Service here is god awful unless you’re a regular it seems. The bartender took my drink order and totally ignored my friend. All I can do is laugh. I’m a bartender and this is just ridiculous. If u don’t want to work. Go home. The bar isn’t even busy. Lol won’t be here again

I enjoy the Cranford Hotel. I’ve been here a whole bunch of times. It’s a nice spot to grab a beer and a meal. It’s clean. The craft beer selection(on tap) is slim, but good. The outdoor seating is nice. The wait staff are friendly, though sometimes I think the bartender in the basement bar is a little grumpy. I enjoy it and will continue to go there.

I ate here over the summer. My wife and I were walking by and it was a nice day to sit outside. The food and service was terrible. For example we order nachos and asked that instead of meat that we get guacamole. Most places just don’t charge because they save money on the meat. They ended up charging extra for it, which I wasn’t pleased about but I can get my head around. What really pushed me over the top was that it was literally the frozen kind of guacamole you can buy at Costco. The rest of the food was terrible too.

We have been here a few times and it is consistently a great time! Their bar tenders are super friendly and eager to make recommendations which is always fun! Their food is great and high end for reasonable prices. Love the lighting inside — super soft and makes for great date nights!

This is one of my favorite places to go to in the summer. It’s right on the corner. You can enjoy the beautiful weather and have a glass of wine. There’s heaters there too. I have had the steak. Quesadillas, pizza, burgers salmon grilled cheese and soups before– all great. A lot of people complain that it takes so long there– but honestly– that never bothers me. I enjoy sitting out having a glass of wine. They don’t rush you ever and they always treat my dog so well– they bring her a tin dish of water. We live down the street and always go there. I have yet to go to the bar in the basement but I hear it’s a great little spot. Casual. Great for a date night. Pet friendly.

I’ve been here before but WOW talk about absolutely no service. I’m sitting here with my group of friends and it took over 20 minutes for any server to even approach us and that was after TWO people from my party had to ask. Then the unfriendly server came here and for some reason, completely skipped around me and a friend and took everyone else’s orders. Needless to say I will never step foot in here again for food or service for that matter. Shame on them.

Great Food! Great Service & Staff! Great Place! It’s open late, outdoor dining & all for a great price! Really a great casual place especially on those late nights during the week. Highly recommended!

Had the salmon. It was good. It had honey. Also had garlic shrimp appetizer. They gave 4 shrimp with bread in garlic sauce. Nice sitting outside. Service was good.

This was a cool spot that my BF took me to for a pre-birthday dinner… It has a very relaxing atmosphere. The customer service was excellent… The waitress and servers were very attentive. It seems like a neighborhood favorite. The entrees: The spring rolls were very good and fresh. I had the steak with fries — the fries were fresh and fried to perfection — love it. The steak was also very good and tasty — I would have opted out of the blue cheese melted on top — that was a bit much. My BF had a sandwich and he too thought that it was very good and tasty — I think it was called the Grilled Chicken Pannini… I will definitely be back.

We went here on a recommendation from a friend. They loved it. I can’t say the same. It’s not a bad place, it’s just missing something. They have an outdoor patio where you can eat which looked nice. But the day we went, it was windy so we decided to eat inside. Inside was had that old tavern feel, but it felt more old and creepy then trendy. It didn’t smell inside, but I was expecting that old basement smell. They have a back room with more seating, but we were sat overlooking the patio. The view of being able to look outside was good but we just people watched. As for the food, it was good. But me vs the wife, I prefer quantity over quality. The food servings were really large which I like. But having a big plate of ok food, in the end it seemed more wasteful since I didn’t eat it all. Although I cant complain since the price was fair. It would have been a cheap meal but the beer I had was $ 9. Wasn’t expecting that at all. In the end, if your in the area, stop by and give it a try.

