We were looking for some great seafood and we found it at Full Moon Oyster Bar. Service was fantastic, food was tasty, and the ambiance was different and we actually liked eating at the bar rather than a table. We will be back soon!

I LOVEOYSTERS… if you do, here’s the place to visit … CHARGRILLEDOYSTERS… butter and cheese grilled on top of Oysters… Just mouth watering. I had a dozen. The flavors just perfect!!! Tried the BLUECHEESEOYSTERS… different, good… had to try being a cheese lover. Also the special of the night CRABBYTUESDAYS. .ALLYOUCANEATSNOWCRABLEGS. all for $ 29…good deal. They keep them coming steamed and hot!!! All the seafood here smelled and looked great… fresh for any seafood lover… I have to be honest here. Wasn’t what expected… no tables, you sit around a bar. Not much room… but makes for great conversations… fun atmosphere. Must be that southern hospitality I’ve heard so much about, if I stay here too long I just might pick up on the accent. or these southern gentleman. Great staff, friendly . It was hoppin… packed . MONDAY night is OYSTERNIGHT… pitchers of another favorite Yuengling.$ 7…all day long.

This place has gone down hill since it first opened. My favorite used to be the shrimp and grits but after ordering it on 3 different occasions within the past year and a half, I have given up on the dish. The sauce used to be a creamy white sauce with a kick, to basically translucent all butter, heavy nastiness. So after a couple of months I was dragged back by my kids because they like the crab legs. I ordered a pasta with shrimp and scallops and the pasta was sitting in a puddle of butter, seriously like half the bowl was filled with the butter used to dip crab legs with some salt and pepper… disgusting. I picked out the seafood and the pasta on top. Even the bread it came with was stale. I didn’t want to ruin our meal further by complaining, but man did it hurt to pay $ 18 for that bowl of gross. I’m giving it 2 stars because the crab legs are good(its hard to mess those up) and the servers are friendly. Its got so much potential, please publicicize when you get new cooks and we’ll come back! I’m tired of being disappointed!

This is a great little Bar style seafood restaurant. No tables, you all sit around d the bar, down side, not much room and it is almost always packed. They start you off right away with a sample plate of their delicious red potato warm salad and a coleslaw. I could eat those potatoes all day! Oysters are always available, the shooter challenge is for the Daring… very SPICY! I stopped at one… and I am Hispanic and used to SPICY!!! Clam chowder is very thick and they the clams taste like they were just taken out of the sea and thrown in the soup. Try them garlic scallops… woop woop… big and tasty! Seafood quesadilla or alligator dish is also great as is their spicy shrimp and grits! So far I cannot complain about any dish I have tried. I suggest letting the kids eat next door at Marios Pizza while you indulge your taste buds!

Great atmosphere, wonderful food. It was well worth the drive from Charlotte. I would have given it a 5 star rating except the waitress, shucker messed up my wife’s drink order. I had ordered the house specialty as we waited to be seated and it was a very good coconut rum drink with a fru-fru juice mixer. My wife liked it and ordered the same once we got seated. What she ended up getting was the same mixer but with peach schnapps instead of coconut rum. My fault for not sending it back, but quite honestly… it was pretty good.

Hands down the best seafood I’ve ever eaten. The atmosphere is so welcoming. The servers know me and always come up to greet me even if I am not in their section. A must have for me and my family every time we go is the alligator crawfish cheesecake(not real cheesecake) but a spicy mix of some deliciousness filled with some warm gooey custard pie like substance. The sauce is the best(I’d probably lick it off the plate if no one was looking) and I always snatch the alligator meat off the top. Crab bisque is the other must have. My mom will almost always get a cup to go just for lunch the next day. It’s unlike any soup I’ve ever had. The shrimp and grits will make you want to kiss the chef. The crab legs will hold you hostage. And the chargrilled oysters are the best I’ve ever had and I had them in every restaurant I visited in New Orleans.(Actually upon coming back to Winston went to full moon because I needed their chargrilled oysters because no where in NOLA compared.)

I love this place for seafood near Winston. I always go at off-times though, because it can get pretty crowded! There aren’t tables — it’s just bar seating so on busy nights(like Tuesday night for all-you-can-eat crab legs) it fills up quickly. The crawfish alligator cheesecake is completely unique and really tasty — a delicious blend of creamy, spicy, and crawfish! Definitely don’t share this one — you’ll want to finish every bite yourself. Their raw oysters are great, but a warning — a half peck is almost 20 oysters! CC& I made the mistake of ordering a half peck for the two of us — way too many raw oysters for two people! I’ve also had the Blue Cheese Oysters — a much more reasonable serving coming with 5 oysters. Tasty, but I prefer them raw. Every meal is served with slaw and potatoes. The slaw is fresh and not too mayonnaise-flavored. The Low Country Shrimp Boil is exactly what you expect — Shrimp and sausage with corn and potatoes in a nice beer broth. Yum! Garlic Shrimp is another great one that doesn’t need any explaining. Comes with Texas Toast. The Jamaican-me-Crazy is so good! Tender beef and shrimp in a spicy sauce over rice. Tastes more Creole than Jamaican, but so great! Finally, you definitely have to try one of their desserts. Key Lime Pie is one of my favorites, but they also have cakes that are baked fresh every day — the Samoa is a good one if you like that Girl Scout cookie — it’s moist chocolate cake with caramel frosting and coconut flakes and chocolate drizzle on top.

