First time at this restaurant. It was good. I started off with an appetizer. I had the crab cake over rice, it was very delicious. One of my friends ordered a lobster tail as an appetizer as well. For dinner I had the shrimp and grits. The only negative thing I can say is that the shrimp was not cleaned well. Other people in my party had the all you can eat cat fish, fish and chips, and crab bread bowl. However, if you come to this restaurant plan to spend at least 2 hours here. Food is made to order, I can appreciate that.

We ate there on Monday, June 6th arriving around 7:30 pm. A disappointing experience. While the food was relatively good, the lack of training by the staff and lack of visible management on site, made for a poor dining experience. The kitchen was horribly slow and inefficient given that there were only around 7 tables there. The waitress was not trained for making drinks behind the bar and put a lime in my drink when I asked for a lemon twist. The food was reasonably good but it was almost humorous to observe the timing and service flaws. A little more training of the kitchen and wait staff would go a long way in making this a nice restaurant to recommend.

Best Po’Boys anywhere! We had the Fried lobster tail appetizer and the Grilled Shrimp & Oyster Combo Po’Boy and Fish & Chips. Wow! It’s even better than Pappadeux,(which I also love). Excellent service tonight. It can be slow, true Souther style, but well worth the wait. Very comfortable chairs. There’s no better place in Colorado Springs for Sea Food. And no better place anywhere for Po’Boys! It’s also Fun looking out on the street while enjoying our favorite Cajun restaurant!

Visiting from out of town and stumbled upon this place. I ordered the wings along with the calamari and they were both outstanding! Ordered the honey Cajun wings a bit hesitantly, but they were truly outstanding. The service was amazing. Our server Spencer was sweet and friendly and made awesome recommendations. DEFINITELY would come again. TRYTHEHONEYCAJUNWINGS!

Visiting family from out of town, we were looking for seafood. We arrived with 3 kids and 4 adults on a Saturday evening, with a 30 minute wait. We should have left. After finally getting seated and ordering, it took more than 60 minutes to get our food. It was explained without apology that the food was made from scratch. One of the items was clam chowder, so I questioned that being made from scratch. Wait staff reiterated that it was, which I found hard to belief. Our poor children were getting exhausted, with one if them falling asleep while waiting. When food finally arrived, it was overseasoned with the same mix of spices. I’ve been to other seafood and fine dining seafood establishments with much better food and service. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had eating out, taking more than 2 hours from start to finish. They deserve NO stars.

Eh, the service was good, the waiters were nice but I will say this place is suffering a crazy identity problem, so I stopped in here seeing the name«English Dockside» expecting –British.no Come to find out the owners last name is english, the décor is crazy, the atmosphere is quite formal. yet they are serving«po boys» sandwiches. I got the snow crab legs, and while they were good as other reviewers have noted they cake and I literally mean cake EVERYTHING in seasoning, they were the messiest crab legs I have ever had to eat, there was seasoning EVERYWHERE!!! Also the place was empty, we were the single sole table inside, my friend got the seafood platter. and it came with an eggroll??? Phh and he loves oysters and these he said put him off of them for awhile. All in all I will probably never eat here again, was quite confusing and I wasn’t all that impressed.

Well… The food was really good. No complaint there. It’s just very very slow and the restaurant was not busy. So slow in fact that we waited for our appetizers and drinks but by the time they got to the table we had already decided that we didn’t have time to wait another 20 for the main course so we went some place else. They really need to figure out the timing but the food was pretty amazing.

This establishment is not family friendly. My husband and I attempted to eat here on a Saturday night a few months ago with our small, well-behaved child. We waited over 30 minutes for a table. The staff ignored us. The host continued to seat other(childless) parties in front of us. No explanation was provided. We finally left and drove to our favorite steakhouse, where we were seated immediately by friendly, wecloming staff. Obviously I cannot comment on the food since we never tasted it.

I was so excited to have a seafood feast after someone recommended this place to me. After spending $ 100+ I feel like I wasted my money. The crab cakes are great for the price and full of crab, the crab claw appetizer was good except for the butter which I think is just awful and the fried lobster tail was good but microscopic compared to the picture in the menu. The service was awful and they were out of 3 things that I really wanted that were all part of the seafood dinner that I came specifically for. I ended up getting snow crab legs that came with pointless seasoning all over the shells and the horrible black death butter. Our server was terrible, she didn’t have a clue about anything, took forever and got our check wrong. The thing that bothered me the most was her attitude when I got up to help her recall what we had ordered. She got our check wrong again and I felt like we were trapped inside the place waiting for her. The owner was nice and visited us a couple times and the other server who was there ended up helping us a lot while our server was doing nothing. Overall terrible experience, the only reason I didn’t give it one start is the owner, other server and decent appetizers.

This is by far one of the best seafood restaurants I have ever been to in Colorado! This is our first visit and we received a complimentary appetizer(Shrimp Bowl) which was very delicious. Ben’s Seafood Platter had a variety of seafood items and were very tasty and the Seafood Chowder as well, their servings are big you’d need a to go bag. Definitely a good place try seafood. Servers were very polite and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxing and mellow.

We came in here for a quick bite to eat for lunch. The clam chowder and hush puppies were good! Our server was friendly and efficient. Will be coming back to try more food on the menu.

Woo real creole in the food desert of Colorado Springs?!? yes please! just like the food from down south. Such friendly wait staff and quick service added to the southern hospitality. True to creole: lots of garlic and a heavy hand on the paprika.

Gross. Let’s just say this isn’t close to Southern or Cajun. Go to Front Range down the street, the catfish plate is wonderful.

