The restaurant CLOSED for good on 12÷31÷14. I loved their oyster bar and the Monday night specials.

It is a busy Saturday night, parking lot is nearly full and we were seated immediately. Our waiter was at our table to take our order In two minutes and was the picture of youth and Southern good manners. His name is Ian and could not have been better. The oysters are meticulously fresh, cold and delicious. She crab soup is rich, well speckled with chunks of crab, a bit spicy and delicious. Side salad came on a chilled plate and was good. Sesame crusted Ahi tuna is excellent as is the broiled Jimmy’s seafood platter. Cannot find anything to complain about. Even the prices are very reasonable. Make sure to ask for Ian.

Our service was pretty bad. My daughter’s salad never came. We all got them as part of our dinners. 4 of us were seated, 3 of us got salads. My dinner was ordered with a side of coleslaw. It never came. I asked our waiter for it 3 times. The food was about 5 out of 10. My daughter’s seafood jambalaya came with chicken. not disclosed on menu – she doesn’t eat chicken. Food was hot and came fast but was nothing to write home about.

One of the last broad range seafood places left in the area. They have the old style fries fish house dishes along with the more upscale items. They also have a bar. The food on each level is excellent.

Awesome experience! The spinach crab dip was out of this world and Cajan oyster salad was nicely spiced, not too hot, very flavorful ! The best part of our experience was Tania the bartender! Friendly, knowledgeable and unbelievably efficient! While it was very busy the night we were there, she carried the night with her infectious personality! Great job!

OK, so Im so disappointed right now with Jimmy’s, I went back tonight and discovered that the fresh fish had been removed from the menu!!! The grouper, maui maui, sea bass, yellow fin tuna… ALLGONE! Wow. That was the main reason I went there. I was able to talk the bartender into checking to see if they had anything left and they had one tuna steak left! The four stars are now for the service that I receive there. I will say that Ryan and Tania at the bar are WONDERFUL and an over all assets to the business(although I fear that Tania will be gone soon as she is graduating from Wake Forest this week).

Only giving this a 4 stars on the basis that we had to wait almost 45 minutes for a table and there seemed to be tables available in the back that were empty. Also, be sure you come with an appetite. The serving sizes are huge! By the time we got to our entrees we were stuffed. We started with the crab and spinach dip which was superb. Next, they brought us imitation red lobster biscuits with hush puppies and a salad. Finally, I got the jambalaya and my husband got the shrimp and cheese grits. The waiter said these are their two most popular dishes. We only finished about half of our entrees. I felt guilty but of I would have had more food I would have had to be rolled out of their. Food was great, however, we will split an entrée next time or skip the appetizer. Fun place with great waiters. Prices were in 10 to 20 range for most entrees which is decent considering portion size and popularity. I enjoyed myself and would recommend this place. Be sure you are willing to wait because this place is well-known.

We were in town for Market and saw this place near our hotel. Glad we stopped in! The mussels and crabcakes were awesome! Our waitress was oh so attentive and friendly. Thus far a very good place for seafood and of course drinks ;)

Never been here before and of course my husband was craving crab legs. Not finding a place I greensboro we ventured to Winston. The hostess was a little strange in helping us choose a place to sit. My hubby said the crab legs were a 3 out of 5. Although the sesame encrusted tuna with a sweet potato was awesome! Popcorn shrimp was good. Best of all was the spinach and crab dip our server suggested. Not planning to come back but it was pretty good if you are craving some seafood.

Good food, good people. I had broiled flounder and fried oysters. Both were cooked well and tasty. Great hushpuppies. All portions were generous. Bartenders were friendly. Good place!

I typically love it here but today I have been seated for over 25 mins. My son has his drink. I don’t. No one has taken our order. 5 mins later someone took my order Received salad and had no silverware for another 5 mins. Oysters were great Now its time to go!!! May be a while before I am back… need to get over my frustration from the last 2 visits! Service needs a major overhaul.

