Was a little off put by the look of the place, from the outside it looked a little run down. Inside looks like a nice place. The food was great, everyone in my group was very happy. The server was excellent and very professional. I can’t wait to go back again.

My first time here, I had a dinner special, the sweet and spicy scallops over rice and spinach; it was perfection. My mojito however, didn’t have any flavor and it was disappointing. The atmosphere was nice and the server was wonderful. I will return for more!

I had the ribeye, hubby had shrimp scampi and both were very good! Service was pretty good especially considering our server had a ten top also. The worst thing is the acoustics, awful. A Monday night and not terribly busy except for the ten top but my ears hurt. They do have outside seating which I will try next time.

I’ve been here a couple dozen times over the last year since I travel to the area a lot. I’ve tried a lot different dishes. They are very inconsistent. A dish will be good one day and horrible the next. The Sea Bass is usually good. But I’ve stopped ordering it because the last couple times instead of being seared on the outside, it had some sort of breading that tasted like shake and bake. The sides with most dishes are always rice and mixed vegetables. The vegetables are usually always undercooked– almost raw. That’s bad enough, but the last few times, they have cut them in thin ribbons and they are heaped in a wet pile in the middle of the plate. The warm bread and flavored butter is a nice touch. But unfortunately, about half the time it’s not ready and they don’t bring it out until the food is being served. I ordered the fish tacos one time and it was inedible. The fish was mushy. I think it was reheated or something. They consistently under cook everything. I’ve ordered the Peppercorn Fillet appetizer about a dozen times. It is usually pretty good with the sauces it comes with. But if you order it cooked medium, it will be uncooked-blue-rare. To get it the way I like it, I order it well done, and it will come out still red in the middle– medium rare. I ordered the Salmon and it came out totally uncooked. It looked like they seared it for 10 seconds on each side. I asked for it well done. They brought it back out and it was still pink in the middle the way I like it. I’ve stopped getting the Mahi because it is flavorless and the mango is never ripe. The Clam Chowder is very good. Service is usually average. I wish there was somewhere else to go in this area in this price range, but there isn’t.

I was very pleased with this restaurant. It was clean and very comfortable. We arrived late 930PM and the kitchen is open until 10. The food was excellent and was cooked fresh. I had the blackened grouper sandwich which was amazing and for an appetizer we had the coconut shrimp. Also very good. The Clam Chowder was a little extra bacon flavored for my taste but very good. I would recommend this place and go back for more dishes.

I stayed accross the street and enedup here for lunch. They have wide seafood selections, very nice ambience and friendly staff. If weather is good, outdoor deck sittings would be awesome. I tried 2 items _key west chowder and fish taco — both were good.

I am always leary of places that smell like fish. A seafood restaurant should not smell fishy in my opinion. Fresh fish should not have an odor. Anyway, with a bit of skepticism, I ordered the fish tacos. I have to say they were quite tasty. They were fried with cabbage and aioli served on a soft flour tortilla. It was definitely a lot better than I expected. The fries were awesome too. The service was average, but I think the servers were confused because we kept getting two of them checking up on us. Overall the food was good, but the smell of it just made me think it was a dirty restaurant. Maybe I went on an off day… or maybe they need a health inspector.

Kingfish Grill is average, at best. Our 3-rating is actually generous. We stayed at a hotel nearby and figured this place served fresh, local seafood, which they had little of. While our food was ok, nothing we ordered would make anyone crave a return and while our server was very good, the food didn’t match her effort, unfortunately. Again, if you come expecting an ok meal you’ll be satisfied. Anything more, however, and you’ll feel like you made a mistake by coming here. Even the drinks were very average. The martini my friend ordered had olives and blue cheese that tasted nasty and the appetizers weren’t the flavorful coconut shrimp and calamari we expect. The shrimp was nearly burned(you can see in the photo we took) and the calamari was dry. Our dishes were fair, too. I ordered the frutti de mar, which came lukewarm and the spicy marinara had little to no flavor. There was definitely no spice. None of the seafood(there were two mussels, two clams and two shrimp) tasted local. My friend ordered the fish tacos and the waitress warned us it was frozen fish, nothing local. Come on, guys, everyone has local grouper. Use that! It would make the difference in the world. Still trying to figure out the identity of this place. There’s no great food(they said they used to have sushi, but it bombed and they took it off), the drinks are average and while the atmosphere is pretty good, what makes a person return here? That I can’t answer. We wouldn’t come back.

Very laid back atmosphere with great, reasonably placed food. When we were leaving our place, my fiancé looked at me and asked if he wasn’t dressed up enough. He didn’t have to worry because once we walked into Kingfish Grill and saw the range from business casual to tshirt and jeans, we knew we were in a good place. There aren’t many places I feel right at home once I walk in, but this is definitely one of them. You can sit at the bar or at the hightops, booth, table, or outside. There were quite a few individuals sitting at the bar eating alone. This is a place I would feel comfortable doing that. Outside there was live music playing, but we chose to sit inside since it is kind of hot. I got the Ultimate Fish Sandwich(blackened) and it was delicious! It satisfied my craving for fish. The french fries are steak cut(my fiancé said they looked like fried apple wedges). They weren’t great, but they weren’t bad either. One of these days I’m going to be strong enough to substitute out fries for something healthy, but it is not that day yet. My fiancé got the Chicken Marsala and got pasta instead of the mashed potatoes and asparagus it comes with. This was a great choice, because the pasta(I think it was spaghetti) with the sauce was to die for. There was a slight sweetness to it that I loved. Although this place is easy to miss, do yourself a favor and try it.

