Edamame does not deserve more than 3 stars because simply –it’s not worth it. I had a meal for two during«happy hour» and it was roughly $ 43 before tip. We ordered the beef gyoza, two sushi rolls during their BOGO50% off happy hour– Caterpillar and Alaskan Salmon, and Chicken/Rice hibachi plate. No drinks, just water. First of all, isn’t this supposed to be super casual? Why does it cost as much as Akai Hana?(I can get 5 handrolls for $ 25, Salmon Teriyaki for $ 7, another roll and a drink for roughly the same price.) We walked in, ordered at the counter, paid and seated ourselves(fast food-esque). Food came out and there was nothing unique. Beef dumplings barely had anything in them and were not warm. Seemed like they were microwaved and left out. My sushi rolls were more avocado than anything. Caterpillar roll had walnuts in them — that’s the first time I’ve ever seen that. I was not ready for that crunch. Usually at any typical sushi restaurant, a caterpillar roll consists of eel and avocado. The sweet nuts really threw off the taste. The Alaskan Salmon Roll… was not fulfilling. The salmon pieces were so small and the insides were more avocado than anything else. The hibachi plate was typical stir fried vegetables, whole lot of rice, and a fist full of chicken pieces. Thank God we went during«happy hour» because I would honestly be upset if I had spent any more of my hard earned money on mediocre sushi when I could have spent it at a more formal place. Edamame charged $ 10-$ 13 on a roll that deserved to be $ 8 – 9. Besides the food, everything else seems to be on point. Parking was easy to find. Location was great. Service was decent. It was clean and the restaurant was nicely decorated. But the food… oh, the food could have been so much better. What a shame.

Another day off from Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and it is another opportunity for me to sneak out from the world of leftover food in my fridge. Recently, my craving for hot bowl of noodle soup increase dramatically. I figure that is cause by the winter weather here in Columbus. Wind chill always make the temperature drops unexpectedly. Takoyaki is my all time favorite Japanese street food and not every restaurant in Columbus have it available. If I see it on the menu, I will for sure order it. I really like the presentation of the Takoyaki being plated, along with the wavy movement of the bonito flakes. When you eat the takoyaki in one bite, u will feel the crunchiness from the outside and the softness filling from the inside. To top it off, little pieces of octopus in the middle release the sense of freshness. There are several places locally serving ramen and this restaurant is another one on the list. I would say one of the traits to distinguish this Tonkotsu ramen to others is the big portion size. In addition, one thing to be caution is their braised chashu is a little bit too fatty for me. During lunch hour, it serves in a food court setting. You will need to order food from the front counter. Then, the cashier will give you a letter tag to put on the table, and the server will bring out the food for you. I really like the set up of the restaurant and their second floor seating. So if you are a fan of Takoyaki like me, you should come and enjoy a few!

This is one of my favorite places to get sushi. The fire crunch roll is amazing. Also the spicy tuna and shrimp tempura roll is a great option. I’ve tried several other rolls and recommend this place highly.

Sushi was good. We ordered the Salmon Roll, Dragon roll, and kim chi fried rice. Sushi was pleasant, the fried rice had more meat in the picture than on the plate. Overall good experience.

I heard about this place shortly after I moved to Columbus. I think it’s because at the time it was relatively new so the«buzz» was still significant. As it stands now, the buzz is unwarranted. The décor of the place is VERY nice. It has a very nice, urban chic that’s very appealing. But unfortunately, that’s the high point. The décor is much more of a conversation point than the actual food, and that’s not good. I’ve had much better sushi in other places around town for the same price, if not cheaper. When you have an establishment that offers cuisine that has so much competition as sushi does, you’ve gotta nail it. Unfortunately, Edamame doesn’t.