I am from Atlanta and used Unilocal to find a place to eat tonight. I chose Jimmy’s seafood and was not disappointed. Kirk and a newbie where my wait staff. The did a great job and made good recommendations. I had a hot cup of chowder and flounder. It was served in a timely manor and tasted great. I would highly recommend Jimmy’s.

Truly horrible dining experience. Service was horrendous — made several requests that went completely ignored, such as «we’d like to order if at all possible.» Manager was walking around to see«if everything was okay» — we said, «well, we’d like to be able to eat or drink at some point» and she smiled and nodded and said great and continued on her way.(Note: it was early and almost empty) Sadly it was our daughters’ birthday, and the lack of service, lack of food, inability to have their dessert, etc. was a bit of a downer. Normally only take the time to post positive reviews to spread the word– in this case the experience was such a profound waste of time and money it warranted sharing. Food was as mediocre as you would expect. Spend your money elsewhere.

Well I didn’t get sick so there is probably no MSG in use there. That’s a HUGE plus with me! The seafood was good I had flounder and my partner had white fish. I liked his a bit better than mine. But what really knocked my socks off was the spanakopita! I thought Athena’s was good but Jimmy’s really put them to shame. They call it cigar’s. The only problem is they served it just a bit to hot to eat I had to let it cool off. I think it may be the best spanakopita in the county and considering all the greek places we have here that’s saying something. Also I’m no big fan of Pink Lemonade but that was the best I’ve ever had. And the garlic mashed potatoes where really good as well. There is a place in Kitty Hawk that people stand in a ¼ mile long line to get into but short of that I don’t know of any place better for seafood.

We tried this place despite some unfavorable reviews about service. We arrived about 7pm on a weekend so thought we might have to wait. We didn’t! It is large in side and we were greated and seated promptly. Our server was attentive and very prompt. The flavored mojitos were delicious and flavors I had never seen before(mine was fresh blueberry and mint). Very refreshing and a great start. Our food platter was ordered and arrived only about 10 minutes later. We were pleased with how hot it was, properly cooked, and the portion size was very good, too. I opted for broiled rather than deep-fried so the only thing I didn’t care too much for were the broiled oysters. I should have had those deep fried or raw. Overall, we were delighted and we will certainly go back. Some of the better service in Winston we’ve had so far.

Food was, at best, just average. Rubbery hush puppies, tasteless popcorn shrimp and my jambalaya was insipid(and very unappetizing in appearance). There are better places in Winston.

I have been to Jimmy’s Oyster Bar, I believe 3 times now and have sat at the bar each time. The inside is somewhat rustic with mostly tables. There has always been ample seating at the bar when I have been there, not matter how crowded the rest of the place is. The food is good, maybe not great or spectacular. Considering they are in the middle of NC and not on the coast, I would say my dining experiences have been pretty solid. My most recent visit, I ordered the grilled shrimp and tilapia. The shrimp were good, and not overly grilled. The tilapia, I liked a bit less. The fish itself lacked flavor and was topped excessively with pineapple salsa. The salsa was good, but too spicy for my taste. My meal was served with a sweet potato, a house salad, and bread. The bread and salad in particular were very good. I was kind of on the 3 – 4 line thinking about my review. Like I said, probably not the best seafood you have ever had, but satisfying. I have had very good service when I have sat at the bar also(Polite and efficient.). Overall, I am a Jimmy’s fan and plan to return in the future.

