Just terrible customer service. My husband ordered sushi that was supposed to be cooked not ‘raw’. Instead he was given raw sushi. We asked the server to please ask the Manager take it off our check, since he didn’t even eat it and they wanted to charge us $ 2.00 for it. We asked them, why they would charge us $ 2.00 for something we didn’t even eat and order for that matter, and the Manager said it was because she would have to throw it away and it’s a waste for them. Instead of admitting to their mistake for bringing us the wrong sushi, they tried to charge us for it. Poor customer service there and absolutely no sense. I would never do that to a customer, at the risk of losing my job. We are never going there again.

Very disappointed after eating here. Had the gyoza, which were very oil and had little seasoning in the stuffing. My friend and I each got a roll. They came out looking like mostly rice. I had the Marilyn(«Marolyn» on the menu). All I could taste was the cheap artificial crab meat. It was a baked roll, but it was barely warm. The fish on top looked discolored. I would not expect anything different from the other rolls.

The sushi rolls are well priced and taste pretty darn good. The staff is nice as well.

My husband and I love to come here because the food is always fresh and delicious. HOWEVER, the bartender(it’s the same guy every time) is always slow, and careless about life. This guy never greets us, asks for a drink order, shows any kind of manners, etc… I think his name is Joey. We sat at the bar tonight, on a very slow night, and he never would come over to ask for our drink order. He rinsed a couple of glasses, chatted with some friends that had come in after us, refilled a regular’s drink who sat beside us but then walked off. We finally gave up and sat at a normal table and got a very nice waiter. I wish this idiot would just quit. If you don’t want to serve people, then FINDANOTHERJOB. This is not once, but at least four or five times. I’m not going to go anymore until they get a new bartender. We have both worked for years in restaurants and neither of us can believe how this guy waits on people. The first time we came, we both thought it must be his first day. Apparently not. Short, chubby, young, white guy. Wears glasses and has dark hair. Save your tips for an actual waiter.

So, I’ve been several times and received great treatment. Then in the last month I have gone twice and have received the worst service ever from the same bartender! So I am at the bar and their 20 something, Asian bartender can’t be bothered with me beyond a beer. I order a very simple, mundane Sushi roll. So 20 mins later I’m finishing my beer wondering where my food is. I ask for my ticket. He says you still have food coming. I tell him, if it takes more than 20 mins I don’t need it. He replies«well in case you haven’t noticed, we’re a little busy». I ask who brings the food. He answers with a flippant«I do». Now this is the same guy I’ve seen stroll to and fro behind the bar and at no time did he appear to have a fire lit under under his butt! So he then tells me my total and throws the black check holder at me. I just buried my mother and was looking for a nice time to myself and he was rude, snide and had a smart Alec attitude! Where does he get off being so mean to women my age? I was in tears when I left!

It was good if you don’t want to drive or pay Benihanna prices– walked in had about a 15 minute wait for hibachi. Server was very attentive. Our chef was very good– I had the scallops they were delicious. overall not bad– going to come back and just try the sit down restaurant. Our table mates were friendly and a hoot so that helps too– always fun to turn a redneck on to Sake. He asked what it was and the waiter overheard and brought another cup with my next bottle and gave him a cup and said–«this bottle is on the house since he is trying it» I kept his glass full– that was a nice touch.

This place is horrible. The service(if you could call it that) was even worse. Sat at the bar waiting on a table for 6, no issues as it was friday night. Ordered a glass of wine and never got it because the bar tenders were too busy doing shots with some customers down the bar. Sat at our hibachi table grill for a long time before a waitress ever came out to get drinks, forget about ordering. When we did order, i had filet stir fry, it was fine but not $ 25 worth of fine. In the end, whole night was $ 50 for mediocre food and awful service.

Used to go here a lot but stopped a couple of years ago. Poor service. Tried it again today. Service was good but food just okay. We had the Bento box which included a lot of food, so quantity was not the issue. The chicken was a little over cooked and the rice was room temperature. The soup was delicious and hot when served. All in all, too much competition in the area for me to return.

I’ve been trying all the sushi places around here to find a good sushi place. I’ve been putting off going to Shogun because of the blah reviews, but it was actually much better than I expected. Much better than some of the other places I tried that got higher reviews. I’ve only had sushi here, so this review isn’t for the hibachi. With that being said, the sushi is nothing spectacular. My favorite roll so far is the New York roll, but with all of the rolls I’ve ordered, I feel like there is too much rice and too little fish. And because of this, I feel like the sushi is a bit overpriced for what you get. I haven’t had any bad fish here yet, so that’s a good sign. Although I did have a roll with snow crab where the snow crab didn’t taste particularly fresh. Service can also be a little slow sometimes. I’ll still come here if I feel like eating sushi but don’t feel like driving too far out. Still on the hunt for a really good sushi place though!

We were seated and waited 25 minutes with no service. Not even our drink orders were taken and this was on a Tuesday night! Very disappointed with the lack of service. We ended up walking out and leaving.

