Nice inside and good service. Not really ocean view. Just ok for being very expensive italian food.

The food was subpar, nothing Italian. The spaghetti carbonara had no taste and was bland. The service was horrible. The waitress was Inattentive to our needs, the manager was slow to respond and wouldn’t offer our $ 20– open table rewards. Don’t waste your time

Excellent restaurant. We ate outside and the food was delicious. Our service was fantastic and we enjoyed the live music. We will certainly dine here again. Try the scallops — they were fantastic!!!

Staying at the del Coronado and decided to go for a stroll in search of a pleasant afternoon dining experience. Vigilucci’s hit it right on the head. Food was a strong 8.5÷10 and Carl made the meal. My wife and I have a allergy restriction and he was patient and made sure everything was great. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and if you are lucky you will have Carl as your waiter.

I was visiting the San Diego area for work and had a chance to do a little sightseeing of the area. On the recommendation of friends we ventured over to Hotel Del Coronado for drinks and then headed over to Vigilucci’s for dinner which was a short 8 – 10 minute walk from the hotel. When you arrive in the foyer area, there is a beautiful«water wall» that helps set the ambiance. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We had reservations and were quickly seated on the patio. Even though it’s close to the beach this is definitely not your typical beach front restaurant, but inside felt much more upscale than the outside patio where we were. I didn’t pay attention when we were inside, but if you’re sitting on the patio outside you can hear a piano player who is in the bar area which is connected to the outside patio. Our server took a little long for my personal taste to come over, but once he did, he was attentive. Once we ordered our drinks, I had an Orange martini, my friends had martinis as well, we received bread. We started out with the Artichoke appetizer which came out fairly quickly and was very tasty. I had the lasagna, my friends ordered the veal(parmesan style) and chicken parmigiana. While the service was a little slow and sparse at times, when our server was at the table he was attentive. That said, the food was absolutely amazing! It was well flavored and I even figured out how to keep my food cold enough the next day to take my leftovers on a flight back to the east coast! Definitely worth the 20 minute drive from San Diego and a must do if you’re staying in Coronado.

Outstanding in every way. Like many, was a guest at that Del. Restaurant is beautiful inside. Four of us had a great table in the main room but right by open air window. Menu was the best I have seen in a long time and I travel 100 nights per year. Wine list was extensive with something for everyone. Started with a stags leap and ended with a Brunello. We had 2 caprese. Many options but that was just what we were in the mood for. Veal salt, lobster ravioli, and 2 sea scallops. The scallops was the most amazing presentation and I don’t eat seafood! I have worked in top restaurants in RI and Boston and I knew this place was a find the minute I stepped in and saw the menu. Unfortunately i could only have one dinner there this week. Can’t wait to come back. And the service was all that you would expect! I’d give 10 stars if I could!!!

Found this GEM on accident because the Brigantine was closed. So we came across and decided to eat here. Very upscale, clean and friendly environment. Once walking in we enjoyed the view both in the dining area as well as the patio outside. Our server Juan was attentive, we didn’t have to ask for refills of any kind because he was already two steps ahead. Everyone else was helpful and very nice aswell. Great staff. I chose the Insalata con Gamberoni, which is Mixed greens, roasted bell peppers, tomatoes, avocado, grilled red onion, chopped green onion, cannellini beans, feta cheese, cilantro and rock shrimp tossed with honey-dijon vinaigrette. Topped with a grilled jumbo prawn. I asked for a side of goat cheese and extra dressing which made it perfect. I ate every single bit and was filled with satisfaction. We will definitely be back in again. So glad we stumbled on this place. Thank you!

Our son picked this place for dinner on his 18th birthday. What can I say? he has good taste… Best meal we’ve had in a long time. All eight of us really enjoyed what we ordered(3 had the cioppino, which is huge; veal parmigiana; pasta with lobster; tuna tartare). The waiter was attentive and great with the younger kids. He also recommended a very nice, moderately priced super Tuscan from the extensive wine list. View is nice. Yes, it will cost you. But for a special occasion it is an excellent choice.

Stumbled upon Vigilucci’s yesterday with Maridel A. while we were strolling along near Hotel Del Coronado for Mother’s Day. Vigilucci’s is located just across the street from the hotel. They have fancy indoor seating as well as patio dining. We decided to eat outside since the weather was nice and hot. It’s a nice place to go for weekend brunch/lunch it has a great atmosphere to it. It would also be a great place to go to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays etc. They serve a nice basket of hot bread and oil. mmmm I ordered the ravioli that come with ricotta, it’s usually served with red sauce but I requested white sauce on my order and they happily accommodated me. Their typical Sunday brunch menu looked so delicious and I wanted to order eggs benedict but unfortunately since it was Mother’s Day they had a different menu. The servers were all very attentive and friendly. I would love to come back here again when I visit Coronado.

