I agree with the post that found the staff rude. I was accosted repeatedly by salesperson after salesperson offering to «help». When I explained I was just looking, I was repeatedly told, «ok, I guess you’re allowed to do that.» Huh? Allowed? Don’t stores want you to browse? That way you can see whether they have anything you like? And didn’t you just hear me explain I wanted to look around to the last guy that popped up? After being followed around by staff that seemed suspicious of my presence, I opted to leave. The furniture was ok — I was looking primarily at patio sets, but with the exception of one or two pieces, they lacked any kind of modern design sense, The patio tables were trapped in the ‘80s and I have frankly seen more attractive furniture at Lowes. I’m going to try Room and Board or Crate and Barrel instead, and suck up the shipping fees.

I bought a high end leather couch at ralston creek in Iowa City. The staff was extraordinarily rude to my wife and myself. On top of being over the top rude I had to call the manufacturer of the couch to get an owners manual and warranty info because ralston doesn’t know anything about their products and apparently threw away the owners booklet. I also tried to get pricing on some hot tubs at a different time. I am not a rich old man so I assume they thought I wasn’t serious. They told me they didn’t have prices and would have to call me. Never got a call, bought a hot tub at a different vender.

Ralston Creek is one of a number of furniture stores on the Coralville strip that have things I’d like, but not things I need or can afford at this time! They’ve got a good selection of recliners, sofas, leather furniture, spas and their big item — Fireplaces. I was unaware that fireplaces are for purchase separate from a house, but it’s nice to know now! Overall, the selection is nice, but it’s much more in the price range of someone who’s outfitting a 300K house. Sofa’s are routinely in the 2−5K range and most of the dining sets and patio sets are upscale. They routinely have sales and almost always have clearance items that bring the prices down to an arm and a portion of a leg. If you’re looking to outfit a nice place or get true«grown up» furniture, this could be your spot. For those of us who aren’t quite there with the paycheck, better to find yourself at some of the other establishments in the area.
