Unbelievable potato knish! Soft and flavorful potato onion on the inside and a delicate crispy/chewy shell. I can’t wait to try the sandwiches and desserts, had THEFRIENDLIEST conversations with everyone who was working there — everyone who came in was treated like long time friends even if it was there first time in(like myself) — I will be back!

Today we tried Rudy’s for the first time. I was surprised that this authentic Jewish Deli was hidden away in a corner in Cranston. All our favorite foods were served with a pleasant smile and genuine pride. This family affair cooks and bakes homemade foods with Grandma’s recipes. We really wish them success and will spread the good word to all our friends.

Not Mountain high sandwiches actually rather on the small side but very good none the less. The other food. That is what will make you keep coming back. The desserts made in house are spectacular. The knishes and blintzes were exceptional. And you can was it all down with a Dr. Brown soda. Can’t go wrong with that.

Stopped in for breakfast. The server seemed overwhelmed and out of his element. but there was only one other table. Turns out he was also the cook and I imagine he was probably doing a lot of prep work in the back. Very friendly though! The grilled english muffin was the best part of the breakfast. I asked about the home fries recipe and their ingredients seemed fine. but the flavor was off. They tasted bad. Soggy with a bad flavor. I didn’t enjoy them. The scrambled eggs and corned beef were fine. My husband had a bagel sandwich with nothing on the side. was fine. Top dollar breakfast but didn’t seem worth the money.

Great Fresh foods just like New York City Deli’s — Stage, Carnegie, Katz. Pastrami and Corned Beef was excellent as was the Matzah Ball soup.

I’d read about the great corn beef and had to try it. That part they got right but the bread my $ 10. sandwich was served on was not just dry it was down right stale! Very, very disappointing. It was good meat, but mostly just piled all in one part of the sandwich, designed to make it look bigger than it actually is. The place was pretty empty at lunch, and I’m not surprised. If you are going to charge $ 10.00 for a sandwich it had better be great! This was not even close. I will give the very friendly staff a high five, but that doesn’t cut it.

I don’t know where the five stars are coming from and sadly I have to be brutally honest with this review. I was craving a Reuben sandwich for the longest time and this seems to be up the street from my house. The reviews raved about how great it was. And even said it was made«in house». One review said the bread was baked there. I have to try this place! When I walked in there was a claustrophobe of people — so ideally this place must be THAT good. It took 20 minutes for my sandwich. they offered pickles as a side and the sandwich said it was«mountain high» for almost $ 10 a sandwich. I ordered a Reuben and a pastrami. So let’s begin the chop down. The bread isn’t baked in house — so whoever wrote that review is a lie. Its generic bread store bought — not even the good kind. The sandwich isn’t mountain high at all. ATALL. I got my sandwich on two soggy slices of bread(the outside seemed like they attempted to toast it) with a few slices of meat in it and sauerkraut. And don’t expect anything else except meat cheese and bread because they don’t offer a variety to customize your sandwich either. I don’t understand how it takes more than $ 9 to make a sandwich. They’re not even using any real produce. I paid $ 25 plus tip to be disappointed and sad. What a rip off. I gave the extra star because the owners are very nice. I will never go there again.

If you’re expecting a real New York deli experience, expect to be disappointed. It can take almost a half hour to get your hot pastrami sandwich on rye, and when the sandwich arrives it is not«mountain high» as advertised. It’s a smallish clump of pastrami sliced so thin it’s almost shredded, on thick, soft bread that bears NORESEMBLANCE to New York Jewish rye. The pastrami is so … lame. If you order matzoh ball soup, as you may have if you’re fantasizing about a bygone NY deli experience, you’ll get a serving of rather insipid chicken broth, a few carrot slices bobbing about, and a decent but very forgettable matzoh ball sitting forlornly at the bottom of the take-out container. The cold can of Dr. Brown’s Cel-Ray is perfect, but small consolation. I wanted so much to love this place. The people who run it seem very nice. But Rhode Islanders clearly have no idea what to look for in a «New York-style» deli. And the owners either have no idea themselves or have decided that it’s not worth it to try to replicate that experience here. So you’ll still have to go to New York if you want the real thing.

