Used to be good(5 years ago when we first tried this place), since then the menu changed — not for the better — and every time we go in the prices have increased. For the price you pay it’s nothing special. I would no longer recommend this place. Better than many places in Colorado Springs, but I can think of at least five-ten other places I’d go to first. It’s a pity

Stopped in for dinner one night. Not my kind of place. Menu had mostly sea food on it. Doesn’t make sense to me. Maybe you know, Colorado is landlocked. In other reviews the steaks look good. But everything looked very overpriced and small servings. I guess that’s the epoch of fine dinning.

Delicious tapas and drinks at Blue Star for a hell of a price! The tempura shishito peppers for $ 4.00 were excellent and more than enough for two of us. Also had roasted garlic and olives for a whole $ 3.00. The hummus was free. Cocktails were amazing. Highly recommend!

I was hoping to enjoy this place, but was somewhat disappointed. The servers and hostess were really nice and accommodating. Good ambience and the menu had potential. The cauliflower bisque was good, the almonds added a touch of saltiness. The crab cake(no ‘s’) was tasty but a bit overpriced for one crab cake. I had ordered the duck pasta, it was decent, but nothing I’d ordered again. Beignets were not so good, a bit hard, kind of salty(which was odd), and not pillow like that I expect of a beignets. I think they have a good variety on the menu, it’s the execution that could use some work.

Blue Cross burger was too salty. Overpriced for the lower quality. Not a place to eat food. I wouldn’t expect it to be a place to dine and have delicious food but a pace to hang out to drink and have medicare quality food.

It’s honestly gone downhill over the last year. It took over 30 minutes to get our food. The Buffalo chicken pasta was something I could make at home. My husbands steak fatty. I’m truly dissatisfied. Thankfully they took our entrees off of our bill.

What has happened to the Blue Star? Gone is the lively atmosphere, packed bar, excellent food and great cocktails of old. And that makes us sad. The new bar menu is blah, to say the least. One member of our party enjoyed the duck breast(it was a special item) another enjoyed chicken fried steak. But, the chicken in the buffalo chicken pasta was fried, over cooked and cold and was about as tasty as chicken McNuggets. The pasta and the sauce had the consistency of newly poured concrete. Yet another in our party had the«short ribs», which were not short ribs at all but instead were pork spareribs nestled on soggy French fries. The sauce that came with the ribs was simply watered down vinegar and mustard. St. Germain was added to one of our cocktails-sorry, but that is a no-no for a Negroni. C’mon, surely the kitchen/bar can do better than that? Maybe that is why the restaurant was empty when we arrived and, although busier when we left, was still only half full and it was Saturday evening.

Came in for lunch. Took a good friend for his birthday. He had the Lamb burger and I had the calamari. Everything was wonderful. The waitress was awesome so friendly and even brought me a little sample of the cauliflower soup for me to try. She even hooked my friend up and surprised him after he finished his meal with a special birthday dessert. Wonderful flavors and great menu cant wait To go there for dinner.

First time in Colorado Springs and we tried this gem! We got so lucky finding this restaurant with great ambience and one of the best«mixologist» named January and she was the best I ever had! She asked me what I liked and she proceeded to make me a drink that I never thought I would like. It knocked my Socks off! I wanted five but settled for one. I will be back when back in town. Menu options were great and we ate at the bar which was fantastic on a Saturday night.

Celebrated Mother’s Day at the blue star. Terrific wait staff, made to feel very comfortable. Very knowledgable as well. Bonus as most bottles of wine were half off on Sunday’s. Great food, from the staters to the dessert they did not disappoint. We had the steak special and the chicken special. Cooked to perfection. Let me say too, that the cauliflower bisque was amazing. Definitely a place to go and dine while in the springs.

Worst dining experience I have had in years. Didn’t eat our entrees(pork chop and duck pasta). We obviously didn’t enjoy anything, but the server wouldn’t have known because he never checked back on us. There was no manager presence on the floor, therefore no one to express our disappointment to. It was the first time I felt cheated out of money for a meal. The décor needs serious updating. Not to mention, open kitchens are meant to showcase the beauty and dedication it takes to prepare nourishment for others. It’s pointless if all your guests are staring at is a three door freezer, exposed wires, and dirty equipment. It was truly a sad experience.

This place put the«hip» in hipster! Incredible music selection, ambience, and service. The lounge side is more casual, but you can eat off of both menus whether you choose the dining or lounge side. I ordered the Buffalo Wings Pasta, which was heavy/heavy on the butter and light on blue cheese. Was swimming in oil and though peppery hot(which I like) — wasn’t very flavorful. The hub ordered Steak/Frites with kale salad and devoured it! The steak was prepared perfectly. We had fried green beans for an appetizer which are cooked tempura-style: light and crispy and served with a tangy sauce. The bread that comes with your meal is served with a pinto hummus: amazing flavor! Wine selection is exceptional. The food is on the pricey side, but we had a terrific, fun experience. This restaurant is perfect for date nights or special occasions.

We had a great dinner at Blue Star on Tejon on a Friday night. We were seated immediately as a party of 4 and service was quick and friendly. The deep fried string beans were better then anywhere else we had them. Fresh beans with a light coating and not at all greasy. I had the salmon for my entrée — maybe foolish to order fish miles from the source but it was nice and flavorful and flaky. It was served with Brussel sprouts and grape tomatoes. Delicious! The burgers and chicken fried steak was loved by my family. The buns were artisanal and fries tasty even though not crispy. Go next door for a cocktail before or after dinner. They are incredible!