While some people would call it «historic feeling» I’m just gonna go ahead and say«old». The layout is more than a little awkward, with a necessary walk through the entire bar area just to get to the hostess stand. When being being shown to our seats on ‘the porch’, the rather large table we were allocated to seemed a bit crow-barred into its space and we had to awkwardly position ourselves around it. The best part was probably the beer selection. They had some items typically not found on other local beer menus, such as Forgotten Boardwalk’s Funnel Cake Ale(a personal fav). The food was definitely not as amazing as the menu’s descriptions led us to believe. I had the Duck BLT which was basically a regular BLT with a barely noticeable amount of duck breast. It was ok but definitely not worth the price I paid. My fiancé had the fish and chips, said that it was good but nothing to go out of your way for. The nachos app was pretty fun of the mill, with nothing really making it stand out. Meal was ok and I would go here again but only if it was the request of someone else. I wouldn’t offer it up as my own suggestion.

I’ve been going here for 25 years. The past 5 or so have been a downhill ride. In a nut shell… New management. New chef. New menu = Poor service & bad food. My wife and I come back every 6 months or so to see if any improvements have been made. Had a burger here Saturday night. They used to be known for their great burgers. Not so much anymore. It was dry as a bone and disappointing. The servers are always very nice, but unfortunately, they can’t seem to get anything from the kitchen? They come across as frustrated. The bar tenders are mostly good, except for one who seems to be more interested in gabbing with her friends than waiting on a couple at the bar with no drinks in front of them. The servers were clearly frustrated with her as well. I wish I could give them a better review as it’s been a staple in Cranford for many, many years. Sorry Cranford Hotel. See you in 6 months.

Ambiance is cool. Old hotel with outdoor seating. Our first time here the food and service was terrible. I gave it one more try because I like the location and they disappointed again. Not worth it. I will not return.

Lots of porch tables for an outdoor meal and good salads are nonalcoholic highlights. A recent visit revealed some service issues which could be easily fixed by more training/supervision – it took 3 requests to obtain bread, which finally arrived – but without butter and a request for iced coffee yielded a «we only serve hot coffee» without an offer to supply hot coffee and a cup of ice.

Went last night, did not get what we ordered, waiter did not care as if it was our fault. Basically stuck us with the check and a «sorry Pal» attitude. We have been going there for the past two years. Between the slow service and the numerous meals, over done pizza, under cooked burgers and this experience we are done. This place is for drinks and an appetizer nothing more.

I was at a Unilocal Event. Afterwards we all decided to come to The Cranford Hotel for after dinner drinks. We went to the lower level bar. This place reminded me of an English pub. It had dark wood and dim lights and a very comfortable feel. The bartender was very friendly and knowledgable and I could see he knew his stuff. On the walls were pictures of the previous owner and present owner along with everything that makes a bar homey. I ordered a Guinness and I watched him fill the glass slowly to let the beer settle. It was delicious and served at the proper temperature. In the back were some tables for people to have dinner or a quick nibble. I must say I used the restrooms upstairs and they were extremely clean and spacious. The next time I’m in the area I will stop in and try some of their food.

This is truly the Cheers of Cranford, and as a local, I love coming here. It’s not a fancy place and don’t expect a 5 star meal, but it’s cozy and friendly and sometimes that’s all you need at the end of a long day. Draft beer changes fairly regularly and the bar food is good. Plus Tony is the best bartender in town!

Food is really quite… um. Bad. Have a couple fail-proof apps if you must. But just stick with cocktails here.

Bad food, bad atmosphere & even worse staff. The inside of the restaurant needs updating badly & the food(we ordered the nachos) left much to be desired — stale chips, cheese that tasted like it came can. Our sodas we’re flat & getting a refill was like pulling teeth. There are so many great places to eat in Cranford — try somewhere else. Also, I posted a photo from our visit & this lovely business reported it to Unilocal — seriously?!? The photo was a pic of my husband with the light at our table hanging just barely above his head, with the caption«Does your lamp hang low, does it wobble to & fro.» I can now see how terribly offensive that most have been — or wait, are you just a little sensitive about your outdated décor & dare I say low hanging lamps. Just skip this place– look at how many of the reviews say this place is terrible & then their are enough«amazing» reviews(probably by friends or people that would be happy to eat at Denny’s) to keep them from having to face the truth; update your restaurant, get some good staff, stop serving bad food.
