I finally was able to get here for lunch and was disappointed. The chips were SOSTALE. even after she brought a different basket they were stale so we didn’t even want to eat them. Green sauce was super hot but good… I liked the hot sauce and others didn’t but that’s how it goes. Food was just as I ordered which was great, loved the beans. Chicken in the quesadilla was okay… didn’t love it. The food wasn’t really that hot and there were flies all over. Yuck. Anyways– saw they got a bad score for the health department too and wish I would have seen that first. Won’t be returning.

Cheap, quick, and reliably consistent. They have great breakfast items and I have noticed that they do a lot of to-go business. The lunch and dinner items are good, not the best quality, but good enough to cure a Mexican food craving. The green sauce is so good. Sometimes On the weekends I order it to go and put it on whatever I make at home. My only complaint is the queso. It is a little plain for my taste. Just a cup of melted cheese, but I guess some people probably like it that way. Overall, the food tastes pretty good and you get a lot for your money.

One of the best Mexican Food I’ve had in college station. A hole in wall restaurant that serves one of the best breakfast meal! Price is very reasonable for what you get. Worth waking up early to have a great breakfast. The meats are tender and very juicy with a lot of flavor. The service are great and the food orders have a quick turnaround. It has a back parking in case the front gets full.

Great breakfast tacos. Lunch and dinner of average quality. Friendly staff and very reasonable prices.

Everything tasted and looked like it was from a package, down to the seasonings. The tortilla chips were store bought, as were the chalupa shells, taco shells, and flour and corn tortillas. The queso tasted like cheese whiz. The red and green salsa had a somewhat handmade taste, but ultimately lacked much flavor. This could be a great place, if they took some pride in hand making the shells and chips(really ANYTHING, to be honest). I looked very hard at each of the plates on our table to try to find something that I couldn’t get off of a supermarket shelf and make at home myself for 1⁄3 of the price(and with more flavor), but failed. I really wanted to like this place.

I was told that this place is awesome but after eating here I was quite disappointed. I went in and sat down and was followed by another couple. These people were older adults, and were served before me and my boyfriend, who are younger adults. It was a little rude. Once we were served out waitress forgot to bring us tortillas with our fajita meat, and forgot to give us plates. The horchata here was amazing, despite the other shortcomings.

Best breakfast tacos I’ve ever had, bar none. Anytime I’m in town I make it a point to stop in here for breakfast. Sometimes it’s the highlight of the trip back to CS. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover and the same can be said for this place. Hole in the wall that has great breakfast tacos on the cheap. PS…their green sauce is the way to go on the tacos.

Authentic Mexican food. Unfortunately a little too authentic for this Tex-Mex fan. The food was fresh and the portions were huge however I need more spice in my life. The menu is large but confusing because you can only order certain dishes on special days. I always get whatever the special is that day. Today I had the chicken fajita plate. It was fine but bland. Also I needed more corn tortillas because they were too delicate for the big cuts of chicken. I had to double-up on tortillas. There is nothing wrong with the restaurant itself, but I will stick with the larger chains like Los Cucos or Ninfas. Now, if they offered decent margaritas, that would be a game changer since it is seconds from my apartment! Oh! But they do offer breakfast! I’ll be back to try that.

Absolutely wonderful. I eat here quite often. The enchiladas are rolled if you’re wondering.

Great breakfast! Great flour tortillas. We LOVE the Thursday special, tacos a carbon, or chili rellano. You can get the chili rellanos on Thu only. They are so worth the wait. Great mx rice too. Good and cheap!

I’ve eaten at this place many times, all of which have been pretty good experiences. I wasn’t a huge fan of the the chicken or fajitas at dinner time, but the breakfast food is what makes this place great. The barbacoa is hands down some of the best I’ve had. The chorizo, bacon, and potato tacos are also great. The tacos come with cilantro lime and onions which I enjoy. The green salsa here is also extremely delicious. Easily some of my favorite salsa anywhere. The food is priced very reasonably as well.

Hole in the wall. Large queso is LARGE. And delicious. Quesadilla appetizer is also a very big portion. Cut into 8 pieces and I can never finish 3. Enough to share as a meal! Good pricing. Service might not speak English too well and some are very young, but they always seem to get the order right! A must try if you’re in the area.

My friend and I went here right around closing and were able to sit immediately. We were served a green and red salsa. The green was good had a nice flavor. The red was also good a bit more tomato-y which I really liked. I had the barbacoa plate it was pretty good. Tastes like a lot of the barbacoa in the area but a good flavor and generous portion. My friend had the combo fajita plate which he said was just average. Service was kind of spotty. Margaritas were average and not very expensive. Overall pretty average. Would go back for the barbacoa.