Food good, but no reason to wait 1 hour for sandwiches. The worst part was when the owner told me I should call ahead next time without so much as an apology. I’m sorry. How hard is it to throw some cream cheese on a bagel? They NEED to figure out how to run their kitchen ASAP. I’m not sure even Robert Irvine from Restaurant Impossible could save them. Stay away.

First, kudos to Bubbe for her hospitality and great recipes! The food was good. However, we did not have a good experience otherwise. The owner and the rest of the staff have not figured out an efficient way to take orders, deliver food in a reasonable amount of time(over an hour wait for a deli sandwich), or gage anticipated quantities of several basic staples on the menu. Given that it is a new restaurant that recently got a nice write up in Projo, I would be fine with this. The problem was the unapologetic attitude of the owner. As gracious as Bubbe was, the owner was not.

Great to see a legit Jewish deli in Cranston. Bagel w cream cheese and lox was on point and only 5 bucks. Homemade chopped liver is fantastic. Looking forward to trying more specialties like the matzo ball soup and blintzes. Really really nice owner/cooks/server too. The type of service you just don’t see anymore. While everyone else is waiting in line at Ts and other overrated spots in Cranston for a basic breakfast, I’ll be here thx.

Where do I begin? I just left this great little gem of a place on Dyer Ave and can’t wait to go back. I had a great homemade corned beef brisket sandwich on seeded rye with a side of homemade potato salad. It made me feel like I was back in NYC. The corned beef is made in house and it’s got the perfect seasoning and amount of salt so it can stand alone and shine on two pieces of warm rye. The Reuben was also delicious! Not only do they have great sandwiches but they also have desserts made in house. We tried their pumpkin cheesecake which was light, delicious and not overly sweet. I can’t wait to try their other desserts. But the ultimate best part of this experience was the family who owns this place. They made sure to ask our names and get to know us. I found myself staying long after I was done eating just talking and laughing and sharing stories. This place encompassed everything a family business is. Everyone has their niche and role to play. Mom makes the potato salad, Dad makes the brisket, Daughter makes quite a few desserts, Grandmother makes the cheesecake, and their other daughter made sure we had a delicious cup of coffee. Great place with a great energy. Be sure to go here!

Delighted to have a REAL deli in the area! The owners are so gracious, attentive and upbeat. Excellent menu and saw some matzoh ball soup that looked superb! Sides of potato salad and coleslaw were first rate as was pickle. Nova and lox a good value and tasty. Corned beef sandwich highly snackable. Cheesecake excellent. Saw a lot of other happy diners and menu is not compromised by a lot of non deli items. Attractive and clean space and owners very pleased to carry on their grandparents business. Hope they do well. We’ll be back.

I have been in Rhode Island for school for the past three years. During this time I miss home a lot finding this place and the food they serve reminds me of home. It is a family run business all of them are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent and so I couldn’t resist ordering more to take home with me. If you’re like me looking for Jewish food in Rhode Island is tough but this place I will definitely go back to as much as I can:)

I wish Unilocal allowed half stars, I would easily give them 4 and a half stars. My wife and I have ordered takeout on two different occasions. I recently had an omelette with cheese and onions. The omelette filled almost the entire takeout container! a full sized bagel came with it. My wife ordered the two egg special and some cheese blintzes. Service was with a smile and fast. There is one reason only while I’m not giving 5 stars and that’s due to the home fries. I believe they should be crispy, these were not. Maybe next time we will order them well done.

So glad to finally have a New York style deli in the area, Prior to this, we would have to drive about an hour to get some good deli. Once we arrived we were greeted by a couple of the staff and they were all friendly and were nice to chat with. The food was excellent. I had the Reuben, and it was very good and they make their own meats. My wife had the Nova Scotia lox plate, my son had a bagel sandwich. Plus we all got the potato knish’s. On the side we got their home made potato salad that was delicious. Over all loved the food, and the staff. We can not wait to go back and try more of the menu. Thank you Rudy’s Deli.
