Fluellen Cupcakes Preston Center

Sadly this place closed down, but I still wanted to write a review in order to remember the influence Fluellen had on me. My boyfriend and I were in the area and wanted something sweet after our meal and stumbled upon this cute little cupcake store. The presentation of the store was very clean and neat. I liked the display of cupcakes right at the entrance when you walked in. It immediately caught our attention.
SNICKERS– white cake with snickers pieces and snicker butter cream frosting
The cupcake was moist, but it was super sweet. After one bite I had enough. The frosting was overly sweet and then with the added snickers. it really killed my palate. We couldn’t even finish the cupcake and it was one of those times where even the larger than regular sized cupcakes was not worth the effort to eat. I was deeply disappointed.
I know they have other locations, but after trying this place, I’m not sure if we would go to another Fluellen. I might stick to other cupcake shops.

Since we were eating at Hopdoddy’s next door, we stopped by Fluellen before dinner to check out their cupcakes. Since it was past 6pm, they sold out of some flavors already. I ended up choosing the Wedding Cake (Classic White Cake Topped w/​Vanilla Buttercream Frosting, $ 4,
) since this is their Signature Flavor. The cupcake and frosting were super sweet, and I couldn’t taste much vanilla flavor. However, the cake part was moist even after sitting for a day, so I would come back to try their other flavors. Parking at this location is ok since there is plenty of street parking available, but it can get busy during the lunch and dinner rushes.

After seeing this place with a 4 star rating, I had my boyfriend take me here after dinner at Hopdoddy’s. It was a nice place and very clean. However, the cupcakes were way too sweet. I LOVE sweets so for me to think it was way too sweet is saying something. I liked the ideas of the flavors but I could only manage 1 – 2 bites. I would recommend this place to people who have a very high tolerance for sugar.

Okay, well, maybe that was an exaggeration, i only had one and it was the wedding cake and DELICIOUS. A+.
It was HUGE and i felt awfully guilty eating the whole thing but i couldn’t resist. lol but next time i’ll get one and split it with my hubby.

Another delicious location of Fluellen Cupcakes… you can’t go wrong with any flavor, so why not try them all! Fluellen is hands down my favorite cupcake shop in Dallas!

This place was on my radar since they opened, mostly because it would be a nice dessert alternative in the area cupcake wise and I wouldn’t have to go to Sprinkles anymore!
All the cupcakes are $ 4 (I assume, they didn’t have any prices and each of the two we bought were $ 4 each). The space is kind of weird because it’s a cupcake place but ALSO has froyo (like, tons of options and a huge bar of froyo condiments), and it tucked in the back of the space that shares Hopdoddy and Miss Chi Vietnamese, so I’m assuming a lot of people don’t get back there form being distracted by the options closer to the road.
When we first arrived there was NO ONE to serve us. We were a bit confused… we waited for a few minutes patiently, just looking around and then the one person who was working there came out from the bathroom. Hoping she washed her hands! We ordered the Banana Pudding Cupcake and the Chocolate Velvet cupcake. We were trying to eat them there, but they don’t have plates for you to do so… so we’d be wasting a container if we ate there. We just took them home then.
The Chocolate Velvet was nothing spectacular — the frosting was overly sweet and had that thick coating of sugar on the outside which make it a little intolerable. The cake itseld was moist enough, being a slightly moist dark chocolate cake studded with chocolate pieces. The STANDOUT though was the Banana Pudding cupcake, which is what would bring me back in! Delicious, fragrant banana cake, with a sweet but soft vanilla topping rimmed with crushed Nilla wafers. It is an amazing flavor, and I was still thinking about it hours after it was consumed!
I’ll be back to try other flavors like wedding cake and strawberry, but I’ll be sure to stay clear of the chocolate ones
