Good atmosphere, friendly folks, great beer and burgers. Don’t forget to check out Revival’s tasting room through the brewery and downstairs for a great casual«parent’s basement» lounge feel.

Like others have noted, there are strengths and weaknesses here at Brutopia. It’s a desirable but mixed bag that in some ways leaves me wanting a better experience. The good– interesting locally crafted beers! Love their darker offerings, like the White Electric Coffee porter and Dark Marvel stout. Both are very creamy yet not too heavy. The food is kind of basic, which feels like a letdown to me. Mac and cheese doesn’t really taste any better than a pack of velveeta shells and cheese. Don’t expect much from the service– it’s slow and not overly friendly either; bartenders get impatient if you ask for a taste beer before ordering a full pint, and then disappear when you’re actually ready to order something The bbq is fun(who doesn’t love bbq and beer after all) but my brisket plate was pretty fatty and honesty kind of dry. My southern friends really enjoyed their pulled pork; and for what it’s worth they do have a wide range of sauces to enjoy. My advice: Come here for some good beers and maybe an appetizer– fried pretzels are tasty and cheese stuffed!

Great beer, great bbq and great price. Although the ribs are a little dry for my liking everything is smoked there and pretty delicious. The brisket and pulled pork are awesome and then you have the pick of 6 different sauces! Overall I have not had a bad experience there.

Just average. Looks like a great sports bar. Plenty of tv’s. Cheap drinks. Bar food. Yup. The food is just plain bar food. Waitress was very friendly, and quick. Atmosphere = 8 Service = 8 Food = 5 Price = 8

I admit that I mostly come here for the Revival beer and visits to the taste room downstairs but that often leaves me hungry! The food overall is ok. I have tried many items on the menu and have determined that the basic burger works just fine if you are there anyway, but much of the menu is not as great as I would like it to be. What gives them three stars for me is the special pastrami sandwich. I am a big pastrami fan and this is by far one of the best I have ever had. I have gone back three times just for this. I only wish the rest of the menu had the same quality for the price. The bartender Chris is great but some others I have struggled to get attention from. If you are in the area and looking for a beer and a sandwich, I say come in get the White Electric Coffee Stout and the pastrami and you should be pleased.

I really want to like this place. The food is decent and the craft beers are good. My complaint is that it seems like they are letting the up keep of this place slide a bit. Went there recently and sat outside on a nice day. All the tables outside need some attention. Most are broken or warped. The flower beds where covered with weeds just looked like no one gave a damn. It’s early in the season and maybe they haven’t had a chance to attend to the outside area so I will try again. If it looks like they made an effort I will update my review. The soap dispenser in the bathroom was also broken.

Great food, great beer! Their homemade bbq sauce was awesome too. Brutopia Burger was phenomenal!

Large bar with friendly service. Great beer offerings from onsite Revival Brewing. The food is good quality and tasty. I’ve stuck mostly with the bar type food offerings such as wings and burgers. The wings are actually above bar average and I really like them. The wings, and other hot foods, come with a decent tray of different hot sauces.

I am really torn between giving a 3 star or 4 star review for Brutopia. It took us a while to give this place a try, mostly because of the varying reviews but once Revival moved in we had to go check it out finally, my husband is a HUGE fan of Revival’s beers. Let’s start with the 4 star worthy stuff.. . It is very large inside and the service was really attentive, we had a few different people stop by our table to make sure everything was alright and to refill our drinks. The beers were awesome, my favorite was the Juliette. My husband went with their current beer special which was the Daring IPL and it had green tea, mint, dragon fruit and citrus in it. It was a very interesting beer and for only $ 3 for a pint or $ 10 a pitcher how can you not give it a try? I also really liked the hush puppies, they were big and fluffy and had just the right amount of heat. They are pretty dense which is good to soak up all that beer you’re sampling. There are pool tables and dart board in the back, we didn’t play but there were a few groups that were partaking. The outdoor space looks like it would be great to hang out in once the warmer weather hits. Everything sounds great so far, so why would I want to give only 3 stars? Well the food was kind of average, not bad but not great either. I got the smoke stack burger and any burger with bacon, onion rings, and bbq sauce is my go to order, this one was kind of bland. The beef patty was a little dry and didn’t have a lot of flavor, I don’t think I could even taste any bbq sauce on it and it came with one onion ring on top. The only saving grace was that the bun was nicely toasted and buttery and the bacon was crispy. For $ 14 I expected a much better burger, luckily my husband had ordered some of the bbq so I was able to add more sauce to my burger. You get a selection of 5 bbq sauces to use, but I really only liked 2 of them. The Firestarter was my favorite, not too hot on the first taste but over time the heat built. The Honey BBQ was the other good one, tangy and not too sweet. My husband went with the BBQ Combo plate, we were a little worried because other reviews stated how small the servings were and I’ll admit at first we were thinking it wasn’t a lot but really he was almost unable to finish it all.. . even with me stealing bites of everything! There aren’t a whole lot of options for BBQ around here and this wasn’t bad, it will do if you’re really in need of a BBQ fix. He really liked the rub on the ribs and we both enjoyed the pulled pork, the brisket wasn’t bad and the chicken was a little bland but we just added more sauce to that. He got the mac & cheese for a side and it was good, the noodles weren’t mushy and it had a thick cheese sauce. I’m still unsure how I feel about the corn bread, it was really sweet, almost like a cake. It was really moist, almost to the point of being underdone but maybe that was just a fluke with the piece we got. He was pretty satisfied with his meal but again felt the price($ 25) didn’t quite match the quality. So in closing I doubt we will come back here for an actual meal again because it was too expensive for not so great food, but we certainly will add this to our watering hole list and would come back to have some beers and maybe some apps with friends.

