I tried to go here the other day, and it’s closed down. It’s too bad because this place had good sushi and great tempura.

Attentive service, low sodium soy sauce and pretty decent sushi. Lunch specials are pretty good deals. Been to much better but not a bad place. Would go again.

Didn’t test everything, but for what I had this place is real good. I went in for 2 sushi plates and they gave me free soup to try just for coming into the restaurant! Just the service and the idea of letting your customer’s try things for free is a +1 in my book. I had the Philadelphia Roll and the Fire Dragon Roll. Both were real good. I gave it a 4 because that was my first experience there and I don’t know all they have to offer. I recommend this place to anyone and I will be returning there for more good food.

The first time I stepped foot in this place it reeked of grease, and we actually left because we thought that was a bad sign. A few months later we gave it another try and it wasn’t too bad. The sushi was good, I just didn’t like how much mayonaise or whatever it was on top. I got the Tonkatsu, it was pretty damn good I must say, and my boyfriend got the spicy chicken, which was awesome, the best of our two dishes. The ambiance is cute, and the employees are very nice. It’s not quite as fancy as some other places around here, but maybe thats why I like it a little bit.

Sorry to burst the bubble but after living in Boston I know good sushi. I paid less for an eel roll there where the fish was fresh! Prices were not unaffordable just a bit much for what you get. Yes, I did get take-out and perhaps I’ll edit my review if I DO give this place a chance to dine in person but as soon as I made my 3 minute trek back to my newly moved in condo I opened my box to discover sushi rolls whose rice was not packed tightly enough and I had to eat it with a spoon-forget dipping it in the soy sauce-it’d fall apart! Also, it would be nice to have a few chairs right inside the door to sit on while you are waiting or perhaps offer your take-out orders a glass of water while they wait expecially if they tip you!

This is my favorite Asian place in Iowa City. Their Tepenyaki is nice, their sushi is always good, and the service is great. I keep changing my order when I go here. I either get the Tepenyaki NY Strip and scallops, or lately the Fried Chicken and some sushi rolls.

Terrible, terrible, terrible. The food left much to be desired. And Lipton tea bags in a Japanese restaurant is just wrong. The aural atmosphere grated on my nerves as well. The sound of the waterfall, which was quite nice, was the background for the tv, additional music, and the occasional sound of the doorbell that rang throughout the restaurant. I would have been happy to overlook that if the food was good, but it just added to an unpleasant experience with the poor quality of the food. I would have been happier with a $.10 package of ramen.

Went with my Sis and her husband. We enjoyed quite a few of the drinks. they do have a full bar. We all enjoyed the Monkey Brains appitizer, even though, they REALLY do look like monkey brains. Mushrooms stuffed with crab. we went for the Monday night ½ off sushi special and had a table full and definatly left happy.

i give this place a 3.5 star, but let the record show 4 stars because the clear and miso soups were great. located somewhere between Texas Roadhouse and Buffalo Wild Wings, this place doesn’t really have a blaring marquee so you may miss it… but i wouldn’t call it a hole in the wall either.(i should probably bring it back down one notch for having asian brush fonts in their business name… honestly, this is a classic stereotype. asian looking fonts look foreign to asians and has nothing to do with real brush strokes. but the staff does wear kimonos i guess.) anyway, back to the restaurant. they’ve got a good selection of teppanyaki which is really tasty. everything about their sushi was great except for the rice(not really soft, if you ask me). the service was definitely wonderful and friendly. there is a light changing waterfall feature in the middle of the room. and if you’ve got an eye that is sensitive to lasers, be sure not to look into the green disco laser thingy that they’ve got for ambiance. all in all, great alternative to the other places in Coralville &IC. we’d definitely go back.