Well, good to know that the owner’s name is «English» since all the food is of southern origin. We were a bit confused there for a while… We stopped in because fish and chips were advertised(still thinking this was a British pub) and were very pleasantly surprised of the décor and wait service. This is a beautiful restaurant with a very charming appeal and the wait staff were top notch. But, beyond that, we were so disappointed in our food. The crab cakes were dry and under-seasoned, as well as the gravy and rice that they sat upon. We were offered a complimentary shrimp cocktail while we waited for our main courses that was good, but it should have come with a wet towelette — ’cause there ain’t no way to eat a peel & eat shrimp cocktail without the mess! However, our entrees left so much to be desired. Hubs ordered blackened tilapia and we were utterly confused when the waitress asked how he wanted it cooked and said«medium?» Fish is fish and there is only one way to cook it, which ends in it being tender, moist and flaky — usually about 2 minutes on each side for a filet. However, his was over-cooked and dry and had way too much garlic butter on it(he was very disappointed). The accompanying veggies and roasted potatoes were nothing to scream about either. This Louisiana girl decided to check out the fried shrimp. OK, I said«fried,» right? The waitress then asked me if I wanted it four different ways and one of them was fried, so I went with«fried.» Unfortunately, my dish was not good either. The shrimp had a thick meal-type batter that was very strongly seasoned with garlic and salt and came with a «house» tartar sauce that was anything but. Shrimp was cooked a little too long as well, but I could have gotten past that, just could not handle the batter and sauce. The green beans were not Southern at all — they were under-cooked, long, whole beans with no ham hock, boiled potatoes, oil or seasoning. Sweet potato fries tasted good, but too were over-cooked. Oh me, Oh my… this meal was a disaster and we won’t return. Wish we could, love the restaurant vibe, but just drives me crazy when people try to serve food that are obviously NOT from the SOUTH! The only thing I did enjoy, besides the shrimp cocktail, was the iced tea. I had it un-sweetened and it was a very dense, tasty blend.

Maybe I’m a glutton for punishment, or maybe I like to give second… even third chances. I have NEVER given a negative review before, but this deemed necessary to let people know just how much of a horrible dining experience I had. Today was my 3rd dining experience at English Dockside, and like the other 2 times before I just wasn’t impressed. I’m aware the owners last name is English, they«make everything from scratch, and it takes«a little longer» to get your food served. I arrived a little after 1, hoping the lunch rush was over and things could move along with ease. There was 1 table sat and during my ENTIRE stay no other table arrived to dine. While waiting for a friend to possibly join, I opted to order my meal immediately, knowing it takes longer than usual. I got the salad bar to curb my appetite while waiting for my entrée. My friend arrived shortly after, and she ordered the same entrée as me: Snow Crab. Great! My order will come out, then once we’ve dived into that, the next round of crab would arrive. Perfect. I opted to add the oysters to my meal(3 for $ 6). I asked how they were served. I was given the options grilled, fried, or blackened. I chose Grilled! After 25 minutes our Gentleman waiter let’s us know that one other order was ahead of us and that they were JUSTNOWSTARTINGOURORDER! So both entrees would be coming out at the same time. Seriously! You have got to be kidding me! 15 minutes later our food arrived! 40 minutes to get 2 entrees with only 1 other table sat in the restaurant. Unacceptable! I noticed my order of oysters were fried… I ordered grilled. He then informs me that he forgot the only options for oysters were fried and blackened, the shrimp can be grilled. The oysters were small in size and just not what I was expecting. The entrée consisted of one full cluster and a couple of stragglers… CAKED in their seasoning. They put this seasoning on EVERYTHING!!! My crab legs, potatoes, corn, and fried oysters all had seasoning caked on them. By the time I was done eating my hands were so dirty, not even the napkins provided could«clean» my hands. No wipes, no water. The potatoes were laying on a bed of grease. The Gentleman waiter never arrived back again. Not even to say he was turning the table over to another gal. Granted she was nice, I still feel as if the service just wasn’t up to par with the whole experience. I did however eat all of my meal, because I believe in not wasting food. Afterwards I felt like I had a SODIUMOVERLOAD! As soon as I got home I rushed straight to the toilet. For hours now I’ve burped up garlic from the seasoning. I’ve washed my hands numerous times and yet… I STILL smell their seasoning on my hands. So after 40 minutes of waiting for my entrée, the amount of seasoning salt they put on their food, and the lack of knowledge from their staff… I’ve had enough. 3 negative experiences in a row… I will no longer return to this local neighborhood restaurant. And If the owner does happen to respond to this review, I wish him luck in trying to justify his establishment. I’m not a critic, but at least I can warn people how awful your food is, and how incredibly bad it is for their health. Tone back on the seasoning salt and step up the pace!

Seafood in Colorado? I was skeptical, but was quickly impressed. Everything about the food says Original, Made-to-order, & fresh. Don’t come expecting to get super-generous portions, but do expect to really enjoy the food you order. I’ve personally had their crawfish as well as their lobster rolls. I’ll be returning for sure!

We went here for our 17th anniversary. First time, and it was so good I know we’ll be back. The blue crab cakes were fabulous. I had the whole red snapper blackened. The whole thing. He was looking up at me for my whole meal! The snapper was great but I think I would have preferred the filet. LOL! My husband tried the blue crab Poboy and I had a taste. It’s a little bit of heaven. The service is not rushed. Like in Europe, you sit and drink wine and eat good food. Take your time, enjoy. Its all part of la dolce vita!