The only reason I am giving this 3 stars is because of the beer. The Juliette Imperial and the Conga are amazing beers made by an amazing Brewer. The BBQ? Not so much. I got the sampler. For $ 25 I didn’t get much.3 ribs with a decent rub. Pulled chicken that was pretty good. The pulled pork was over cooked. The brisket was too tough. I’m not sure how they justified $ 25 for this… But ok. Whatever. I do a backyard smoker. I am not, by any means, a professional. However, I have eaten enough BBQ to know what is excellent and what isn’t. At least for my palate. Nothing was excellent except the beers The bartender had zero personality. They also forgot my corn bread. I got take our while sitting at the bar drinking s couple of beers. Settle down, Frank.

Recently tried to eat here with my wife but they failed miserably. We sat at the bar, and had to endure the blaring classic rock. I felt like it was 1978 again as ‘Stairway To Heaven’ played loudly only to be followed up with more old school staples. We ordered some beers and some food. Beers were good. We waited a while, and eventually noticed that the guys down the bar who sat after we did were now getting their food. Same with a table of four behind us, sat well after we ordered, got their food. I’d say it was 30 minutes from when we ordered. Asked the bro-dude tending bar where our food was, he said he would check on it. 5 more minutes go by, and no sign of him. I asked the more service oriented woman at the bar about our food and off she went. She did come back a little bit later with an apology and some excuse about one of the staff taking our food for themselves. So, good beer, no idea how the food is, music more suited for a stoner bonfire than a bar, and poor service. 2 stars about sums it up. Won’t be back.

Skeptical but Ok Nice beer selection at reasonable prices. The smoked meats sare good. Check out their website for daily specials… turkey leg and a beer for $ 10 or 50 cent wings… plus the NFL package The menu is not huge but the selections are interesting the food quality and portion size is very good. The beer menu is quite unique and they also have some interesting signature drinks. The prices are reasonable and the service was excellent. Our server Bill was very helpful, attentive and friendly. This was a nice change of pace and a place we will return. Thanks

I don’t really understand the subpar reviews of Brutopia. I will be upfront and say I’m not a huge BBQ fan and haven’t tried much of theirs so this may not be relevant to all Unilocalers, but I’ve been more than a handful of times now and thoroughly enjoyed everything I have ordered. If you haven’t been in a while, I would give Brutopia another chance. With a changing menu and the addition of Revival to their operation, you really can’t lose.

Not impressed. Yes, the beer is good if that’s your thing. Yes, the food is different. Who has a brunch menu that doesn’t even have brisket when you call yourself a BBQ joint? The brunch menu isn’t online, and it really isn’t that great. Might stop again at some point, but I honestly wasn’t impressed.

I was really excited to try out this brewery and kitchen and I was just a bit underwhelmed. Please keep in mind that we visited with a very large group on NYE so I would try again in an effort to raise the rating. Our server seemed like he just didn’t want to be there– when we asked to place our order, he told us to wait until our apps came out… okay? We had some dietary restrictions and asked some questions that seemed pretty logical. It just didn’t seem like our waiter was on point or understood the severity of the questions. I LOVED the pretzel for an app, we also got nachos which were cold and just not great… For dinner, I had the smoked pulled chicken which seemed like it had just been reheated. My greenbeans were very tasty and my corn bread was just meealy. I was a bit disappointed. Again, it was a large group and I would try again but I wasn’t super excited.

This place is pretty great. Not only do they have an expansive beer selection, but you know it’s fresh since they make it right there. They have beer flights that include four 4oz pours(can’t remember how much they cost), so that’s really the best way to sample a few before deciding. I opted to do a flight of IPAs, and recommend the Fanny and Burnsider – I was bummed they were out of RIPTA though. I got fish and chips, my date got a burger with bacon on it and a side of mac and cheese. I ate most of my food, most of his mac and cheese, and he devoured his burger, so it’s safe to assume we were both pretty happy. We ended up being there on a Tuesday night, which is trivia night. We left after round one, but I will say that if you’re a triviaphile, this may be a good place to go. The round one questions were insanely easy, so if you like to win at trivia and have a basic knowledge of, well, trivia, this may be the place for you. The evening ended on a bit of a down note as our server got slammed right around the time we just wanted our bill and to get the hell out of there. I’m guessing they didn’t anticipate it to be so busy in a Tuesday, but it’s also the Tuesday between xmas and New Years, so you think they would have figured. She was apologetic about ignoring us for so long, but I wish she had just taken a couple seconds to drop the check and let us leave. This is certainly a place I’ll visit again, despite that hiccup. Everything we ate tasted good and the beer went down oh so smoothly.