Holey mackerel this place was a gem especially since I needed to find a tasty place that was opened for dinner at 4PM nearby the Hotel Del! I had their $ 40 cioppino which I thought was worth the price with all the seafood they give you. Will come back again before my conference is over to taste their pasta selection.

I believe this is some Authentic Italian food since I go to Olive Garden all the time. Chicken Parm Spaghetti aglio e olio is me fave. Fettuccine bolognese is my husbands fave. My friend got the lasagna bolognese which was great as well. Appetizers we get the crab cakes and prawns. Two large Prawns comes with this awesome cocktail sauce with shrimp and avocado inside was great! Great service and they gave us a complimentary tiramisu bday cake for my husband bday. Good food with good old friends and I am in an absolute food coma right now.

I could smell the yummy smells wafting across the street to our hotel from the minute I parked at our hotel. I couldn’t wait to go try this place out & it did not disappoint! The food was delicious, the service was great. Nice selection for even picky eaters. Give it a try if you are in the area!

This restaurant was a wonderful surprise on our recent visit to Coronado. While staying at The Del, Vigilucci’s was just a short walk from the resort. I knew I was craving Italian food when we saw the restaurant. We were seated right away, and we were brought out drinks and bread quickly. While my son ordered the kid’s penne pasta with marinara, I ordered the chicken parmigiana. My husband, not really in the mood for Italian, ordered a burger with truffle fries. The food seemed to take a while to get to us but was really good when it finally arrived. My son thoroughly enjoyed his pasta. While my chicken parmigiana was good, I thought it was just a tad dry. My husband said his burger was really good, but we agreed the truffle fries were amazing. At the end of our meal, we had to look at the dessert menu. With the help of our server, we decided on the Tortino al Cioccolato. With a chocolate lava cake served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, we had the perfect end to our lunch. This dessert was wonderful. Service was great here as well. Everyone was friendly and helpful here. The drinks were refilled constantly, and they checked on us often. It seemed like they went out of their way to make this a nice dining experience. For relaxing meal with delicious food and great service, this is wonderful spot to grab lunch or dinner when visiting Coronado.

I visited Vigilucci’s many times over the last years and being a creature of habit, I often order the same dishes. This visit I ordered the gnocchi sorentino and the costaletta milanese parmigiana along with the soup of the day and the Cesar salad and two bottles of good Italian wine from more remote regions. The wine was excellent as always, the salad as expected, the costaletta amazing. If you visit this restaurant order the veal costaletta it mirrors anything one will find visiting Italy. Sadly, this visit the gnocchi fell short of all expectations. Mi Nona(my very Italian grandmother) taught me to make gnocchi at age 12. The gnocchi served tonight did not resemble anything I ever experienced anywhere from the north to the south of Italy. Large, lumpy, hard and resembling the texture of apricots, this was not gnocchi. Worse, when I politely brought the to the attention of management, I received a discourse and defense of the properness of the gnocchi. Bottom line, I judge a restaurant by their gnocchi. Without personal experience I would presume the Olive Garden offers better gnocchi. Worse the manager should learn not to defend indefensible food and instead correct the problem. My suggestion try Bencotto or Buona Forchetta!

This is a 5-star review for Vigilucci’s Happy Hour! My friends and I were looking for a happy hour near the Lamb’s Playhouse. Not knowing Coronado, I was happy to find Vigilucci’s a 2 minute walk away. The location was actually perfect. It is on the main drag of Orange Ave., near plenty of free street parking(at least during winter), and, like I said, right by the theater. I arrived before my friends and was warmly greeted by the bartender. I was soon to find out that this is one of the best happy hours in San Diego. First, it goes until 7PM which is a huge plus for anyone who works until 5. Beer and wine are $ 5(Cab or Chardonnay), and they have a list of happy hour cocktails. They also had a list of special happy hour appetizers and a longer list of regular happy hour appetizers. I chose a cozy booth in the bar area to wait for my friends, as was given a small, complimentary bruschetta platter(see photo). The bruschetta was really delicious, and it was a nice touch. My friends were stuck in rush hour traffic, so, to ensure that we had plenty of time to make it to the theater, I ordered our appetizers. They came out quickly… so quickly that my friends still had not arrived. It was really nice of the manager to come by and ask it I wanted them reheated, as I was waiting for my friends before eating. My favorites were the lamb sliders(delicious) and the mushroom and veggie arancini. While I was waiting for my friends, I enjoyed Christmas carols that were being played on the piano. The atmosphere was really classy. Once my friends did arrive, they also enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. We ordered the pasta with vodka sauce which I also recommend. All in all, Vigilucci’s was an excellent Happy Hour choice! I definitely plan to return next time I go out to a show at Lamb’s.