Great sushi and service. Buckeye rolls and Fire crunch were outstanding — and the carpaccio tuna was also very good(but a bit pricey for the serving)! Highly recommend to fulfill that sushi craving. Ordered 3 plates between the four of us bc it was so good! We need one in Cleveland.:)

When I went to Columbus, me and my aunt ate here. I wish they had one of these in California!!! It was so delicious! I wish I could eat their Jap Chae right now! They were a bit slow, but the food was fresh and hot when it came out. They have a gluten free menu(which is what I ordered off of), which is super awesome, especially since it is Asian food, which is usually hard to find gluten free options with. Overall, I wish they had one by me, because I would eat there every week.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this place — I was on the hunt for some lunch in the area. This place popped up on Unilocal, and there I was at opening time. I’m guessing Koreans must run/own the place — it has a very Korean vibe in terms of the decorations and all the t-shirts the staff were wearing said«Let’s Eat!» on the back in Korean. That being said, it isn’t the first Japanese restaurant owned by Koreans I’ve ever been to. Or the second. Or the third. I went straight for the Tonkotsu ramen. Suprisingly good. Wow. Very surprised. The pork was a little on the sweet side(weird to me) but was melt in your mouth tender. Broth was very savory, and the noodles were perfectly cooked. A little on the expensive side, but that was OK. I left very satisfied. I’ll be back, maybe with hubby in tow. Our little is allergic to sesame, so this place has got to be totally off limits.

I work at Easton and I LOVE sushi. I only like cooked sushi so of course that always narrows down my choices. Which is fine if it’s a really great sushi place. But Edamame is NOT a great sushi place if you like cooked sushi. They are clearly using those small shrimp that you get at Red Lobster for their shrimp tempura. I’ve also had the spider roll with the soft shell crab. Every sushi roll I’ve had there has been very mediocre. If I want sushi I don’t even bother to go there anymore. I would love to try their yakisoba, but they only have the veggie kind and I like meat with mines.

Meh! That’s honestly the only word that comes to mind when I think of Edamame. The sushi is moderately priced with a decent portion but taste quite similar to what you might would get at Giant Eagle. The fried calamari I had didn’t seem like it were cooked completely. I think the only thing I really liked about this place was that it’s conveniently located in Easton and the décor was nice. I guess if you’re really in the mood for sushi, you’ve got about $ 10 on you, you’ve been shopping at the mall all day and you’re really craving sushi and not in the mood to travel far, go here… but you there are definitely better places to go in Columbus for sushi.

We really enjoyed our meal – a leisurely weekend lunch with our two small children – but I felt the value for money was definitely off. The sushi was quite overpriced although the quality was good. It was $ 100 for the four of us(let’s say the two of us because my kids had edamame and fried rice) and considering this isn’t exactly Akai Hana, I thought that was a little much. I did like the service and the décor, but if I wanted to drop that much on lunch, I’d get a steak at Hyde Park next time. Although, let me backtrack to say I did like the variety on the menu. I would consider coming here again, but I would probably try to be more cost-conscious.

I enjoyed a quick late lunch at Edamame the other day. The décor is interesting as shown in the photos. Lots of green and horizontal lines. We ordered four items. Crab salad, dumpling soup, takoyaki, and the Buckeye roll. The dumpling soup was nice and hot with two large dumplings and finely diced vegetables that were still quite crunchy. There were some red things I couldn’t identify. I thought they were chilies at first, but they weren’t spicy and they had kind of a nutty texture. Whatever, I ate them. The takoyaki was ok, not as good as Fresh Street if anybody remembers them. The octopus had a nice flavor. The buckeye roll is a deep fried American sushi monster. It was beautifully presented. Thin slices of sushi with two kinds of sauce on the bottom and a little mouse or something on top. It was perfectly edible and we enjoyed every bite. The standout was the crab salad. It’s just crab salad on top of some fresh iceberg and other veggies, nothing crazy, but the flavor is so great. Very refreshing and satisfying after a day of figuring out H&M’s sizing in men’s shorts(Hint: the numbers mean nothing) The menu is extensive. I’d like to come back and try a lot more dishes. I would always order the crab salad. A nice, casual Japanese place at Easton. Four stars.

Went here with some friends from work on a Friday night. We were original going to go to Melt, but it was packed and had an hour wait. This place had no wait for a large party, which should’ve been a warning sign for a restaurant in Easton on a Friday night. However, we were hungry so we came and ate. The service was rather slow, despite it not being very busy, but eventually we ordered and got our food. I got the edamame fried rice, which one would think would be amazing, since that is part of the restaurant’s name. Unfortunately, the rice had a strange taste to it and it was not an appetizing one. I typically get fried rice when it’s an option on a menu and I must say that the fried rice here was just above takeout Chinese fried rice levels. The actual atmosphere inside the restaurant was nice though.

