Getting there, we assumed the evening would be fine and The Ridge would be a great starting point for the rest of the evening. We arrived just past 8:30, hostess greets us and asks if the table up front is fine. I say sure as I don’t really have a problem where I sit and this is where it begins to go downhill. Our hostess is having to wipe down the table as no one had even bothered to do that after the plates from the previous customers were picked up. Seated… Wait nearly twenty minutes for some waiter that never told us his name to come by and ask what we wanted to drink. We gave him our drink order and had to force an appetizer order in. He didn’t ask if we would like to order one. Drinks arrive, one appetizer arrives, then finally the other. During this time we were never asked our for entrée order. One of the three drinks ordered was missing the alcohol in and had to be returned, not by the waiter as he had disappeared into the corner with the other wait stuff and managers sitting around. Over an hour waiting, we finally had to force an entrée order in. We were trying to order it while we getting drink refills but he just walked off. My bf had enough time to drive from Virginia Highlands to Cumming and we still hadn’t ordered food if this gives you an idea of how long we had been there. Two surf and turfs ordered, one was correct. The other was overcooked, the steak and the scallops. Steak recooked and was underdone. Sides were microwaved and yes, there kitchen has two microwaves that they use. Waited on the check forever. Went to the bathroom and returned to find some random waitress that I hadn’t even seen all night arguing with my table. The manager was such trash that she couldn’t even get the nerve up to come to the table. The owner was also in the building and never said a word. I just wanted out of that farce of a restaurant. I asked three times how much the check was as the waitress sent to the table was still holding it and never even acknowledged me. It had to be taken from her to find out how much it was so I could just throw money down to leave. She would’ve rather stood there and argued with everyone. If you want Buckhead style dining, this isn’t it. You’ll get better service and food from Chili’s the next exit down.

Haven’t been here in 15 years and now I remember why. We had a party of 17. While our server was good, one person cannot effectively serve that many people at once. Management should have given her help so that 15 minutes didn’t go by before we got our ordered drinks. Every time we ordered something it took forever because she was going through 17 people, then ringing in 17 things, then delivering 17 items making many trips. Not fair to her. She worked very hard but needed help. This is supposed to be a steak place… I ordered the 20 oz ribeye to share with my husband. It was the worst steak I have ever had in my life. Ordered medium rare. The outside was charred beyond recognition and tasted it. It tasted like someone hadn’t cleaned their grill in months and scraped all the burnt meat off of it and i just ate it. Steak was also mostly gristle, fat, and tough tough tough. We sent it back and they took it off the bill. The mashed potatoes and peas were excellent. Drinks were also excellent. Nice atmosphere. But mostly an over 60 crowd.

Warm homey fireplace, beautiful view of the woods make for a wonderfully intimate dinner setting. I have eaten here many times and have always been pleased with my meals. Steaks are done to perfection and the seafood is always fresh. Dinner salads are way above average and come with a homemade croissant. My little mountain town of Cumming can put some of the well known Atlanta steak and seafood places to the test with this little gem. Additionally there is live entertainment on the weekend to serenade you while you eat. When you are done, stick around and have a few drinks and enjoy the show.

We come here on occasions for their«Early Bird» Dinners(Available between 5 – 6 pm only with a limited selection of entrees). During this hour, the prices are good for the same meal you’ll pay full price after 6 pm. Overall, the menu contains a nice variety of American classics of steak, chicken, shrimp and scallops with choices of a side. For this evening, we ordered off the regular menu. My husband ordered the ribs, they were really good and simply done(not wet and sloppy with BBQ Sauce, a simple dry rub, the way we like it). The meat was fall off the bone good. I ordered and received The Ridge Steak. It was simply done, and I thought it was good too. It also came out as ordered(med rare). The 6 oz Ridge Steak is 14.00(regular price) so I’m aware of my expectations and know not expect a fancy aged prime cut of beef(compared to the higher end specialty steak houses). The prices are better during«Early Bird» if you can make it between this hour, but I have to agree with other viewers, the regular menu prices on some of the entrees are a little steep. The restaurant appears to have been here for many years. The bar seems to be a good draw for regular customers, but then again so is the restaurant. This seems to be a formula of success that works for them. This time, I appreciated the fact that our server brought out our salads, allowed time before the main entrée arrived. The service this evening was good. Note: In previous visits(at least three to four occasions in the past, we were slammed first with our salads, then the entrée before we began our first or second bites of our salad… ergo the reason we hadn’t returned for a while until this evening). Despite other reviews, I will continue dining here on occasions. The food has been consistent, but I limit my choices to the steak and ribs.

