This place is great! I stopped by while in Claremont for the day and was delighted with it. The coffee was excellent, and the wrap I got was very fresh and delicious as well. Friendly service, good atmosphere and good prices too! Definitely will be stopping by whenever I’m in the area

The place used to be great, cool atmosphere where students would always hang out, but then the prices went up, quality of pastries etc. went down, and it is nowhere near as good as it first was when the new owner opened it back up.

The owner was working there when I arrived. He took our order and was the only individual working, so when others in line needed to still order the drinks he became unavailable to make the food. It took about 20 minutes to be made, but it was good! The coffee was good too — I got a latte and breakfast burrito. This is a small business and it is in rural NH. You can’t expect it to be spotless or the best you’ve ever had(well, you can, but it’s not going to happen). If this was in a city, it’d get three stars(or 2.5), but it’s not and that’s why I’m giving it four. For the town of Claremont, this is the place. Food was good, coffee was good — owner worked hard. Small town coffee shop — don’t be picky.

Their mochas are quite impressive. I was there yesterday and ordered two while catching up with a friend. The service was great, Jesse is a friendly guy. He seems very excited to be running this business. Highly recommend it!

While probably the best coffee in town, this place would not survive if there was a Starbucks within 10 miles of Claremont. Their espresso tastes like a strong brewed coffee. Consequently, the difference to the brewed coffee served everywhere else in town is not that huge. It does have friendly service and a nice«independent coffee store» feel to it, with some nice original touches as the real silverware to stir your coffee rather than using disposable stirrers, but even that feels to be somewhat half-hearted. They have had the same daily trivia on their countertop chalkboard for at least 6 weeks…

I came in to Java Cup last weekend, I ordered a medium iced latte, and the other order was a double macchiato. Both were pretty bad. My latte was basically milk with a hint of coffee. While making the macchiato, the person working informed us that he was unfamiliar with it(which is fine, it wasn’t on the menu), so we told him that just a double espresso is fine. What we got was half a cup of extremely strong/dark coffee. If it was espresso, there was definitely way too much. However there was also no crema. I think the machine didn’t have enough pressure. We ended up pouring the«espresso» into my iced latte and getting a half decent café au lait. If Java Cup marketed itself as a bakery that had coffee, that’d be one thing. However, the espresso was so far off from what an espresso should be, I don’t know how they can pass themselves off as a coffee shop. The redeeming qualities(why this isn’t a 1 star review) were the pastry(java bar) and atmosphere. The pastry was delicious, and we really liked the atmosphere as well.

I’m giving this place 5 stars, not because it’s the best coffee shop in the world, but because it’s the best coffee shop in Claremont — and probably the surrounding area. Java Cup feels like a «real» independent big city coffee shop, with a little small town charm mixed in. They have the usual assortment of espresso drinks and 4 or 5 different brewed coffees. Their pastries are outstanding — a large selection, and almost all of them made right here on site. They also make sandwiches, salads, and burgers for lunch, and egg dishes for breakfast. Everything is made to order, so food service isn’t as fast as you might expect, but I wouldn’t call it slow. Java Cup sells whole or ground beans to take home, and I was really pleased that they carry organic Yergacheffe from Ethiopia(my favorite for home, when roasted well). Their bean prices are outstanding! I’ve paid twice as much for beans from the same region from coffee shops in the city. They also have about a dozen types of tea, though they are just bags, not loose leaf. There are 6 tables and 1 chair, so the place fills up at lunch. They have fast, free WiFi, plus the walls are covered with local artwork(for sale). I already mentioned the beans are inexpensive, but their drinks and pastries are very reasonable, too. The store is locally-owned by a couple who bought it about 4 years ago and expanded the food offerings.

I found Java Cup while reading Unilocal reviews. My boyfriend and I were just passing through town as our last stop on the way back to CT from our weekend getaway. We thought that it was a cool little shop. I just had a large cup of coffee which was so huge I couldn’t even finish it all! The employee at the counter offered me a to go cup when we were leaving but I decided not to take it since I didn’t want to waste the cup and at that point had definitely had my fill of coffee. They did have several brews to choose from for the same price. I was handed my mug and then allowed to select which type of coffee to pour myself. I actually tasted all of them by pouring a small sip of each style coffee into my mug which was a helpful option(not that they encouraged this behavior but no one tried to stop me either) especially before committing to such a huge caldron of joe. Staff was friendly, perhaps even overly accomodating. As I said, they offered to reheat my coffee and put it in a to go cup but I wasn’t even interested in taking it. I appreciated the effort though. The interior is small and narrow, but there are multiple tables to choose from. It was clean and cozy. If they added a couch or some soft armchairs, that’d be an asset. There is artwork on the walls which appears to be by various local artists. They also had a prominent community bulletin board right near the front door which I thought was practical and highly noticable. It was quiet when we were there on a Tuesday evening around 5pm. Very comfortable place.

Like Dan said,. It’s okay. The latte was good and the service was friendly. Limited menu and very small and cramped. Medium latte and a scone was $ 6.30. Are we at Starbucks? They have free wi-fi which is good but its too crowded to get confortable and to do any type of work from your laptop. A nice addition to Pleasant St.

The Java Cup will draw you in with its coffee drinks, which are quite good, and the friendly service. I keep going back(even if I don’t need a coffee fix) for the chocolate chip cookies. They are yummy! They also have daily soup and sandwich specials, which I hear are great, but I have personally never tried.

It’s OK. Doesn’t have the same killer selection of the late lamented Green Acres down the street… but the coffee here is pretty good. Features a number of different varieties in a pleasant setting(what else would you expect on Pleasant Street?) and baked items. Inside the place is well stocked, service is friendly and fast and coffee is quite reasonably priced. Not what I’d call exceptional, but not bad. Makes a good addition to downtown Claremont and is the kind of place that would be comfortable in many of the region’s wealthier communities. Certainly worth a stop for anyone traveling through downtown or doing business in the community.

Great quaint coffee shop in the up and coming area on Pleasant St in Claremont has the Seattle, SF feel to the interior with a vast variety of coffee flavors and fresh baked products baked daily. Found this place by walking up Pleasant Street from the Nationwide Insurance Agency on School Street on my first morning into town after being absent from the area for the past 12 years. Great spot for a morning cup of coffee or afternoon snack. I hope to see you here soon!
