The pizza was delicious and arrived very quickly to the table. A couple of things to mention though, the place was very loud. Had to nearly shout to be heard by my lunchmate. Also, the place was cold. I finally just put my coat back on to keep warm. No hot beverages, no coffee, no hot tea. Probably the biggest reason I won’t return is portion size. The entire pizza’s size is slightly larger than a normal slice of pizza at a cost of $ 9.50. It was tasty but for what you’re getting, I thought the price was exorbitant. Plus I had to pay $ 2 to park as their tiny lot was full.

Such a great bistro. I’ve never had a bad thing here. It’s set up like a subway/chipotle style ordering for salads. You can also get their flat breads and soups

When I worked in the area, this was my go to lunch place. It can be super busy during lunch time but there always manages to be an open spot once you’re through the line. Now that I live nearby we’ve started going here again. Carry out is nice and easy and not a place you have to get dresses up for a quick bite. I usually grab one of their salads and haven’t had one I don’t like. I also live their butternut squash soup! Overall is recommended for someone looking for a low key quick meal.

In all fairness, we didn’t realize that this place was this kind of place. Somehow I missed that it was a preorder place, which we’re not always fans of. So when we walked in, we were already disappointed. But that’s not really the restaurants fault. We ordered our soup and pizza, paid, and sat down without event. Wine took a little longer than it should’ve to come out, but the pizza was out only moments after the wine, so that was fast. BF’s mushroom, pepperoni, and sausage pizza he said was good. I got the fire roasted veggie, which was not really that great. It was so overpoweringly oniony, it completely ruined the pizza. Ok, but with a million other pizza options in St. Louis, I’d pick just about anywhere else if given the option, although I’d be ok with going with say a group that wanted to go. The most awesome thing about it was the mushroom and brie soup. It was amazing. I’d go and order 3 bowls for a meal. It was really good. I may be back for a to-go order of soup sometime, but otherwise I’ll pass.

So, we had a Citropolis Ale from St Louis, a wonderful STLPA by Modern Brewery as well as another local and a Yukon Steakhouse pizza which their menu describes as «Parmesan cream, sirloin steak, bacon, Yukon potato, onion, gorgonzola & Crushed Red mozzarella blend with fresh rosemary.» That was damn good! Our original selection was sold out as it was close to closing time. That’s a good sign of fresh foods when anything«sells out» anywhere. Even while we arrived about 12 minutes before they were closing and didn’t leave until about 15 minutes after they closed(had to unlock the door to let ourselves out) it didn’t seem to bother anyone. In fact a manager came by and introduced himself after noticing us taking a bunch of photos. I introduced ourselves as my wife«from Japan», myself«from California» and explained that we live in Texas. He explained the concept of the brand and when we asked if it’s sustainable when looking at all of the left over salad being disposed of(they were closed when by the time we finished our beers and pizza) he said that they have to pay someone to compost their left-overs. So, yeah it’s slightly pricey and almost every real restaurant and grocery store in the US does encounter food waste(from what I have seen on documentary programs) it was a good feeling to know that the left overs here don’t just go in the trash. Can not put my finger on a single negative aspect of our dining visit and in fact I went by a few more times to try local St. Louis craft beers, so yeah. 5 stars.

We had our typical pizza/salad combos today, but we also tried the Warm Herbed Goat Cheese. It was simply creamy goodness. It came with some grained crackers, as well as some warm baked pizza crust bread. Both combos were so yummy. Will continue to love this place.

I work close to this place and my wife really loves to eat here. They basically have one of two kinds of food: salad or flat bread pizza. The pizza here is decent but it isn’t a lot of food for the price. You normally think of pizza as being filling but it isn’t that way here. The salads are pretty good(this place is basically like a Chop’t) and the soups are very solid if you are into that(I recommend the mushroom bisque.) During the work day this place can be pretty busy but the staff are very friendly and they move the line along pretty quickly. I usually get the salad with steak as my go to meal but my wife has had several different salads and has loved them all. She really loves the Pear on Fire and Health Nut(or something like that.) Not my best work here obviously haha

Consistently great lunch spot! It’s like subway/chipotle for salads. Everything is fresh and made to your liking. Definitely try the Green dressing! The portions are big too so a medium is like a large salad elsewhere. There’s usually a line during weekday lunch hours, but it moves quickly.

