As someone who lives in Coronado part time, let this serve as a warning to the tourists that this is a restaurant that should probably be avoided. We were warned by several local high school kids, but had to see for ourselves. It started out with a short pour on a $ 14 glass of Cakebread wine and went south from there. We never saw our original waiter again after we made him aware of the problem. The food was also very mediocre at best. If you’re in Coronado and need to get your sushi fix, my suggestion would be to go across the street to Bistro D’asia or for a pure sushi play, visit Saiko Sushi further down on Orange. I rarely give a poor review, but Yummy Sushi was very deserving of these two stars.

Okay so yes it’s expensive, I see that comment on a lot of posts. I cringe sometimes when I see the bill, I get it. It’s just the way it is in Coronado because the rental fees the businesses have to pay are insane. With that being said, I go to Yummy maybe once a week. I eat at the sushi bar itself and LOVE the head sushi chef. He’s constantly reinventing rolls and they are delicious. I normally just ask him to make me whatever he wants and I’m alway happy he did. I’m a huge toro fan and because of him I have opened my eyes to bluefin and other amazing sushi! Out of all the sushi places on Coronado this is the best. Sorry but Saiko is always a huge let down for me.

I highly recommend the protein sashimi platter. I haven’t been served that nice looking of sushi anywhere else! It looked too good to eat. But of course, all good things come to an end. What a bittersweet moment to have seen and to have devoured.

Good sushi, esp the crispy lobster tempura and yakisoba, and Good, cheerful waitress. Had fun and it’s the perfect spot to go if your out-of-town friends want to go to The Del. AND they have live shrimp in an aquarium – but can’t say we tried ‘em!

Definitely wasn’t the freshest tuna I’ve had. Staff was really nice but I had to ask if I could get a beverage instead of him asking us. Decently priced.

My first time at this place and I love the food. The service was good and very fast. Well we did go on a Thursday and I have heard weekends are packed. I really liked it and will be returning very soon!

Nice cuts and fresh quality fish is all I ask for which seems to be hard for a lot of places. This place gets it.

Service is pretty slow and staff seems ‘stressed’ which I did not get. It took a while for us to get seated and the hostess kept asking if we had a reservation which confused me. We got the yummy crunchy roll and the sushi dinner combo. Both of them really good. Totally recommend them. Some cold sake and Riesling. Very satisfied as well. The girls bathroom was dirty dirty. I enjoyed my valentines dinner. Don’t think I will be coming back. Girls bring your hair up, otherwise you’ll end up smelling like fried fish. Liked saiko sushi in Coronado way better

The service is horrible we had to flag Down a bus boy to bring us extra water and our check. They never acknowledged my husband and I. They walked passed our table and took a longtime to bring us our food.

Service ok. However, sashimi was still frozen(especially the maguro). Worse, there was a rubber band on the grape leaf in the sashimi dish!(Server did not care. Just tried to expand why it happens… as if it regularly happens).

TAKEOUT — The items I ordered, I kept it simple for the reason being one it’s just me and my one year old and two I’m pregnant so I can’t have some of the exotic and special rolls(let alone eat a whole order by myself). When I called, I ordered a Katsu combination with California roll(8pcs) and they told me it’d take 20 minutes, since I didn’t live too far I left at the half way mark with enough time for my food to still be hot. When I received it, it was package nicely but my food was cold. There was so much condensation in the packaging that you can tell it had been left out for awhile. Chicken Katsu — bland and soggy, rice was cold, but the sauce in the salad was pretty good. California Roll — For the ginger haters, this one is for you! Since they packaged it up in a plastic container the first thing you can smell was the ginger. Of course, sitting out for so long my rolls tasted like ginger and I just couldn’t finish it. It was not the best California Rolls I’ve tasted. In fact, store bought would’ve probably tasted better. Never coming here again cause their sushi was definitely not yummy!

Best sushi in Coronado. having a view by the water is very nice to have and the staff is very knowledgeable on all products. Food was very delicious. I have gone on weekends and it’s not been very busy so the food seems to come out quick. I enjoy coming here.

We have eaten here before but tonight was truly special. Everything from the service to the quality of the meal to the promptness and timing of the courses. The appetizers and drinks were served within 4 minutes of ordering(for the cold ones) and 6 minutes(for the hot ones). The age dashi tofu was lightly crispy on the outside and rich and creamy inside while the seaweed salad was rich and refreshing. Our beers were served in an ice cold mug that didn’t get a chance to chill. Our dinners were quite lovely and came out after the appetizers had been consumed. The sushi dinner had 8 different nigiri that were generously portioned, and exceedingly fresh. The best out of the nigiri had to have been the tuna. The chicken katsu was lightly breaded and crispy on the outside but still tender on the inside. The sweet teriyaki glaze that accompanied it was the perfect counterpoint to the savory chicken. All in all a great way to start off the evening. Who says Tuesday can’t be date night?

I like the selection a lot, a bit pricy. Only bummer if you want sashimi only comes in 6 pieces, which is a lot if you want to try several fish. They have Uni, live sea urchin, which should be good, but I wasn’t willing to try for $ 9.95. I highly recommend for the menu selection, a lot of interesting roles. You can also see the ocean a little.

I came here for dinner before prom with my date(we didn’t feel like eating at a really fancy place). We made a reservation(we didn’t really have to) and were seated immediately. We ordered the chicken teriyaki and a California Beach Roll. The chicken teriyaki came with either tempura or a California roll(we got the roll). This was my first time getting a non-sushi item at a sushi place. I really enjoyed it! The salad that came with it was very tasty. The California Beach Roll was nice to look at and even better to eat. It had baked scallops on the top that were cooked perfectly. Sauce made it even better. Only thing I would say is that many of their very good rolls seem to have tuna. We didn’t want to get raw tuna in fear of getting salmonella, which is going around right now. Other than that, prices were good and food was really tasty!