They do a nice job. Service is very attentive. The manager was on duty and she was also very involved and attentive. The sushi is average. The beef soup is really good. I think they are the only sushi shoppe in that part of Easton. We would come back if your are asking.

We always go here when we are shopping at Easton and need a yummy sushi fix. They have a great selection of not only sushi but different Asian dishes, good customer service and cute open concept interior. My boyfriend is slightly obsessed with deep fried sushi so we always order the nutty almond roll(so good!)

Love the concept, like the execution. It is a very cool-looking place with a fun roll menu. Tuesdays are buy one roll, get one half price, though I didn’t know that until after I ordered and I saw a chunk of change get taken off one of my rolls. The same deal applies during happy hour(3 – 5) every weekday. It was unexpectedly nice to order at the counter, though the prices(aside from the specials) don’t reflect the reduced formality that counter service implies. I ordered a TNT roll(«spicy tako, cucumber, masago, japanese mint leaf, topped with spicy tuna and plum wine vinaigrette») and a Nutty Almond roll(«crab stick, shrimp, avocado, almonds, and coconut, lightly deep fried, topped with wasabi mayo and unagi sauce») without the coconut. I happen to love creative rolls. I have a true weakness for them. I went up to one of the upper-level table areas with my number. This is just a cool place to sit. I could totally bring my work and stay up there for hours, just going down to order sushi every so often, and consider it a perfect day at work, except that it wouldn’t be a very profitable one. The sushi rolls were both OK. I’ve had better, but it was still pretty good. Nonetheless, I don’t remember them as well as I remember the restaurant itself. There are so many more options on the menu that I’ll for sure be trying again.

I got the Buckeye roll(asked the lady what her favorite roll was and she said that one) and the Rainbow roll. The wife got the spicy Meso ramen bowl. The sushi was pretty good. I’ve had better but it was solid. I had some of my wife’s spicy bowl and it was pretty delicious. Perfect for a cold day. If I had to pick something to complain about it would be the tables were a little sticky and the soy sauce containers were sticky as well. Not a big deal, just a little annoying. And the poor guy who brought our soup had had some pretty bad B.O. Once we got passed that smell we were better. We’d come back again tho. The inside is pretty cool… It’s modern and they were jamming to some 90’s dance music. Overall id give it 3.5 stars.

Edamame is not bad for it is, and that’s a quick, inexpensive sushi joint. I usually order take out when I’m at work, and they usually have everything ready for me in 15 minutes. I’ve eaten inside once, and the service was fine, and the plates were pretty tasty. I usually order the sushi here, and the prices are pretty reasonable for the quality of food. I can’t say it’s the best I’ve had, but it’s tasty enough for me to keep coming back. This past week I had the steamed dumplings, and they were pretty lackluster, so I’d avoid those if you can. It could have been because they were a to-go order, but they looked and tasted pretty sad. If you’re not a sushi fan, that’s okay, because the menu has a lot of different dishes. It’s a great place to grab lunch, but I can’t really see myself coming here for a nice dinner. There’s plenty of sushi places around town for that. If you’re in the area though, give it a shot for lunch, because it won’t really put a dent in your wallet, and there’s plenty of options for everyone.

I stopped in specifically for a bowl of ramen for lunch on 9⁄12. They have 4 or 5 different kinds to choose from. Most are chicken or meatless. I opted for the chashu ramen which was the only pork version. It took a little longer than expected to come out. The broth was lighter than I hoped and carried hints of the familiar base used in the store bought ramen. It was good, but I was hoping for a heavier bone marrow rich broth. The noodles were appropriately firm, but obviously not house made. There were 2 – 3 decent sized pieces of chashu pork, a slightly overcooked soft boiled egg, sliced wood ear mushroom(I think), green onions, and bamboo shoots. It all came together as a decent bowl of ramen. It also came with a strange spoon that was more like a mini square point shovel. The biggest knock of the the whole meal is that it was a $ 12.95 for the bowl. I may be spoiled by large bowls of phở at good prices, but it seemed that the value of the ingredients and serving size was nowhere near the price. I would have given a two star rating based on poor value combined with an ordinary meal, but I do love Edamame’s sushi. While I didn’t have any on this visit, I would consistently give that a net 3 star rating. 4 for the quality and 2 for the cost because that is a bit overpriced as well.
