Stopped in here for a late lunch/early dinner after a show at the #StageDoorTheater with friends who recommended it. Nothing better than a locally owned restaurant when the food is good… this was fantastic! We are fans of Peruvian in general but Tumi set the bar. The ceviche appetizer was so delicious we shared with a hungry party of five and it was enough to have as my main course. If I had take out I would be eating that now for breakfast. The fresh bread with the super spicy dipping sauce(love it that way, and this one is tasty and hot!) was warm and delish. We all cleared out plates of the perfectly prepared chimichurri, churrasco steaks, grilled and fried, and the fresh veggies. Hubby had steak and shrimp which were really mini-lobsters and done to perfection with a light buttery garlic dipping sauce. He can’t wait to go back for the seafood soup which had delicate, soft and fresh calamari, lobster, and shrimp that melted in our mouthes. May I recommend dinner and a show at the theater? Perfect date night! Yum!

I grew up with Peruvian food in New York. And Peruvian food is very popular in the tri-state area. So yes, I’m very picky with my food. Tumi is the best Peruvian restaurant I have been in south Florida. Especially at lunch time, prices are great! I love pescado a lo macho, lomo saltado, parihuela soup, chaufa de marisco. I usually order the pescado saltado, and it’s very good.

Do not waste your time, money or sweat coming into this place. Went in on a Sunday afternoon with my family, there were 7 tables having lunch so the place was not too terrible busy, however they only had 2 waiters and what seemed to be the owner watching how they worked. Yeah! Great leadership skills dude! they took forever to take our order, water, appetizers, food and eventually the check. We wanted to get out of there as soon as possible since the A/C seemed not to be working. The ceviche was flavorless, the conchitas a la chalaca were mediocre, the arroz chaufa was eehh, the only good thing was the jalea and the lucuma ice cream. Other than that, if you are peruvian stay far away from here!

Food was alright kinda pricy for what it is. The service was not that great they took a long time to come back for everything. I had to take the check to the cashier because we had to go.

Reasons to go: FRIENDLYSERVICE– the waitresses know my family here because we enjoy coming so often. They have been friendly to us since day one, and we have never had an issue with customer service. QUICKSERVICE– I am always impressed with how fast they get the food out. I mean this isn’t McDonald’s but considering they make their food in house, its a very reasonable time. NICEATMOSPHERE– The décor is really quaint, and homey. It doesn’t feel like its your house, but it feels like it is the house of a well off friend who has a maid. Always clean, good selection of traditional music, and tasteful peruvian decorations. This is also a great date spot, it is quiet, tasteful, and it won’t hurt your wallet too much. GOODLUNCHSPECIALS– For about the price of a meal at Wendy’s you can have a much bigger, and better meal here for lunch. WARMFRESHBREAD– They bring out bread and butter when you first sit down. But be careful it is hot for real! I’ve literally burnt my mouth because I was too excited for this haha GOODFOOD– I love their lomo saltado, their anticuchos, black bean soup, and of course their picarones!!. The lomo is definitely one of the best lomo’s I’ve had in a long time. So moist, and the meat is always tender, and no soggy fries!(which is a frequent flaw with lomo saltado). Their black bean soup feels like a warm hug on the inside, and with the diced onions they give you? It’s just my favourite thing on a chilly day. Finally their picarones are definitely the best I’ve had outside of Peru. They don’t have them all the time but when they do GETTHEM!!! GOODPORTIONSIZE– I have never left hungry here, and usually have enough to take home with me. In Peru we tend to order several entrees and share them in a communal fashion. So their poriton sizes aligns with that mentality, often I split my dish with my guest. Reasons to not go: As much as I like a lot of their food, I have had a few of their dishes that were lack luster. I didn’t like their grilled chicken when I ordered it, it was dry and a bit too chewy for my tastes. There was also an incident when I ordered their tallarines verdes and the meat that came with it tasted like fish and was really chewy. I am not sure if it is the quality of meat that they buy for that particular dish, but I tend to avoid their grilled dishes. That being said their other dishes have always been good to me. OVERALL: I am happy to live close to this place, and that the food is good. It feels like my own personal secret because it is so small it is often overlooked. I tell everyone I know to go there :) Especially my peruvian friends! This is a small place, with a lot of character, good food, and great service. RECOMMENDATIONS: Lomo saltado, black bean soup, anticuchos, papa a la huancaina, and of course PICARONES! Thanks for reading this, and happy eating!

Asked not medium spiced ceviche, they served me a ceviche so hot we could barely finish it. The ceviche mixto did not have any octopus or squid just a bunch of little shrimps. Then we ordered a seafood chaufa I took 3 bites of it and got bloated like a balloon. Had to rush home and take alka-seltser. Never again!

Very authentic environment. Nice selection of appetizers All were quite good. Civiche was yummy. Skirt steak not so much. Paella was flavorless, and veggies served with steak were frozen bagged. Authentic band was quite good.
