I think it’s only fair to update my review since we came back many times for sushi while living in the area. The place was always clean. The service always met our needs, but was really never great. But the Hamachi Sashimi-OMG, melt in your mouth fabulous! Always. Every time. It was a pretty regular thing for us to come here for that and sake and be very happy. We never tried any rolls because they did not appeal, but this place definitely gets good fish.

Rude ass manager name Denis! He first off gave me the wrong ticket and charged me for food I didn’t purchase. I then addressed him about it & he then got loud with me and accused me of switching seats with my friend! How are you going to accuse a customer?! Go look on your cameras and see how rude you were to accuse someone who is paying to eat your Nasty food. And the seats are number clearly he gave me #13 which was my friend while my correct ticket said #12. Are you stupid that you don’t know that 12 goes before 13. I am never going here as long as Denis works there.

While the food might be ok here, they can’t seem to manage the process of actually getting a table. Normally when you have a CONFIRMED7:45 reservation, you are not STILL waiting for a table 30 minutes later. With«just as good» and«better» competition in the area, this was my last attempt at visiting this establishment. In the end it’s all about customer service with me, and this establishment does NOT understand what it means… For the record, we walked out.

My family went to have dinner at Shogun last night to celebrate my son’s 16th birthday. It was the worst dinning experience we have ever experienced and will never return. Our«cook» was clearly impaired(drunk or stoned). He was unable to properly cook the food. He continually had issues cutting the meat and kept flipping it into the hole in the grill. He forgot to give us dipping sauces and seemed annoyed when we asked for them after our meat was already given to us. He was unable to put the food on our plates and at one point he even flipped vegetables onto my sons lap leaving a large stain on his pants. He came to the table and barely cooked our food giving us no show at all. The only positive to the entire experience was our waiter who was very apologetic about the whole experience. When I approached the manager about the issue all she said was«I’m sorry». When we received our bill she had taken 20% off and removed a round of our drinks. That did not even cover the pants that now have grease stains on them and can not be worn again or the meals that were hardly eaten due to not being cooked correctly. I tried to call the corporate office and discovered that each location is independently owned. Shame on this owner for not training his managers to take care of its customers and allowing a impaired chef to even come to a table. Thank you for ruining our son’s birthday.

The shaggy dog rolls are my favorite! I eat at the restaurant a few times a month. The wait staff is very nice and I love the location! Vintage park has a lot to offer. The only negative I’ve experienced is with the hibachi chefs. They can be a little cold and uninterested in connecting with customers. The food always tastes amazing though so great job!

The waiter was pleasant but the food was not. Presentation was decent on the dishes. Will not be going here again unless I want to eat balls of rice with little filling of fish. Had the Caterpillar and the Dragon roll. I had to scrap off at least half of the rice on my rolls to actually have a decent piece. Major WTF on that. The rice is NOT supposed to be doubling the size… Also the rolls weren’t rolled tightly. it was falling apart. but maybe it was because they used the rice as a meaning to wrap it instead. Either way… not coming back.

Was my first time eating here. My party all got sushi and it was not fresh and seemed frozen. Wouldn’t recommend going here at all. We also ordered hand rolls and they use rice paper instead of seaweed. Don’t go try another place!

The food was beyond excellent! As a long time Benihana guest I often times find myself comparing every Hibachi grill to them. But not anymore, hold the phone! The service was a bit slow and the guests did seem to get«bored». Nevertheless, it was quickly remedied when the food started rolling in. I would recommend it to anyone! I’ll still be a little harsh on the staff as it could’ve been ran a little better.

When I entered through the doors, I was immediately greeted by a hostess. I preferred to sit at the bar and was greeted by a VERYCUTE bartender. I ordered some sushi rolls, but I can’t remember the names of them because I didn’t think they were memorable. The rolls were overly stuffed with rice and crunchies that I didn’t even know which roll was which even by looking at them because even though they all had different fish and veggies. they looked identical. It really looked like I ordered 4 of the same rolls! My server was very accommodating and recommended popular dishes. He was very helpful and made my drinks perfectly. I don’t like my drinks too bitter and he just whipped up a drink that was so refreshing and sweet. Overall experience: The food wasn’t great. I definitely will not be coming here to eat, but I’ll definitely come back for the drinks and to meet with the bartender. He went above and beyond and it was a plus that he was cute :] I would give 0 stars, but he made my experience a whole lot better.