Hubs and I finally got to try Brutopia with some friends of ours. We really enjoyed the beer selection, especially the hubs(declared beer snob). The guys got the BBQ sampler and were delighted by each different meat item. I had a few bites of hubs’ dinner and it was very tasty. I was not in a meaty mood, so I got the fish tacos and arugula salad. Both were fresh and tasty. My gal pal got the beet salad and black bean burger, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Our service was decent. The waitress was attentive, but kept trying to take our dishes away early and kept reaching over me while I was eating. That made me uncomfortable and left me feeling rushed. Overall, not bad, though. We will definately be back and I will provide an update after a few more visits.

I’ve been around the world. Well… Ok… ¾ of it. I’ve been around the country. And I love Barbecue and good booze. And at Brutopia, they know both. Upon entry it’s big and boisterous. You see the bar and taps first. Lots of flat screens. It’s a good mix of lots of peoples. The lot was full but we were seated almost immediately. In the second room the volume cuts down a bit. There are 2 other sectioned off areas. Looks like one is for big parties. The other has a pool table. Then a patio. But it was cold out. Waiter was a bit flummoxed. But he calmed down relatively quickly. Girl got a great grapefruit cocktail. I got a Trippin Daisy(I’ll focus on the beer next time) hopped bitters, Hendrix, maraschino liquor, Americano, lemon. Awesome flavor profile. Waiter brings the sauces. Explained them. Mild honey BBQ, 3 levels of spicy, mustard based, carolina vinegar based(which the waiter said was«disgusting». Oh you silly boy. Nothing on your menu should ever be disgusting. Plus I didn’t even ask your opinion. If I had, well, that’s your opinion. In this case it was you telling me my favorite thing is gross. Don’t worry tho. I straightened him out.) Girl ordered pulled pork, Mac and cheese, corn bread and slaw to share. This boy got the combo but at 8pm all the brisket was eaten. I doubled up on pulled chicken which held the smoke in the most angelic of ways. Ethereal really. The chicken goes so well with all the sauces. But my favorite paring was the carolina. Ribs: Amazing bark. Vibrant seasoning. Tender delicate texture. Perfect fat content. In my top 5 ribs of all time. No shit. The best sauce paring was Firestarter but the honey was great too. Pulled pork: Tender, expertly pulled, just the right amount of fat, no cartilage or bone fragments, AMAZINGFLAVOR, no sauce necessary. But I did use Firestarter and Mad Mike’s(weak mouths beware. Great taste but it will hurt the inexperienced.) Mac&Cheese: perfectly cooked pasta. Silky and creamy cheese sauce. Not overly seasoned. Perfect for«cooling» the mouth after a bite of Mad Mike’s! This M&C is close to perfect. And u can get it as an entrée with veggie and protein add ons. Cornbread: moist, delicious. Crunch outside almost creamy inside. Slaw: lightly dressed, properly sliced, light crunch. Solid Slaw. I love this place. I want to try everything. And I will too;-) With the loss of LJ’s, United and the fact that I don’t even consider Wes’ … This might be my favorite Barbecue in RI. If someone wants to challenge that please message me! More smoked meats please!

So Unilocal is prompting me to review, asking me, «You’ve checked in here 3 times! What keeps you coming back?» 1. Gift Certificates people have gifted to me 2. Location 3. Hush Puppies 4. Friendly Staff I have been a little disappointed with the BBQ, but I am sure it is because I have tried many places around the U.S. that have been doing it a LONG time and doing it very well. If I were to order BBQ meat again, I would probably get the ribs and pulled pork. I like how you have a variety of sauces at the table. There is one for almost every preference. They have an extensive bar selection and decent beer selection. I had Night Swim’Ah found it to be blah. Natural Blonde was a bit better with brighter flavor and I LOVED the Juliette Imperial Stout– Cask, it was at the perfect temperature for FULL Flavor. We were disappointed with the award winning burger. The toppings were fine, but the beef patty, was weak in flavor and was dry(asked for medium). The wings were ok. Things we loved 1. HUSHPUPPIES 2. Wisconsin Fried Cheese Even though it is not top of my list of the delicious places to eat and drink in RI, I would go back because of the top 4 items I listed above. Give it a try, you might like it.

What a fun place! Great atmosphere and delicious house brewed beers. We stopped for dinner and drinks on a Thursday night and stayed for the Patriots game(they have tvs everywhere if that’s what you’re looking for!). Great service and delicious food. Try the Mac and cheese!
