This Highland Park Village restaurant is located in one posh neighborhood. But it is a rather low key down home everyday Italian eatery. No high brow going on there. A door leads up a flight of stairs where a stacked hostess/bar area awaits their guests. Being vertically challenged, trying to crook my head that far back to see anyone was uncomfortable and weird. It’s not the best layout design. To the left is their main dining room with wooden tables, old black and white photos all around. A big screen tv was hanging on the wall. All normal décor. So how is the food? In one word: average. It’s not a bad place to dine, but it’s not great either. I ordered a glass of Coppola Pinot Noir, they were out of it. The server was professional enough to bring me a sample of their other Pinot stand it. Politely, it was horrible. I wouldn’t use that wine, errr vinegar for nothing. Switched gears and opted for a Zinfadel. One glass with dinner usually is quite enough. Since I was craving meat and pasta, I went with the Chicken Parmesan with a side of meatballs. It was a pretty quiet Sunday night, so my food was delivered pretty quick. Nice portion. Nothing burnt. But there were no condiments on my outside patio table. Cheese, pepper, and chile flakes please. First site of the side of meatballs scared me. They were plain and looked dry. Ok. Usually meatballs have some gravy or sauce to keep them delicate. Not these bad boys, I could of almost used them as golf balls. But I was too tired and hungry to go rounds with the server/manager/kitchen loop de loop. My main course was hot, thank you baby Jesus. But there was enough salt in their tomato sauce to brine almost every cell in my body, for life. Holy cow Batman!!! Plus the chicken was a tad overcooked and a smidge dry… which meant more sauce to help chew it down. Oh my goodness. You get the picture. Ask to taste any sauce before you order it, or just stick to a salad and a drink. You have been Unilocaled darlings. And for dessert, their homemade Tiramisu. It had a drizzle of chocolate on top, which made it too sweet. Even if I had a big portion, there is nothing like a little sweet, not sticky tooth aching. Will I visit them again? Perhaps. I work in the area, if traffic is horrible, it’s a place to hang out until the roads are clear. But I wouldn’t bring out of state guests here. Nope. Gotta pass on that one.

Wouldve given it a 3. Food was decent, nothing to write home about. Paid a ridiculous amount for the food. My main issue was with the service. Had the rudest waitress I have ever come across. Borderline left me compelled to leave without tipping. Go here if you want average, overpriced like crazy food and a mean waitress.

We went to HPV to see a movie tonight, and noticed Five Creeks Tavern just above the theater for the first time ever. It was a lovely Spring evening, so we scored a nice patio seat with a view of the Village. We ordered a couple of dinner salads(we’re trying to eat healthy), a cobb and a wedge, and they were both excellent, fresh and delish. The service was impeccable, and we’re pleased to find a solid alternative to Mi Cocina when we find ourselves in the neighborhood.

Service was so bad that it overshadowed any redeeming qualities about this place. Food was just okay, atmosphere was nice, by our waitress was terrible. She also decided to give herself a generous tip charged to my card after we left when I decided she didn’t deserve it. Will be calling the manager to complain.

Too bad the management is so very, very poor! Out of wine choices on the menu. Overpriced food. Caesar Salad at $ 12.00 a HUGE disappointment. Entrees came at different times. Reservations not honored. Get it together people!

I think this place should do well. Its a great Park Cities family’s alternative to MiCo or any of the sub-par places in Snyder or Preston areas. A little pricey for pasta and pizza, but the food is genuinely good. The ambiance is lively and fun.

I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant! It is a hidden gem in HP Village. It is tucked away in the back by the theater, so it isn’t the easiest to see. But I would say the average person that actually makes it in will not be disappointed. They have a full bar, and even have Peroni on tap(which is what I got, yum!). There are multiple TVs that had all the sports games on, and I even requested the Stars game to be put on and they changed it without a problem. As for food, I got the pesto pasta with chicken. The pasta was delicious and I was told it is made fresh daily. It was also a unique type of noodle that I can’t remember off the top of my head, but it hit the spot! I absolutely plan on coming back to Five Creeks to check out some of their other food offerings. The price was reasonable, especially considering the upscale location in Highland Park. And I didn’t have any problems with service like some of the other reviews allude to.

HORRIBLE service. Waitress was pushy and kept asking us if we were ready to order when we clearly kept asking for more time. Also we are all over 21 and they denied one girl and then afterwards refused to serve all of us. Also other people in the restaurant were screaming. Decent food though.

Food is great. Service is good. Music is too loud. Turn it down!!! Just a little less volume will make a huge difference. This place isn’t a night club. A bunch of park cities families are in here: 30– 55 yr olds and their kids. Not 20-somethings.

Great for beer and watching games. Food is basically heavy pub grub. The pizza is ok. Nothing special. It’s a shame they don’t have something really good because the place is so cool

We stopped in tonight to check the place out. Happy to report that the food and service was great. My wife and I split a Caesar Salad, St. Johns Pizza and Tiramisu. The Caesar was not anything to write home about but tasty nonetheless. The pizza was hot fresh out of their 900 degree oven was a good ratio of crust to toppings. The place had more of a bar feel than restaurant with is fine by me for the area. Good assortment of beer and wine and good atmosphere for an informal date night. Prices were reasonable and welcome in the neighborhood. We will definitely be back!
