Will never forget the barking dogs for Xmas and Willie on the road again in the table jukeboxes. Great diner style food and a piece of my childhood

We split a fish dinner and a seafood dinner. Everything was fresh and nicely cooked. Guy at counter was very personable. Everything was neat and clean. All the prices seemed reasonable, except the whole belly clams were too expensive for us.

Was very happy to see this place reopen. The burgers are good, but I always get the chicken tenders. Pretty sure they are just frozen and fried, but somehow they do the best job making the chicken taste awesome. A must visit if you are in the Claremont area and have not yet been.

I have been going here for darn close to 40 years. They closed for a little bit, but now they are reopen. Since the reopening their food is even better then it was before. The have many varieties of burgers and it’s quality beef. They also have various seafood & subs and things to tickle the kids fancy too. The help is and has always been friendly and you couldn’t ask for better ownership.

I travel all over the country, so I am VERY hard to please food wise. I had a 4 piece chicken dinner that was some of the best chicken I have ever had. Prices were reasonable, the place was simple décor, but immaculately clean. Food was great, topped off with a FANTASTIC strawberry milkshake. Will definitely eat here again when working in Claremont.

Have to agree with previous reviewer. It’s just a local hole in the wall short order joint. Prices are reasonable, especially the $ 4 special of a chicken patty(decent), Cole slaw(standard), and fries(pretty darn good). Also ordered a strawberry milkshake and it was quite yummy. Tastes like real ice cream.

Cowboy up time! The Hitchin’ Post is an old school fast food place(order at the counter with menu boards) and there’s self serve booth seating in two cozy dining areas. Each booth has its own old school mini jukebox. The food menu consists of sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, fried chicken, popcorn chicken, fried finger foods, fried seafood dinners(scallops, shrimp, haddock, clam strips, whole clams), salads, shakes, and Coke fountain drinks(refills for a small charge). Some burgers on the menu include the Texas Burger, Pepper Burger, Bar-B-Q Burger, and Double Cheese Burger. Specials are offered too. The prices here are pretty fair. However, tomatoes were extra charge(at the time of this review) due to the freeze in the tomato crop. I had lunch at the Hitchin’ Post very recently and ordered the Chicken Burger Basket Special($ 3.89) with fries and slaw. The food was very standard fast food. The chicken burger was good, a deep fried ground chicken patty served on a soft bun with lettuce, tomato, & mayo. I can remember living on chicken burgers during my college years, which was a staple at the campus dining hall. The fries were very crispy and a slight salty taste. The cole slaw had a cool sweet taste. Overall a pretty decent and inexpensive lunch. I saddled up and headed off to my next job.
