Pollo Tropical

So I came by yesterday, I don’t come as much as I used to. I was pleasantly surprised with the service. I got the family meal with chicken rice and beans. asked for my chicken well done and not only the cashier went to tell the grill-​man directly, she then checked to make sure AND changed it, since apparently didn’t meet her standards, the beans were nice and creamy and I liked that the yuca fries are now bite sized. There are a lot of new and tasty sauces at the condiment bar and I didn’t have to wait that long for my food, even though the drive-​thru was packed. Much improved!

EVERYTHING IS ALWAYS SOO STICKY! I come here once in a while. When I do it’s like they just put water on their rags when they clean. Their tables, chairs, and even salt/​pepper shakers are FILTHY. It sucks because I like their prices and menu. Unfortunately, the Atlantic and McNab locations are the closest to me and they both have the same problem.

Fan of PT but this store is the pits. Either they are woefully understaffed or the employees are poorly trained. The drive thru line constantly wraps around the building and the service is unjustifiably slow… Not talking about lunch rush here, more like 9 PM on a Friday.
Before you go in, peek in the window and see if all the kitchen screens are red. If so, that means everyone’s food is taking forever to come out. When I see that I make a U turn and go somewhere else and I’m probably not the only one.
(There are also a lot of flies around the sauce island for whatever that’s worth.)
This place needs a district manager to come over a few times and shake things up.

This is the place to get value for your dollar. Everything on the menu is inexpensive, and every penny spent gets you fuller and fuller. They have a variety of condiments to put with your order and have desserts too (Tres Leches for the win). Plus, the food actually tastes like real food! Unlike many fast food chains were food quality is ridiculously poor, this place sure isn’t.

Best ‘fast food’ around. The sauces are amazing, not that the food needs additional flavoring. Love the curry mustard sauce.

The food is ok but the service is the worst! 10 min to go through drive thru –no one ahead of me and all I ordered was a chicken wrap and soup.

One of the best serviced locations I have been to. They move quickly and get your order right!

Drive Thru customers beware. The odds of this drive thru forgetting one of your orders is very likely at this 800 University Dr location

The food is ok– its’ nothing spectacular but it beats McDonald’s when you’re in a hurry and want to do fast-​food. I would give it 4 stars except there is ALWAYS a line at lunch and dinner times. I mean a LONG line. Last time I went in around 6pm and stood in line for at least 10 minutes, then got to the counter only to be told, «No, we’re out of that» for every item I wanted. They had nothing left but basic chicken. No ribs, no shrimp, no balsamic tomatoes, etc, all the things my kids and husband like most.
The good stuff: The black beans and rice are really good, as are the ribs. My husband LOVES the balsamic tomatoes. Also, they sell this incredible sugar-​free iced tea called «Juicy Peach» tea made by Brisk that is not sold in stores. I have only ever seen it at Arby’s and Pollo Tropical. It’s so good I will actually stop by there during the day and get a big cup of it even if I am not ordering food. YUM.
The Meh stuff: The chicken tends to be dry and the rolls are not soft and warm– they taste like they got them off the day-​old bread rack. They come with every meal but we usually end up throwing them out.

Love health food and although this isn’t the «healthiest» food you could buy it’s still better than Burger King or mcdonalds. I love the tropichop with the garlic cilantro sauce is serious! Filling and full of protein! I’d give it 5 stars but they gotta get them lines in check!

Good to meet the chx rice bean craving but def better places for it for just as cheap. chx isnt always fresh. boiled yuca is inconsistent. fried yuca is usually good. hot sauce not touching la granja. tropichop meals are pretty good. pickup window is straight horrible never fails that theyll screw your order up so check before leaving. yellow rice not much flavor. some pollos are fresher than others. good meal for the price though

Fast Food– Chicken on the Grill. Luv the salads. Always too busy at lunch time be prepared to wait and wait and wait and get your food when you have no time left to eat it.