After Brigantine. Walked across the street to Vigilucci’s. I’ve never been to this location and the only reason I know of this restaurant is because of the La Jolla location I’ve been to. Round 2 on our spontaneous restaurant/bar hopping venture. We didn’t know that happy hour was till 5pm on a Saturday(during the 4th of July) and had 15mins to get in an order. Atmosphere: A modern style italian restaurant. Elegant décor. Plenty of seating with a nice patio deck. Service: So-So. Seated promptly for the bar. It was moderalty busy and a few open seats left at the bar. one of the bartenders that was servicing us gave me a weird vibe. maybe considering when we were about to take a seat, we were abruptly asked questions about what did you come in for and after we had answered a couple questions was when the menus were brought out. i brushed off since my fiancée’ and i were only here for a quick stop to try it out. and then had noticed it was happy hour and come to think, maybe the bartender was stalling so we don’t take advantage of it since we had only 15mins left. He also was more friendly with locals and people he knew compared to my fiancée and I whom he treated us mediocrely. All other servers were great and much more friendly. Food/Drinks: happy hour menu till 5pm –Truffle fries: i am big on fries and by far one of the best seasoned crispy. great portion. –oysters on a half shell: 6 for 10.50 fresh colombia oysters. not bad during happy hour. –lemon drop martini’s: a little on the sweet end for me. was lookin’ for a tangy bite. — Complimentary bruschetta happy hour bar only, appetizer only at bar with cheese/olives. Overall: a very nice place, especially for happy hour on a Saturday. Great value for happy hour and quality of food. 3 stars cause of service. Felt like that one bartender paid more attention and treated his regulars better than newer customers.

The server was delightful. The patio seating even more so. The kitchen service was super fast especially for the complex and amazing and varied dishes they were turning out. The crab cake app is amazing. The cakes are big balls completely packed with crab — no filler! The breading that surrounds them is very slight. They are served with a nice arugula salad with lemony dressing. The menu called them homemade and it’s 100% believable. The entrée I got which was the salmon was a big serving and so flavorful. It was served grilled king over lentils with a tiny amount of pancetta and leeks. The whole dish was finished with a saffron-garlic aioli and the salmon placed over a bed of spinach. Delicious! The salmon was cooked perfectly and not over done. My guest ordered the chicken parm. The was served on a fascinating massive teardrop plate. The chicken was circular also. The chicken parm was not gobbed with cheese, but presented appetizingly. The cheese and sauce was contained to the top of the chicken and a clean plate was presented. Unique sorbet flavors were on the dessert menu — the peach was brilliant and tasted like pureed peaches! I recommend this spot in downtown Coronado. I Ubered here from my hotel, the Loews, for just $ 10.

We had our after wedding dinner at Vigilucci’s and it was nothing short of perfect. I was in touch with the event coordinator Kim from a few months prior to our dinner. We stopped by the restaurant one day to check out the menu and the restaurant itself. The service was great and the manager suggested that we set up a formal tasting with Kim where we could sample 4 or so items from the menu we were thinking about choosing for our special night. The tasting went very well. Once again the service was great so we were sold. We booked our event with Kim who was extremely courteous and hospitable in answering my million questions and fulfilling my thousand requests(e.g. personalizing the menu, setting up decorations beforehand, having a signature drink, etc). Just as planned on the day of our wedding my 20 or so guests were greeted with our signature drink while we stayed behind and took couples photos at the beach. Shortly after we arrived family style appetizers were brought out, our dinner orders were taken and we were served. Our entrée choices included Penne Vodka con Porcini e Gamberetti, Pollo ai Funghi Porcini, Spaghetti Portofino, Salmone al Finocchio, and Filetto al Gorgonzola. Everyone LOVED their food. Usually at a dinner with such a large crowd someone is bound to be disappointed by their meal but that was not the case at Vigilucci’s. The service was GREAT as always. My guests were full and the drinks kept flowing. They even wrapped up the leftover appetizers for me to take home and offered each guest with leftovers the same courtesy. We ate and drank for hours and the service never ceased to be perfect. One of my favorite parts of the evening was when my new husband and I got to enjoy a dance as the gentleman on the piano played«All of Me». All in all it was a prefect ending to our wedding day. Thank you Vigilucci’s!