Love the crab legs and a great price for them as well. The people there are very friendly as well. All the seating there is on bar stools so that could be a turn off for some people.

Great food! Best seafood I’ve ate and I live on a beach. So I can say that for a fact. The shrimp was out of this world. Crab legs were pretty decent actually. Obviously the potatoes are great as well. The only reason I give them a three because of the customers. The customers that go here are absolutes trash. The staff is great! Our bartender was a pretty cool guy! But the customers were rude to these guys and honestly it’s like a zoo with all these animals. So if you have class, just a quick bite or get a to-go order. Stay away from the filth.

Love everything about this place! Cold drinks. Fresh seafood. Fun atmosphere. Be sure to check out the oyster challenge. What’s better than sitting down with a group of buds and cracking some crab legs and eating oysters? We started with the oyster challenge and lobster ravioli. They have a great variety of combination dinners and they allow you to sub out the items you might not like as much — for me this was great since I am not the biggest clam strip girl. Combination dinners served with slaw and potatoes and all the regular oyster fixings, Full Moon is a winner and I can’t wait to go back!

I have«shot the full moon» many times and must say, if you want fresh, quality oysters on the half shell this is the place to start trying them. I’m amazed at the speed and precision of shucking these beauties so quickly to keep your plate full! I love getting the chefs special because it varies and is a surprise each time. When I «shoot the full moon» I get a dozen oysters and add some hot sauce, horseradish and a cracker and away I go! I also love to enjoy a few oysters shots where they place the oysters in shot glasses, draft beer and horseradish all in one and you take it like you would a shot at the bar! They’re fun and different than the traditional half shell technique. They offer a laid back and fun atmosphere but go early because they get busy quickly.

Loved this restaurant! Ordered the garlic shrimp, it was delicious. And the side of slaw and potatoes were yummy too. Husband ordered teriyaki chicken over rice, friends all ordered oysters. All of it was yummy. Cold beers, great service, we’ll be sure to return. The layout is one giant bar, no tables. It’s a very casual place to go for dinner.

Back in my hometown, we probably eat fresh caught oysters once or twice a week in the wintertime. Oyster season is a big source of revenue there and it’s a tradition to invite over all your neighbors, set out little trays of vinegar and Texas Pete and chow down on a bushel. I haven’t found a place this far from the coast that serves oysters by the peck or bushel. So, I was delighted when I found they had a peck of oysters on the menu. The oysters here are from Louisiana, so while they’re not Carteret County oysters, they’re fresh enough to lull my craving. The place is easy to pass by as it’s in a shopping center, and I had seen it a few times and thought, «oh, this looks neat,» then forgot about it because I am rarely on that side of town unless I’m travelling. The first thing I noticed was the unconventional seating. There are no tables. It’s just one massive bar. I actually loved that! It’s nice because you don’t have to wait for your server to come by your table, they are basically always there. It’s also nice to be able to talk to other people at the bar. I wouldn’t come here on a date for that reason, but it’s pretty nice to be able to converse with people on a fun night out. They serve two complimentary side dishes: potatoes and slaw. I liked the potatoes, although they could have used some salt. The slaw was good as well. I did find it odd that the slaw had poppy seeds in it, but it tasted good! They have an extensive draft list, but this time, Tori and I were both boring and went with Stella Artois. Our waitress was extremely personable and told us about all their nightly specials. I appreciated how attentive she was and how she came and conversed with us for a little while. That is always a big plus to me. Even though this place isn’t downtown and might be a little out of the way, it’s well worth the drive. I consider it to be a diamond in the rough.

Surprised to have such a great seafood option this far from the coast. I must confess, although we have been here several times, we have only been on Tuesday for the crab leg specials. They have all you can eat for $ 30 or a pound and a half for $ 20, which I prefer, while the husband gets all you can eat. Quality and flavor of the crab is top notch every time and it always seems perfectly steamed. Sides are standard and no fuss, but seem to be pretty consistent. Service varies between fair and good, but let’s face it, all we really care about is the crab(and lots of it).

The seafood is about what you’d expect this far from the ocean — edible but not the best. Chargrilled oyster appetizer was the highlight, absolutely delicious(though pricey). Split a steamer bucket with one other person and left hungry, even though menu says ‘enough for two’. The shellfish(oysters, mussels, clams) were downright disappointing. Much better available in downtown W-S. And Full Moon has only one NC craft beer available on tap! The food only gets two stars, but the staff is worth a star all on their own, very friendly and welcoming. Dabney the hostess was great, even on a super-busy night.

Try grilled oysters. They are out if this world yummy. We always eat the full moon meal for 2. Shrimp, oysters, clams, scallops, mussels and crab legs. Never disappointed. Go early as it is hard to get a seat. But if you’re late, grab a drink and wait for a seat. It’s worth it! We have never been disappointed. Love it there!!!

Warmly greeted by the hostess and she got us a beer while we waited for two seats at the bar. Our wait was shorter than anticipated and we were perusing the menu after 5 min. of our arrival on a very busy Friday night. The waiter was efficient, except for forgetting a fork after our food was served. The lobster ravioli was more like plain & simple ravioli. Very disappointed, especially after the server raved about it’s deliciousness. Very little lobster to savor in any of the three raviolis(appetizer portion). The crab dip was tasty, but the bread accompanying it could barely hold the dip — just fell apart on ya, making a mess. I’d give them a second chance if in the area again, the scallops served next to us looked amazing.