Colorado Lamb was really tasty, very tender. Boulder Natural Chicken was lovely, also. The spinach with it was salty but not terrible. And we also a 6 oz filet special that was — in all honesty — the highlight of the night. We would have licked the plate. If you like a drink that’s pretty different and non-alcoholic, try the ginger beer. Service was a little slow, considering the many empty tables. Really pricey, although that steak was worth every penny.

Location/Décor — the location seemed kind of sketchy but was okay. It looks commercial/industrial and not what I expected on the outside but the inside was a like walking into a whole different world. Old and new school charm, warm and inviting. Several parties had children so this place was good for couples and families. Food — My husband and I went for the New Year’s Eve Prix Fixe menu(5 courses). Most courses had a selection of 2 or 3 items and it was hard to choose one! It was $ 75 pp which is pricey, not including drinks — I had expected it to include one glass of champagne but that’s really my only complaint. The food was well cooked and well portioned. Each course was a nice combination of taste and style which can be hard to find. My husband ordered steak and it was expertly prepared. I was worried it would be too much food but the smaller courses were 1 – 2 bites and tasty so we were both full on departing but not overly so. Service — The host and waitress were friendly and efficient. Our waitress was attentive but no overly so and was able to answer all our questions and give us suggestions. Each course came on time(not to early or late) which I appreciate. Overall a good restaurant for something upscale but be willing to pay for it!

I haven’t been to The Blue Star in over 10 years and with the high rate of restaurant turnover I’m glad to see its still alive and well. We were able to be seated without a reservation and got a nice big booth. They were pushing this massive bottle of red wine that had a special story of some sort and it was pretty good. We started with the calamari and wedge salads which were good. I had the Colorado Lamb which was really tasty and among the best I’ve ever had. My friend got the salmon which looked great.

Full disclosure. I’ve been coming to the Blue Star for 15+ years, and sadly this is my first review. I am in tonight for a martini & dinner. Dakota knows how I like it. Up with a twist!(Martini — check) Dinner is a whole other matter. While some of my fav’s stay on the menu. There are always new and exciting things to try.(and not just food) Tonight, I was surprised that I found a dunkel on the bev menu. ONTAP! It is fantastic! For din-din. It was the Blue Star Burger. Simple I know, but delicious! I ordered it Med — and it was a perfect Med. Aged Cheddar & an attractive setup. I could eat this every day. The fries were crispy and hot. To Erica and the crew. Well done! I will be back!

The people here were great, fabulous food in a non uppity atmosphere. I sat in the casual side of things w/the bar area, not the dining room — I was able to order off of both menus. I was seated one place, but decided to move myself to another table since it opened up. A server came by to clear off the table and wipe it down on my behalf, noticing that I’d snuck over there on my own. The place is adorned with local art work and interesting fixtures/seating components. On it’s own without fulfilling every craving I had that night, I’d already be very happy… however it had everything I was looking for also. I’d ordered menage cheese, and a charcuterie meat I can’t recall, but it was certainly delicious along with the 3 sauces that came with it. I continually built myself several different combinations of meat/cheese/spread and each combination was delish! The servers who work here are knowledgeable about the menu, their food, and the ingredients, they were more than happy to explain and could provide accurate assessments of the meals. The tomatoes and grilled asparagus were just the sides but they were flavorful enough I’d be happy with that alone as a main… I had their salmon on top and savored each bite. It came to be dessert time, and as luck would have it, a person as indecisive as myself would not walk away disappointed, I tried the trio and enjoyed every bit. I’d love to come here again some day!

Awkward setup. Wanted the ambiance of a nice place, but wanted to try the tapas. Was informed we couldn’t order from the bar menu in the ‘white tablecloth’ area. Fine, just a few steps away. Had the lamb burger, Colorado burger, and tartare. All fresh, local ingredients. Decent beer list. Servers were relatively slow, but friendly. Would definitely return

Something awesome has happened at The Blue Star in the past couple years. If you haven’t visited recently, I think it’s worth another look. Chef Will has revamped the menu and it features truly memorable dishes which change seasonally. Microgreens are grown in-house, desserts are almost too beautiful to eat(almost), the vibe has become absolutely warm and inviting. My favorite appetizer is the spicy salmon roll which resembles a a cut sushi roll but is fully cooked and set in a tasty, spicy, sauce. You eat with a fork(or your fingers if you want to get sexy) and it’s easy to finish the whole roll before your dining partner can swipe a piece. Best to order this one when you’re at the comfy bar, sipping adult beverages solo, hunched over the plate and wrapping your arms around it while you cautiously plunk pieces into your mouth, searching the room for spies who might catch on to you and your secret stash. You have to make a few visits to The Blue Star so you can try all of the stellar main dishes, including gnocchi studded with apple(sometimes pear?) and a light, creamy sauce… scallops with awesome crunchy Brussels sprouts leaves… thick cut pork chop with tender risotto. If you sit in the lounge area versus the dining room, you’ll get your choice from both the Dining and Bar/Lounge menus. Unless I’m trying to impress in-laws, or celebrating something, I prefer the lounge and if I’m in the lounge, I usually sit at the bar because you get great attention but the bar counter is deep enough that you aren’t breathing on the bartenders’ dishes of lime wedges, olives and maraschino cherries.