My husband and I give Jimmy’s a go about every six months or so. We LOVE seafood, prefer supporting local restaurants to chains and are ever hopeful that things will get better. Last night hubby wanted fish, and after discussing the options, we decided to give Jimmy’s another try. We started with the Oysters Kilpatrick, which came out to three a piece. The oysters were small and overwhelmed by the bacon, parmesan and worcestershire. Dinner salads were fine, hubby liked the House Dressing, a combination of Balsamic Vinegar and Thousand Island. My Raspberry Vinagrette was fine. Hubby ordered the Grouper, blackened. The wait person(who was working her first solo night after training and was very attentive and pleasant) did not ask him which of the five complimenting sauces he wanted, and he forgot to request one, but he was okay with just the blackened seasoning. His side was corn on the cob, which he liked. He found the grouper to be a little extra fatty, and slightly overcooked, but okay. I ordered the Stuffed Flounder, which is stuffed with Crabmeat and finished with a garlic dill butter sauce. It was a large piece of fish, a little watery and mealy, from being frozen I guess, and I didn’t really taste much garlic in the sauce at all. It was actually quite bland, but flounder is a mild fish. My side was«seasonal» vegetables: zucchini and yellow squash, broccoli and carrots. The broccoli was overcooked, and the yellow squash was BROWN. I eat a lot of yellow squash, I have NEVER known it to be brown, so it went to the side. All the vegetables tasted like they should, but again, they seemed to be frozen, which is strange, when all these veggies are very much in season. One glass of wine and one beer, our tab was $ 70+ for so-so seafood. For that we could have gone to Bonefish, who always get it right. We are officially DONE with Jimmy’s and really cannot understand the full parking lot every night of the week…

I live for seafood, and I clearly do not live close enough to the«sea» to expect seafood of the quality I would hope. That being said, Jimmy’s isn’t bad. I applaud Winston-Salem for having a seafood option outside of Red Lobster. To be honest, I have only been to Jimmy’s on three or four occasions. After going on vacation and having«real» seafood, I have a tough time eating the«inferior» stuff. That being said, I missed out on a real beach vacation this year, so I have been frequenting Jimmy’s on a regular basis. It’s…yet again, not so bad. This has been mentioned in prior reviews, and I hate to be repetitive, but their service leaves much to be desired. On my most recent visits, I have had one server who sat down with us to take our order. I *hate* it when servers do this. As previously working as a server, I know that some people think that this is endearing. I don’t. I find it intrusive and lazy. In another experience, they have messed up my drink order on multiple occasions in one sitting. We aren’t talking some fancy cocktail. I just ordered a soda, and the restaurant was far from busy. The food, however, is decent. I really like it. I have yet to have a bad experience, however, I do lower my standards to be somewhat in line with what I would expect of a Red Lobster or Joe’s Crab Shack. They do surpass these expectations. The snow crab legs aren’t quite as puny as one would expect, which is good since I hardly have the calloused hands required to be messing around with king crabs. They provide hush puppies prior to your meal. They are terrific. This also comes with what I can best describe as mini-Red Lobster cheesy biscuits. Well… an attempt at it. They can’t quite pull it off. Stick to the hush puppies. All and all, if you are in serious need for seafood, check out Jimmy’s if you can’t wait till your next trip to the coast.

This place had the potential for 4, 4.5 stars… the food was wonderful… however we received not poor but«amateur» service at the bar. THEGOOD: lively beach décor-LOVED the«live bait» sign! Think a classed up version of Joe’s Crab Shack-beautiful bar area– lit with twinkle lights-great ambiance with the music(Sirius Spectrum I believe). Nice drink menu and beer/wine list– Daily drink specials and house margaritas 3.50 everyday– they were good too! Daily food specials– Tuesday was 9.99 crab legs– I ate TWOPOUNDS!!! They were delicious– butter kept warm over a little tea light– need to get me one of those! I recommend the house dressing for your salad– mix of Italian and Greek flavors. The lady next to us had crab cake sandwich and just raved about it. THENOTGREAT– ate at bar– service was lukewarm– menus were left with us the ENTIRE course of meal, plates not cleared, did not receive bread like other tables. She was really nice, maybe she was new? SO Loved the food, ambiance and drink specials, service wasn’t BAD just needed a tweak :) Would not keep me from going back though– I enjoyed it, especially 9.99 crab legs– WHOOT!
