+ close to restaurants, movie theatre, and freeway — no wifi for 5 days, dated room, old concave mattresses Stayed here for 4 nights a couple of weeks ago and what a nightmare it was. First of all, this is an old place, everything in the room was dated. The fridge never worked as soon as we came in(nobody tests these things?) so that had to be replaced. I had office work to do, and they had no internet access for the 5 whole days we were there. Called the front desk almost everyday regarding this and it was broken promise after promise. What kind of hotel has a service contract with a company that can’t get the internet working for over 5 days? That’s ridiculous. I advised the hotel GM that is was super important to get internet in order to get work done, and the only solution she presented was to drive to the Marriott Courtyard across the business park and use their lobby internet each night. Really? I was tired after being out all day, the last thing I wanted to do was to drive to the Courtyard at midnight – totally unreasonable. Beds were very uncomfortable as their mattresses dipped in the middle. No thick comforter as well. On top of it, you would think with advising them of our issues they would have at least cleaned the room each day, nope. During the 4 night stay it was cleaned only once by the housekeeping staff. The only benefit of this place is the location to the great movie theatre, some pricey old restaurants, and the freeway(though there was still a ton of construction going on and off of it). We will not be returning, and I advise anyone to stay away from this place.

Place has gone downhill enough for me to not stay here again. Floors feel sticky. Room cleaned after 5pm but they didn’t change sheets or clean the sink. They didn’t greet us as Platinum members when we arrived. Worse is the wifi is broken and they kept promising it would be fixed the next day. Done here.

Our troubles with this hotel began shortly after check-in. I am a frquent traveler so I used my rewards points for this stay on my visit to Columbus. Once we got all of our stuff unloaded(we have 3 small children, so this was a ton of stuff), I sat down to watch some TV. I looked down a noticed I was covered in FLEAS! The room was infested. They were all over me and the kids. Needless to say, I was disgusted. The front desk moved us to another room where there were used toiletries still in the bathroom. Again, I question how clean this hotel was. Being a frequent Marriott customer, I requested a call from Management. They never called. Don’t stay here and Marriott lost a customer over this hotel. Gross.

We have stayed in towne suites at other locations and they were very nice, not so much here. The rooms are worn and carpets in our room is ripped with tacks sticking up between living area and kitchen. The dishes and flat wear were dirty so I had to scrub before using. The worst however was the fry pan was not only dirty but full of mold. Yikes! It is really nasty here, stay away!

So when is a Marriott not a Marriott? This place. We were spending a weekend in Columbus and looking for an affordable place to stay that was centrally located. Up in Worthington(North of Columbus), just outside the Ring road, is a series of hotels in a grouping. Marriott’s, Hilton’s, Sheraton, Holiday Inn, even a Motel 6. This grouping on hotels is fairly easy to find, and allows you fast access into Columbus downtown core. There are also a number of restaurants from Subway to Columbus Fish Market, surrounding a movie complex. Surprisingly, most of the hotels were pricey, unless you want to stay a Motel 6, but even it seem higher than the average Motel 6. I travel with either Hilton or Marriott, and we selected this place over the Court Yard because the Towne Place offers a breakfast included in the cost of the room. The Breakfast offering was cereal, coffee, yogurt, and package muffins — so we had cereal one morning. The design of the place is for longer term residence, with each room having a kitchenette — stove, microwave, frig, and dishwasher — and a living and bed area. There was plenty of space, but it was an older hotel. The room had that former smoker floral smell. The bed was queen sized and the mattress was one of the worst mattress I have been on in a while — way to soft. The TV was a flat screen LG, but it was placed awkwardly between the living space and the bed, and you really need to move the piece of furniture to see the TV from the bed. The bathroom was definite old and tired, with one of the smallest and lowest toilets I’ve ever used. The whole place need a paint job. If I was staying here more than two days, and really only to sleep, I would have changed hotels.