Although they’ve changed the menu here and got rid of my coveted blue point oysters and sushi this is still one of my favorite places to go. I always sit in the bar area and received excellent service from Brandon, Collin or Mike. Their elderflower martini is delicious and if you go at happy hour select martinis are $ 5.00(select martinis. not all) They have a great draft beer selection and have stepped up the wine list as well. I always get their edamame appetizer($ 4.90) as it’s a perfect light bite to start a meal. Their fish sandwich is one of the best around($ 8.90) up grade to grouper for $ 4.00 more. Always fresh, always delicious. Their dinners are nicely done and I’ve had a delicious steak here as well Always a great place to meet people and enjoy a great mea

Stopped for a bite on the way to Tampa, nice surprise. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass over Jasmine Rice and vegetable medley., very tasty. My husband had fish and chips that he said was very good. We also had desserts — Key Lime pie and cheesecake — both very good. The place was not crowded at all, our waiter Teddy was very attentive to our needs. Definitely, worth the stop in our opinion.

If I could give 10 stars, I would! From the food to the service, everything was absolutely amazing! We had the crispy bacon wrapped scallops and tuna tataki for appetizers. The tuna was definitely caught earlier that day(it was that fresh) and the scallops were perfection(crispy bacon around a perfectly cooked scallop). Our entrées were the Mediterranean chicken with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables, and Chilean sea bass with a coconut island rice and mixed vegetables. Both were to die for! Finally we finished with a brownie sundae and cheesecake with a raspberry coulis. Our server was Teddy and he too was awesome. I found my new favorite place to eat!

A recent trip to Florida(tho cloudy and cold) proved to be a good trip after going to Kingfish. If you are not careful you can miss it. Right off the main drag and part of the Ramada the food was awesome. The calamari fresh and crispy, the blackened grouper served on a mound of fresh veggies was a treat we couldn’t get enough of. We had an appetizer of bacon wrapped scallops that were cooked perfectly and not greasy at all. Good service, nice atmosphere, next trip I am there!

Update– I checked my credit card statement and it turns out they charged me for the entire bill. My friend paid for a portion of it. They charged her too. :( I guess I won’t be going back at all!

3.5 What a great seafood restaurant! A great alternative to Red Lobster for sure. It always amazes me when people order non-seafood items at a place that has FISH in the name of a restaurant. Stick with the seafood and you will be happy with what you get here. The seafood is very good quality. Calamari was very good but I did not like the presentation of it swimming in sauce only bc it made the the squid on the bottom soggy. Nonetheless, a great menu with many different options. They have small bar area right front of the dining room. They have quite a few TVs scattered about which brings down the intimacy of the place so not a stellar pick for a romantic date. It is a Great option for large parties and families. I do also really like that they have an outdoor patio, but it is not shaded or anything.

Tucked beside a hotel with an unassuming exterior, Kingfish Grill & Taphouse is serving up some delicious dishes and drinks. Its a popular for Lunch time crowd from nearby companies, but a great hangout for after work drinks. The space is small and intimate and any group larger than 6 people, can seem like a huge noisy crowd. For such, there is a room that can be reserved. Take a peek at the menu and you will find them offering a variety of creative items that will spark up your tastebuds. Try the Corn Pudding Oysters(Spicy Corn pudding oysters with bacon and chive oil) — spicy+oyesters+bacon holly! I’m in Oyester heaven. OR Conch Fritters OR Garlic Feta Shrimp OR Bacon Wrapped Sea Scallops. You will be off to a great start, as you wash these down with a Orange Wheat Tea(Belgian white ale, Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea Flavored Vodka, orange juice, orange zest). Move on to Szechwan Salmon OR Twin 6 oz. Caribbean Lobster Tails OR Baja Fish Tacos OR Corned Beef Ruben OR Bone-in Center Cut Pork Chop pair it with a White or Red wine, and you will find your stomach thanking you like you like never before. If you are into Sushi, start with Kingfish Roll and move onto Hawaiian Dreaming OR Fire Dragon and you have one fabulous platter of colorful chop-stick bites. Finish with a Lemon Meringue Martini and you will come full circle. The service here is personable and the staff work very hard to make your experience a great one. You can tell they are working very hard. I commend them for their effort and its paying off. The prices here are reasonable and certainly match that of the high quality. Anyone reading this review, please keep it a secret. I never want to go here and have to wait around to be seated and served. The more popular a place the more crowd, the longer the wait. Am I being greedy with a hidden gem like Kingfish? You bet I am. :-)

I hate to do this, especially after reading the phenomenal reviews, but maybe I just had a bad experience. Since it was my first visit, I wanted to give a little bit of everything a try. My girlfriend and I started out with two sushi rolls, not very impressive, bite sized rolls that were very comparable to the rolls served right down the street at Courtside Grille. We got the mahi mahi and I got the pork chop for our entrée. I was not too impressed by those either, her mahi mahi was bland and my pork was over cooked, I ordered it medium rare and got borderline medium well. The presentation was a little sloppy too, but judging by other posts that doesnt seem to be the case, so maybe they were just off of their game on the day I came in. I feel this place is really struggling to find its personality, it almost seems like its trying to go with the slightly upscale seafood restaurant, but theyre also trying to be a taphouse with TV’s around every corner. The amount of TV’s take away from the typical intimacy of an upscale seafood restaurant, making me feel a bit confused as to what theyre goin for, a seafoodish gastropub perhaps? Overall, the service was decent, they keep the place clean, but the food was not great for the price I paid.

I ordered the grouper piccata. It was amazing. , My husband got the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo and we both agreed that it is the best we have ever had. My mom had the mahi mahi and was very pleased and my dad got the swordfish. All of us were more than happy with our experience. The service was just ok, but the great food made up for it! We will return.
