Taisho Steak & Sushi

Not super, but not horrible.
Came here for a birthday and were the only ones in the restaurant. Not normally a good sign.
However seeing the reviews of people bring rude, just aren’t true. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. Their service was prompt and fast! And the meal overall was good. More people came in after we sat down, so it made us calm down about food quality.
The hibachi chef was nice. But pretty quiet and really didn’t have the «tricks» at say, shogun. However it’s about half the price so I guess you get what you pay for.
Their shaggy dog roll was pretty good, but had to ask for more wasabi as you got a pea size. Not complaining about quantity I just love my stuff spicy. My gi track however, hates it.
The food was good. It wasn’t anything to write home to the parents about. But I didn’t die either.
There is no reason we wouldn’t go back. Maybe if they had more volume they could increase food quality?

This place is one of the worst place for sushi and the Li guy that cook the food was not a real cook .when we ask for the owner and she came out with a attitude and told us she can’t do anything about the taste .“so for me and my family we say run fast don’t do it «.

Awesome mom & pop Chinese/​Japanese food!!! They are owned & operated by one family, very wonderful people! The sweetest I’ve known. The food is homemade & DELICIOUS. I couldn’t live without this place. It’s not fast food or a franchise don’t expect microwaved, mass-​produced fast food, but you are getting the best of the best here :) I recommend this place daily to anyone who tells me they’re hungry! The best sushi in the area for sure

Normally I am pretty satisfied with this place but tonight they were completely off. We ordered delivery and was quoted 40 minutes but it was actually 90 mins. No surprise everything was cold! I had to reheat everything! The dressing for the salad tasted like watered down 1000 Island. The edamame was not fresh, seemed more like it was frozen and reheated. Our main entrée Hibachi Chicken was rubbery and not fresh. I had trouble even finishing it. As I write this now my stomach is turning over and making strange noises. I’m actually scared I might have food poisoning. I will never order from here again!

Super yummy and creative rolls! There is something for all palates and preferences.
I left hating myself because I was so full– we could not stop eating sushi!

Seriously good food! The atmosphere was fantastic. Very calm and serene. The service was incredible and the food came out very quickly. The food itself was hot, delicious and the portions were very generous. I had the teriyaki chicken bento box and a California roll. It was exactly what I expected and I ended up taking a ton of food home! Will definitely be coming back here instead of going to one of the bigger chains like ShoGun!

Don’t judge a book by its cover on this place. I was a little skeptical once going in, but the food and wait staff was very enjoyable. Good sushi at a great price. I got one of the sushi combination plates, 7 pieces (super white tuna, eel, octopus, snapper, shrimp, salmon, yellowtail) with miso soup and a salad for $ 12. It was all delicious and fresh. I’ve been trying to find a good sushi place in the Cypress area for a while, but all of them have either fallen short tastewise or are super expensive. This one has good quality and is priced on the low end. I also got the crap puffs for an appetizer (which surprisingly had real crap unlike most places that just reach for the cream cheese).
Unfortunately, my subsequent visits havent been nearly as enjoyable and I am forced to edit my review. The waitress was very rude and the sushi was below average, small thin cuts that were half the size of what it was the firat time.
Unfortunately its hit or miss eepending on who the waier is and who is behind the counter.

Great Great Sushi. Recommend Shaggy Dog and Crunch Rolls. $ 3 beer. $ 4 well drinks. Huge portions. Leaving with enough hibachi for two more meals. Come support this local joint.

I enjoyed the onion soup. Dr Pepper was a bit flat. Glad I asked for hibachi steak cooked medium because it was done medium well or even well done on some pieces. Staff was very courteous.

Fantastic service and great sushi. They have a large variety to chose from and the sushi is very fresh. The servers are very prompt in taking care oof you, smile and are very friendly. They even remember you from your laat visit (even if its been a few months) my husband and I like too come here to eat sushi, relax and have a quite evening.

I ordered a few sushi rolls here for lunch. The first few were decent, but the tuna in the spicy tuna was not fresh. It had a fishy, off-​putting taste that fresh raw tuna should not have. I took one bite of the roll and did not eat anymore. Will not be returning because I don’t want to run the risk of getting bad fish again.

Ehhh. We happened upon Taisho during one of our few «Mommy Daddy Date Nights». The services was very nice, but dreadfully slow. The sashimi portions were generous and tasted fresh. The maki were creative and tasty.
Overall, it’s a good place, but we definitely have other places we prefer.

I have had Sushi and Hibachi and both are delicious! Service is friendly but they give you your space. The Hibachi is done infront of you is fun for everyone and the Sushi is awesome!

Summary– Solid Sushi everytime we have been or picked up.
Food– 4 Stars
All the Maki and Sushi were very good. The spicy tuna was not mayo based and was delicious. The fish was all very fresh.
My only complaints would be the veggie roll was just odd with the selection of ingredients, and the rolls could have been a bit more tidy and uniform.
Service– 4 Stars
Friendly and perfectly timed pickup. Friendly and attentive when you eat in as well.
Drinks– 3 Stars
Typical Japanese menu, nothing special.

So fresh and delicious. We tried about 4 different rolls and we were impressed by every single one. Our new favorite place for sushi. Fresh fresh and friendly staff.

Like previous reviews stated, they are a bit on the expensive side, but this is the best sushi we’ve found in the Cypress/​Willowbrook area so far.
The owner and wait staff are always very friendly and provide a consistently good experience.
We like the sushi here, specifically the Firecraker roll (topped with baked Unagi) and the Rock N Roll. We love their fried rice too.
The Shaggy Dog is also quite good.

My family went there this past Saturday and really was impressed! The owner was super nice and made all of us feel welcome, which is a really big deal to my family.
We each had a little of everything, so we could share family style, which we recommend doing to get a true sense of what to order the next time we come in for dinner.

If you are in the Cypress area and love sushi I recommend you come here! Apps are good, sushi is great quality and the rolls are great. I stick to their 5 piece sushi and add on 2 salmon (salmon is my favorite!). Meals came with miso and ginger salad which are both really great. Crab puffs are good and we’ve also had their skewers for an appetizer. We have had lunch there too and the prices are really good at lunch if you can go. We want to come with a group sometime so we can get the sushi boat!
I also ordered delivery from here before, which is awesome to have a place who delivers sushi! Food came in a timely matter and tasted great! It had to make a $ 20 min for delivery so I had a lot of tasty sushi all to myself!
Bottom line, come to Taisho or order delivery!

Here is a great Japanese Sushi restaurant that cares for the guest AND their food with care. We are able to order great courses for not a lot of money plus get the best tasting food made the way we like it.
I enjoy the Nabeyaki soup pot while my friends like the Shaggy Dog roll, and crab puffs.
Sometimes we have to ask for some of the accoutrements but they are nice enough to keep their smiles on even when we ask for as lot.