I’ll star with the service. We sat down and were immediately asked if we were ready to order. Not ever into the restaurant before I had not even had a chance to look at the menu. Politely saying no and then continuing to look at the menu they came back within 2 minutes and asked if we were ready and then. I had not been able to look at the menu very well and then they came back again. As I told them no that we weren’t ready she walked off then didn’t come back for 20 minutes. Then we got our order in somehow there was confusion with my order I ordered 3 pieces of salmon and she bought me 6 pieces of salmon. When I told her that I ordered 3 pieces the waitress argued with me that I ordered 6. Then when she brought the pieces there was something wrong with them I could tell immediately when I took a bite. Then I flip one of the pieces of sushi over and it had a black spots. Needless to say I did not eat the rest of my food but I was still sick all night and the next day. Don’t go here save your money go somewhere else this establishment is disgusting.

I will not visit Shogun locations for sushi any longer. On more than one occasion and location the waitstaff has cheated me out of my change. When management was questioned they just made excuses that their staff doesnt always carry exact change. There are too many options in the Houston area for sushi with honest waitstaff– id rather give those businesses my service.

I won’t get into the circumstances of my visit, but suffice it to say that a Japanese grill like this is hardly something that would be at the top of my restaurant wish list. That, combined with the reviews I saw for this location, didn’t exactly hype me up for a visit. So, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by our recent visit to Shogun. Our party did the standard«gather around the grill» deal, so nothing surprising here — nevertheless, our chef Cesar was quite entertaining, and managed to produce a variety of grilled items that were fairly well done, avoiding the usual issues of overcooked vegetables and oversalting. Yes, for me, the price/enjoyment ratio at these places is skewed, but I’ll give Shogun credit for good«entertainment,» good food and service.

Have been there on lunches and happy hours. I am a regular visitor of Vintage Park in general. Love their Sushi, and Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box. And of course, the sake.

I went here for a friend’s birthday dinner with a big group, I didn’t know what to expect so I went with an open mind. Once I entered the restaurant, it was empty, then the hostess directed me to the back where the party was. Even though it was a Monday evening, I’ve never seen a place so dead but I figured the unfavorable weather had something to do with it. The restaurant’s set up is dining tables in the front and the hibachi in the back and so of course I was inclined to go with that for dinner. Half of our party had the hibachi for dinner so the chef was cooking and showing off in front of us while he cooked our food which is typical for these kinds of places. Our chef was okay and tried to have fun with us and was tossing rice to everyone around the grill and we had to catch it with our mouths, that was funny and lighten up the crowd. In my opinion the food was just okay, having it cooked right in front of us was nice and steaming but the taste didn’t blow my mind. The chicken yakisoba was what I ordered and for $ 14.95 I felt I could’ve gotten more bang for my buck but it was all just on the«show» and experience. The service was good, but other than that, I wouldn’t choose to go to this place.

To sum my experience up in one sentence: extremely high priced, even at lunch for small portions and terrible service. Ordered a sushi roll and a lunch special, it took so long for someone to take our order, bring out and start cooking our food and to bring the check. I ordered the steak medium rare, the guy cooked it medium-well, the rice was bland, there was never anyone around to get me a fork(yes, I have trouble with chopsticks) and we asked for the check as soon as we got the food and it still took 10 min for him to bring it. Not a lot of flavor, too much money, lack of atmosphere — will not be back.

Ugh. Work chose this place for lunch. I quickly rolled my eyes in my mind, grabbed my purse and headed out to Vintage Park. The water tasted dirty like it has been soaked in dirt. It was gross. 3 other people at my table said the same thing and we had to switch our water out for soda. Finally got our drink orders and waited, waited, and waited. 15 minutes goes by and we clearly see our waiter in the kitchen. When we finally waved down the hostess, the manager finally comes into the hibachi room to collect our order. Had the chef cooked for us. I don’t care for the tricks and show. Just give me my food. Had to drench my food in ginger and mustard sauce. Went back to the office and smelled like food all day.

I had a good experience I would say. Saturday nights at the vintage park is always busy. When we got to Shogun there was at 5 minute wait. We were seated and was left waiting to order our drinks. Our waiter was super slow! Took forever to get our food ordered, forever to bring out our soup and salad, forever to give us our bill… Just took too long! We decides to go with the hibachi grill. About $ 15 – 20 per person. Worth every dollar! The good was amazing and the guy over the grill was quite entertaining. Everyone ordered one meat and surprisingly we got 2 free shrimps! The fried rice was THEBEST! The best I’ve ever had! And for all the drinkers, blue Hawaiian was tasty!