I know this place gets voted best of Forsyth all the time. Apparently they have a good fanbase. That’s awesome but it’s not the place for me or my family. My wife and I ordered two steaks, one medium rare and the other rare. The inside was cooked right but the outside was burnt. It seems this is their«method» and if you like that method them fine but for our money we won’t be there for steaks again. I have been there several times over the years and can say the wings and chicken fingers from the bar are great. Despite the fact that last time I was there it took quite a bit of time to even have the bartenders acknowledge me. When I did get the drinks the rum drink was great, lot of rum :) They have live music but you have to be over 50 to enjoy it.

Been here 4 times in almost 8 years for sure hit and miss and after tonights dinner with my party of 4 I may have visited for the last time. Food was just unremarkable but certainly not low cost. Could be a cool retro place, old school. However you still need decent food and drinks to bring people back and this place has seemed to lose its interest in food that tastes like something more than just bland or overly salted and over cooked dishes However what really made things worse was the lack of interest it appeared in actually making your customers happy. Our group wanted to order some oysters on the half shell for an app but quickly we were told that that could not happen that was only served at the bar. Which was mind you like 4 feet away from our table. We inquired why that was and the only real response was we could move to the bar or a high top at the bar if we wanted. I assume we would have had that choice regardless but we why should we move just because we want to order more food and spend more money? So no oysters for us, we even asked one more time just for good order but it was once again a cold hard no. So while we still stayed and ate and had 4 full dinners and spent still a decent amount of money we would have spent more and the waiter would have made more in tip. What waiter or waitress would not come up with a creative way to allow us to order the app we wanted, again with a wink and a smile. I think I could have reached the bar without leaving my seat if I stretched out but did not want to break this serious rule at the Ridge for no oysters for people who sit in a booth or a table I guess. So for me bad service, bland over priced food means we wont be back for a 5th time. So many better places in the area to check out.

Underwhelming and over-priced. Girlfriend and I decided to give this place chance and honestly would of been better off skipping it. As others have said, décor is dated and the quasi-live music is more annoying than anything. Don’t order a cocktail. Asked for a Ketel one and tonic, got well vodka and water. Lump crab dip was quite good, arguably the only highlight of the meal. Ordered a «marinated» rib-eye and was surprised to receive what appeared to be a grocery store cut of meat. Bland and outrageously priced. While I am critical of this place and its«award winning» moniker, it’s not without merit. Their cheesecake was quite good, although I presume it is because they didn’t make it.

Old fashioned. If you are looking for trendy, go elsewhere. Steak is below average. Service was decent because the place was nearly empty. Love trying different places but really wish my husband and I would have tried somewhere other than the Ridge.

Pretty normal selection. I liked the old school feeling of the place, and they have a nice view in the back. They made a good Rob Roy(didn’t pinch on the Scotch.)

Dated, décor and clientele. Food was subpar and overpriced. Staff was super friendly unfortunately the kitchen isn’t very good. The scallop appetizer had 3 scallops — 12 $. Ordered a burger medium– was well done. Ordered chicken francese– swimming in grease/butter– chicken wasn’t breaded and fried as the recipe calls for, and was covered in green onion… Weird and gross. Returned the chicken, it was inedible. A server that wasn’t ours came to the table and apologized and gave us a $ 25 gift certificate to return. very sweet but not necessary. Not sure if we will return… If we do I will update the review.

Just went here for the first time on a date with my wife. We have been in cumming for 8 years and have heard great things about the Ridge. We had a steak and my wife had crab cakes. Both meals were great! Service was amazing and prompt. Our server Alexander was awesome! I’m not sure why there are so many bad reviews because this place was on a wait and very busy! We will be back soon!

