I went to FACE (I feel like this name is really awkward… like there should be an explanation point or something…) because I was new in town and didn’t really know where else to go and this was the best Unilocal recommendation. I am someone that doesn’t like to skimp and go the SuperCuts route with my haircut — you wear it every day, don’t get cheap!
I think that the haircut I received both times I went to FACE over the course of two months were both pretty good, so I don’t really have a problem with that. There were a few other things that I didn’t really love though:
— they are trying REALLY REALLY hard to appeal to super fancy metro guys in this men’s salon concept. Honestly, I don’t know how much extra I paid to have 20 flat screen TVs showing ESPN in the salon, but it wasnt worth it.
— they have a policy of requiring that their stylists wear heels and skirts. I’m not sure if they would admit this, but I asked and that’s what they said. This was just weird to me and felt kinda creepy in that I was supposed to be objectifying the stylist in an odd way. I actually felt kinda bad for them.
— the prices are just super expensive. They have a tiered pricing strategy depending on your stylist, but it is like 50% more than an equally good salon in another big city. I am not immune to paying for a good haircut, but I really couldn’t justify paying $ 60 every 3 – 4 weeks for my trims.
I wouldn’t go back to FACE and have a broader objection to their overall business strategy. If that type of place appeals to you, I promise you will love it.

free booze (and you can bring your own), good looking and friendly female staff dressed to their best, tvs with guy stuff (news, games, cars, etc) everywhere and they will change it for u if you’d like, all kinds of services… it’s about time their is a concept like this in dallas! where can you go wrong???

Let out your inner man! This place is a guys place, where you can act like… uh…well MANLY MEN! Whoever thought of someone else shaving you? I thought they only did that in the movies! Hot towels, lotions that still have my face tingling and a shave so close I thought I wouldn’t have to shave for days. Incredibly nice people. Want a beer while your waiting? Have one on the house! (right there it’s worth it) so I went off the deep end and had a «Facial» (I’ll never admit to this publicly) and damn… damn…damn…awesome. I had no idea that’s what the women have been purring about for years. Ok, the pulling of the tiny hairs out the side of my nose was a little disturbing, I didn’t even know they were there! I’ll be back Damian! Great place. What’s next?

Went there on saturday and once again… FANTASTIC!
I called them on saturday (same day) and they squeezed me in for an appointment 3 hrs later (awesome!)
I even saw the guy from the TICKET radio station getting a haircut and pedicure???
Anyways, once again… my hair looks GOOOOOOOOOOOD !

This is one of those places that I have driven by for years, only to keep on driving. Well, Friday I decided to stop and see it. My hair was a mess, and I wanted to have it cut and styled. I was not frowned upon when I came in without an appointment. After about a 10 minute wait, I was whisked away.
My stylist was gorgeous. That has nothing to do with anything. She just was.
That aside, I was blown away by the recommendations and tips given to me. She suggested doing things I had not tried before, and was incredibly adept at carrying these tasks out. My hair (after a shower at home… whose hair really looks good right after a cut?) looks fantastic, and I couldn’t have been happier about the experience. She showed me step-​by-​step what to do to maintain and style my hair, even as it grows out. Wonderful.
About halfway through my cut, I glance down at my nails and notice that they have seen better days. Though I had never had one before, I ask if a manicure could be done before my next appointment in half an hour. «Of course. One moment.» Now I have one incredibly talented person taking care of my hair, while another takes up the daunting task of taming my frayed, jagged, bit-​upon, generally ravaged nails. This was incredibly cool.
All told, my improptu visit to Face was one of the best ideas I have had in a while (and I have had some good ones). Not only were the people good at what they did, they were perfect with making you comfortable from start to finish. I will only be going here from now going forward.