NOTORIETY: Local«Hole-in-the-Wall» Mexican Food Chain FOOD: Carne asada plate($ 10.58 after tax): This plate comes w/a lot of food. I’ve NEVER been able to finish everything by myself. It comes w/a large, thin carne asada steak, which has been getting chewier each time I come here. The steak sits atop a bed of grilled onions. On the side, it comes w/pretty good refried beans & soft Spanish rice. Add to that, 2 thick(flour, or corn) tortillas, shredded cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, & guac(not as flavorful as I’d like). I’m not done, it also comes w/a bag of crispy thin tortilla chips, red sauce(watery & not that good), & green(spicy) sauce. Breakfast tacos($ 1.39 before tax): You get 2 choices of fillings for these good sized tacos. I tried the crumbled sausage which was a bit on the dry side. The cubed potatoes were al dente but didn’t have any additional flavor to it. The chorizo was tender but didn’t have much flavor either. Chimichange: Def. diggin the fried burrito w/cheese sauce on top. It stayed crispy for quite a while, which was good since it was taken to go. My new fav at this joint. OVERALL: Quality used to be better. It could be that my take out order may have affected this. Nevertheless, Coco Loco comes w/lots of food for a reasonable price. RECOMMENDATION: Hard to say, used to be carne asada plate. TIPS: 1. Open Daily 7am-9pm. Last Update: 4−5−13

I’ve gone to this Coco Loco on Welsh several times. The first time I went was around a year ago. The food was mediocre, but decent for the price. The green sauce was great. I don’t know what happened to this place in the last few months, but the green sauce is now EXTREMELY hot. Freaking flaming habanero hot… I can’t even eat a single chip now without having to guzzle a glass of water. I see everyone at the restaurant feels the same way as the green sauce just sits there… I have said something to the waitress several times and she just shrugs it off… How hard is it to not pour a bushel of jalapenos in there??? Do NOT order fajita beef on anything… each time I have gotten it, it has been extremely fatty – the worst/cheapest cut possible. I guess I know why the tacos are so cheap… This last time was the last straw. They gave my girlfriend half RAW beef tacos. When I tried to send them back, they said it was«just turning out that way today». Complete BS… We also ordered a desert drink, which was never brought out. I will never go back to this dump… I’m surprised it still has a decent rating, but then again, those ratings seem to be from before it went down hill.

What a surprise! There is actually a decent Mexican place in BCS! The service was prompt and the the hostess was very helpful. The food was good and the service was pretty prompt. The only thing I would give some helpful criticism on was that their bathroom was not very clean and was out of toilet paper and after asking a few times they just handed it to me.

I was in the area for Fire fighter school and wanted some mom and pop Mexican food. This place is it. I went with a large group and everyone was satisfied with food. Staff handled our table full of jackasses. I judge about half my experience at Mexican restaurants on the chips and salsa. They succeeded in gaining my approval. The green sauce is outstanding. The main course was solid all around. The beans and the rice were great. Next time I’m back in College Station, I will be coming back.

Wasn’t too terribly impressed by the tacos as they were on the up side much closer to real Mexican street food yet too salty as if trying to «fast food chain» em and you don’t have to do that to real Mexican street food.

I would venture to say that Coco Loco is the best Mexican joint in town, and I have been to pretty much every Mexican restaurant in B/CS. The service is always wonderful. The servers are prompt, friendly, and accommodating. The food always comes out super fast, and I’ve never had a dish there that I did not like. Although I highly recommend my personal favorite, the chicken burrito… it comes smothered in melted cheese! The fajitas are also amazing. Honestly, you can’t go wrong here, I don’t think there is one dish you could order that wouldn’t be delicious. The chips are always fresh, and their green sauce is nice and spicy, just like it’s supposed to be, and although the salsa is pretty average, it’s not bad. The food is as close as you’ll get to authentic Mexican in a town that serves so many Tex-mex joints, I can’t even count them on both hands!

I love that the two-star rating in Unilocal’s terms is «Meh. I’ve experienced better,» because that is right on the mark for how I feel about the Coco Loco on Welsh. I was really looking forward to trying this place out because I’ve heard from many people that it’s the best Mexican in town. After my experience there, I am rather deflated and disappointed. Is this really the best in town? Am I going to have to drive 100 miles for decent Mexican food in TEXAS? Ugh. Anyway, the service was good, our server was pleasant and our food came out quickly. I ordered flautas which are really a no-fail choice. They weren’t awful, they were edible, but they were not anything special and I wouldn’t even go so far as to say they were«good». The most disappointing part of the meal was the salsa. It was inedible. It tasted like canned tomato sauce. There was also a bowl of what looked like a greenish queso. I don’t know what it was. Even after I tasted it I was unsure but one of my co-diners said she thought it was some sort of blended chile dip. I may give the other Coco Loco location a try, but I have no plans to return to this one.