My girlfriends parents and I decided to try out this«Award Winning Steakhouse» Jeesh! I’m not sure who gives out the awards in this neck of the woods, but I think it’s probably the brother of the guy who owns the steakhouse. I’ve been disappointed by service and quality of food before but this place really takes the cake. Where do I begin. It’s Mother’s Day weekend. Prepare for that. It’s prom season. Prepare for that. Don’t blame the volume of guests for your lack of professionalism. Hot beers, warm wines, getting to watch the supposed manager yell at our eventual server, always a treat. I’m writing this to plead with anyone thinking of eating there please do not. Below is our detailed experience. We arrived at the restaurant vastly uninhabited, we were asked to take a seat at the bar and remanded to wait for around 25 minutes. During our wait we were served one Luke warm corona and a Luke warm glass of Pinot Grigio. When we were finally seated in our booth our server came up and said they were extremely busy and apologized, for nothing, up to that point. We ordered our drinks and our appetizer, the fried calamari, which was sort of fried and a bit mushy, and definitely from a bag. My girlfriend’s brüt rose came with the champagne flute that looked like it had been washed in bacon grease and ashes. We ordered our entrees Two steaks, grilled chicken and the«Creole». It’s pretty hard to fuck up steak so they were in the clear there but the«Creole»: Good God!!! was it bad. It was filled with unchewable bits of «chicken» and doused in a sauce that was red. The steaks were steak. The chicken was chicken. I had an empty glass the majority of the time and when I flagged another person down to get some soda water he promptly brought me another one and thirty minutes later I was greeted with a glass of soda and another excuse. All in all this place is no good. Seems like the only thing you can get their regularly is a sweaty glass of Dewars and bad service. Last but not least, 71 sanitation grade. Yuck.

Used to love but last time we all met for dinner here, all 7 in our party got sick. Not even in the car to leave when our stomachs started gurgling and rumbling. We all made a mad dash to leave and had a pretty unpleasant rest of the evening. And each of us ordered something different! NEVER again…

Thought we’d give this place a shot. I drive by it a lot and it always has plenty of cars. It was early Sunday evening. .not busy at all. We were seated at a dirty table, but the hostess was nice. I wish I could tell you how the food is, but after 15 minutes of waiting without anyone even acknowledging we were there, we left. Will not be going back.

If you like to spend the remainder of your day in the bathroom like my family did, come here. Seemed dirty and dated. Had a score of 71 posted for health department grade, lowest I have seen anywhere ever. Prime rib actually tasted good, it was part of Mother’s Day special for like $ 25 with sides according to sign. It only came with one side, no salad, bread was extra. And they served my 2 year old a hot plate which they brought out with a towel, put it in front of him and said it was hot and walked away. My wife saved my son from getting burned. Who does that??? Bathroom had broken or missing doors on stalls also. This place was probably good in the 80’s and seems to be on last legs. First and last time going.

Our party of 10 went to The Ridge to celebrate an anniversary. We had reservations at 7 pm, but didn’t get our food until 9 pm. Our glasses went empty, our server never came back to check on us, until we finally went up to the bar and complained. I asked twice for a glass of water and had to go to the bar to get one. What a joke! When we finally got our food, it was good, thankfully. We like the atmosphere and music at The Ridge, but unless they address the service issues we won’t be back. They need to get a clue or don’t deserve to be in business!

Food is not very good, but if you keep drinking it would get better! This is the fourth time we’ve been to the ridge and we just keep on forgetting how bad the food sucks, you can get a better meal at a Piccadilly cafeteria don’t waste your time unless you are a middle-aged person looking for a date! Yuck! The steak smelled like burnt hair and the fish tasted liked nursing home food and all for over 80 dollars for two, gotta luv the great value!

Says its was voted the best but really not sure what for. Went with the family and was surprised to be seated in what seemed like a back room past the kitchen. This was nice, kept us away from the crowd. And what sounded like bad karaōke. The food. Our son’s order had under cooked noodles well raw and hard on the tips. My Cajun chicken pasta was suppose to be blacken but they forgot the spice. After sending it back they forgot the sun dried tomatoes. Chopped for leaving out a main ingredient. First time will be our last disappointing, not really sure how or who voted them the best of. One good thing is once a month they have a deal were you can bring your dogs to their back patio money goes to the Forsythe animal shelter.

Don’t bother! We took our parents for a special dinner out and out of 4 of us, they got four wrong. Ordered a salad without bacon and got bacon. My husband was served Salmon that tasted slimy moldy and they forgot a side for Mom and Dad’s steak was charred. They kept pushing free desserts and my husband and Mom are diabetic. One waitress or manager said«are you just trying to get a free dinner?» To my husband who was served rotten fish. They comped part of the bill, but still left a bad taste in our mouths. All the plates were hot and almost all the food was cold. Good luck.