If you want a tasty and fresh salad this is a great place to come to. I had a not so great experience here simply because of the service. I was a little confused by how the line worked and I wasn’t given any direction from the staff. The hostesses were friendly but the guy who was putting together my salad was unfriendly and disinterested. I guess I like to have a friendly interaction when I go to a restaurant even a fast food one. The salad comes chopped up which I didn’t know. I also was able to get spinach and not just the standard romaine. The salad was definitely fresh and really tasty. I didn’t try the pizza but I’m sure it could be good. I’m still not sure how the restaurant works but it appears you order and then maybe they bring it out to you? It looked like a full service restaurant and I was looking for takeout so I didn’t really pay attention. It was dark like a cozy pizza place inside. It was different than most build your own salad places that are open and airy.

Delicious but a little pricey. Hoping the price is because of all the fresh ingredients. I took the family to this location after trying it for lunch myself. It was a hit! I ordered the This Pear is on Fire salad AGAIN because it is that good. I shared it with my husband and he enjoyed it too. You must like spicy though because it has a habanero honey vinaigrette. I also ordered a Yukon potato and steak flatbread — which was delicious. The crust of the flatbreads is so airy, it’s fantastic. I got the kids a cheese pizza and a side of shrimp(my daughter loves shrimp). They devoured all their food. We got a cookie to share and my hubby got a beer. It cost $ 35, which I felt was a little pricey for the quantity of good we got. The place is clean, the staff is wonderful. Highly recommended fast casual restaurant.

Crushed Red is a great spot when you crave pizza and salad. There are many options for both and it’s a great serving size for the pizza. It’s a great choice for a location to appease meat eaters and vegetarians! The prices are good and you can order wine or beer so it’s a great date spot or dinner locale when you are on a budget!

SO I am going to update my avatar with the pic of me from the time I was eating an appetizer called ‘bacon in a cup’ so keep in mind that I would not choose to go to Crushed Red if it were up to me. But my stepdaughter the Pediatrician lives in StL and since we were visiting her, it was all about the ‘healthy choices’. We call her the ‘food police’. She loves Crushed Red, so we went to Clayton. The three of us ordered a flatbread pizza with fresh mozz, sweet sausage and portabellas, and each of us had a different salad. Highest marks for freshness and taste; I’ve had good salads and pizzas at other places but I must say this stood out. I don’t know if it is due to the nature of the dressings, the freshness of the ingredients or the preparation methods(chopping) but every ingredient could be individually tasted. Unfortunately, that meant I could really taste the cucumbers on my Emerald Coast salad, and I haate cucumbers, but of course one could simply ask the staff to ‘hold the cucumbers’ which is not a problem whatsoever here. My wife had a Welcome Back Cobber salad that was awesome. The flatbread pizza was not overpowering, kind of subtle. It suffers in comparison to, say the ones from Pi, but for a work lunch they are ideal. I am a fan of Crushed Red, and next time I am in the Lou, I will return. I will just have them hold back on the cukes.

Delicious pizza! Very gourmet. They have individual pizzas that are the perfect proportion. Outdoor or indoor seating too! Very nice place and very delicious food. The food basically speaks for itself!

Crushed Red doesn’t live up to the hype a lot of people give it. The pizzas and salads looked great and the reviews by some people and media made it sound fantastic. However, I don’t think it’s worth the money. If you’re rich and don’t care about pricing and can spend $ 25 on lunch then this place is great for you. If you’re like me and only go out to lunch on a payday, then go ahead and try some other place in Clayton. I tried the Mushroom Medley pizza with Chicken and Bacon. The chicken was great, very juicy and not dry like a lot of places today. The bacon was the most disappointing part of the pizza. Paying $ 2 for a tiny sprinkle of bacon pissed me off and is why I will never go back to Crushed Red. If I have to pay extra for a topping then shouldn’t it cover the pizza? That amount of bacon you see in my picture is probably equal to one strip of bacon.

I’ve been to Crushed Red many times for weekday lunches. Simply put, I’d give the salads 3.5 stars and pizza 1 star. You have a lot of options in ingredients for the chopped salad. The pizza dough is not freshly made and they taste like frozen pizza or worse. They are also tiny! Whereas the salads are in big bowls! I believe St Louis needs more fresh salad places like this so I’d be supportive and give it a-OK for now.

My girlfriend and I went for lunch January 20. What a lovely space, with a parking lot, in downtown Clayton. Neither of us have been there before, so we needed to get the lay of the land. We were early enough to get the rundown from the associates. She got a small salad and a flatbread. I got a regular salad($ 6.75). I chose make it yourself. I got Romaine, tomatoes, Kalamata olives and feta. My salad was good. The ingredients were fresh. And I liked the combination I created. This is a great option. She enjoyed her salad and flatbread. And she shared a piece of the flatbread with me. It was really good. We both took home food for another meal.

Everyone enjoyed their respective salads. FYI the mini was plenty for me. The portions are scaled pretty big. The Tuna salad used actual fresh tuna. Great flavors, and by far the winner of lunch time takeout this week for our training group.