We almost didn’t go here when I saw the reviews but today is my daughter’s birthday and she really wanted to go… I’m so glad we did!!! Our server, Vicky, was honestly the best server we’ve encountered in the Cypress area! She was friendly, attentive, and quick! She brought some extra cherries over for my son. Our drinks were never less than half empty and they sang happy birthday to my daughter(which is rarely done these days) and put a big ol’ smile on her face! We WILL be back!!!

This must be where chef careers go to die. Tried it again because the wife wanted it for her birthday. I saw the previous chef we had last time and prayed that we wouldn’t get him and thankfully we didn’t. The one we did get really wasn’t much better though. He did a nice opening number with the spatula and the fork and that was pretty much it aside from the onion volcano which seems to be a staple trick of all shogun-style chefs. Seriously, instead of just cracking all of the eggs for the fried rice can’t you spin them, roll them down your spatula, catch one in your hat… something, anything other than simply cracking them and discarding the shells. Ugh.

I wish I could give 0 stars. Everything about this place was awful. Upon walking in found that an old lady(probably the owner) was seating guests. However, she was much to busy with her conversation on the phone with her friend. My kids and I had to wait for several minutes for her to finish her precious conversation. The server immediately took our drink orders, brought them out, then wasn’t to be seen again for 10 minutes. We ordered the shrimp tempura, teppanyaki chicken, rocket roll, shaggy dog, and philly roll. The tempura was disgusting. It was almost all breading that was soaked with grease. I actually squeezed a piece and was able to watch the grease drip onto the plate. Once you for past the thick, soggy layer of breading, there was a tiny mushy piece of shrimp inside. The sushi was the worst I’ve ever had. The rice was stale and chewy. The smoked salmon was not a good color. The rocket roll was supposed to have jalapeños and didn’t. The sauce on top of it tasted like pure mayonnaise. It was awful. We didn’t finish any of it. I walked by the sushi bar and kitchen(unfortunately after eating) and nothing in the sushi bar looked fresh. The kitchen was extremely dirty. The service was horrible. He brought our food and never came back to check on us until he brought us our bill. I will never be going back.

The interior was pretty nice– it was busy for a Sunday lunch and I was surprised to see that there was only one waiter per every 5-+ tables. Also many of the waiters are high school age and did not know many questions we asked about specific dishes. The sushi was OK as was all the other items we tried — hand rolls, beef noodles, soup and egg rolls. One thing that was super weird was the sweet and sour sauce for the egg rolls. It was not sweet and also had bubbles in it like it was randomly just whipped together. The house Saki(wine) was extremely overpriced at $ 9 a bottle and anywhere else it would be about $ 5-$ 6. Overall extremely disappointed that my husband and I both got lunch combos and still ended up spending about $ 60 for lunch… At a restaurant that certainly wasn’t worth it!

Sushi: The sushi quality is not consistent for me. I’ve come back and eaten here several times since it’s opened. Overall, the sushi is okay. Nothing amazing. My go-to is the popular roll, Shaggy Dog. Service: Also inconsistent. Overall, they’re friendly but can be very slow and not efficient. So we usually order to go if we do decide to eat here. The last time we sat down we kicked ourselves because service was so slow. Overall, I’ll come by here if I really want sushi but am too lazy to drive further out. I usually regret after eating it because it’s just underwhelming. There weren’t too many options when I lived in Cypress, but I think that’s changed now. So I think next time if I’m too lazy to drive out, I’ll try a new place.

The place look nice walking in. Got seated within 6 mins. Didn’t get to order my food until 10 mins later. My he waiter walked around and around missed my table twice. The food came out with a horrible fish smell in it. People say favorite in cypress? I don’t think so.

Oh what a shame. Once upon a time, we sung the praises of this place. It was pretty inside. It was new! The food was fresh and they had live music on Friday nights. So… what happened? We went in for lunch on Saturday and oh what a difference. The hostess was nice but the waiter was indifferent. We all ordered the teriyaki bento box from the dinner menu… even pointing from the dinner menu and saying #5. We all got the lunch menu version without explanation. No grilled veg. No tempura shrimp. What was there instead? California rolls with discolored avocado, no ginger or wasabi with it. The beef reminded all of us of Salisbury Steak and the rice was so oily it could not be eaten with chopsticks. So how about the usually delicious Shaggy Dog roll? Old and cold. this did come with some ginger and for a topper… old dried crusty wasabi. Seriously??? Well I paid the $ 75 for this really crappy lunch and have taken Shogun off of our dining list. Shogun… feel the shame. It’s time to fix it quick or commit Seppuku… just sayin…

I was in town that night and was in the mood for Asian food, but being in Cypress, there’s not many options as Bellaire. So my friend suggested this was the closest one. Nothing unique anout the hibachi grill but the pink lady rolls was something else. I initially was going to get the rolls only, but we got the hibachi table and I felt compelled to do the hibachi dinner so I ended up splitting the dinner with the friend while at the same time getting to enjoy the sushi. We got the chicken hibachi but it was kind of dry, should have gotten the steak instead. All in all it wasn’t terrible but coming to the Houston area with high expectations didn’t really help much to make it a wow factor.
