My fried zucchini tasted like fish. I am guessing that they fry everything in the same fryer. There are better burger joints within a 2 mile radius.

Yum! My husband and I were craving a roadside burger. We drive by this place everyday and decided to give it a try. We were so impressed! We both got the double burger and when we opened it up, they were much larger than we thought they’d be. I was full just from the burger. Didn’t need any fries to go with it. We did order a large fry. You get quite a bit for a large. The fries were made to perfection. Not under or over cooked. Just right. It was too cold for a shake, but they looked delicious. We will most definitely be going back. The prices are fantastic! Only $ 5 for a huge double burger.

Sam classic burgers has been around since the 70’s and when my buddies and I would race over there from San Juan High School for lunch. It’s historical and the burgers are good. I suggest a soft serve ice cream cone after your meal they are delicious.

When you’re craving for a good old fashioned burger, this place will hit the spot. I’ve ordered a cheeseburger, fries, and a strawberry shake and everything is always soo good.

The food here is nothing special, just typical burger joint stuff. The reason I’m giving it only 1 star is because of their customer service — the Asian lady that works there(maybe she’s the owner idk) is so extremely rude and always has a seriously ugly expression on her face like she hates life and you at the same time lol. She’s so impatient when you’re ordering too it’s disconcerting to say the least. Due to her horrible customer service I’m never going back here. Deuces

Went here last night, didn’t even know this place existed, but boy do I know now. I went with the classic combo; hamburger and fries. The burger: the meat is not inspiring, the lettuce was everywhere, and the sauce redeemed it. The bun was a bit dry. The Fries: they were good, hot and fresh, the ketchup was some off brand(not heintz) so i didn’t try it. I left feeling nervous, who knew how I was gonna feel in the next few hours. I was ok tho, I sat in a movie theater for 3 hours tho. I might go back to Sam’s, I’ll be less concerned next time, with fewer expectations.

This is by far one of my favorite burger joints to go to. Their fries are so crispy and fresh. And the burgers tastes so homemade and that’s something I always for. I highly recommend this place if you want great service and great food.

Great hamburger, but bad attitude by the oriental lady who takes your order. Milkshakes were absolutely horrible. No flavor or syrup in them at all. Could not taste the difference between the chocolate and blackberry shakes? Asian lady is so cheap she will not even add the flavor to the $ 3.75 milkshake. Done with this place.

This isn’t gourmet, it’s a roadside burger and pretty decent. I was roaming around today and thinking about lunch. The burger place down the street wasn’t open(. it’s noon, on a Saturday) and don’t think I’ve ever seen it open. Came across Sam’s Classic. This burger joint ain’t fancy. It does have a very small inside dining space. It’s a little rough around the edges and there’s some maintenance to do. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it; I get it. Conveniently located next to bar on one side and a monument place on the other(the monument place has a 9 letter name with only 1 vowel). I ordered a double no-cheese and small fries. Not many peeps around. The food was bagged. Did you see the pic? The bag had the burger on the bottom and the fries on top(there was a small fry bag inside but more fries than fit in it). I managed out the burger without dumping more than on fry. A pretty decent looking burger, not a gourmet burger, a classic burger. Tasted pretty good too. I bet this burger would be awesome hang-over food and/or «I need to eat before I drink more» kinda burger — which is next to the bar. The burger and fries were cooked to order. I wish there was a 3.5 star option. I opted for 4 because of the Kings bobble heads and if I were coming from the bar, it’d probably be a 4 plus. Decent burger, fresh produce, tasty sauce.

Went here because we tried to go to Mr Pickels and the service was so bad me, my wife, and another customer all left… We continued to walk down the street passing over Jolly Burger(had that already, decent but not worth another try) and decided to just keep on walking to Sam’s. Not much seating outside and didn’t even notice the inside seating section until we left, oh well. The door leading into the indoor seating isn’t really labeled. We sat outside and it wasn’t that bad. As for the food I got a double burger, fries, and a coke. I must say the burger was very big and you get a ton of fries for the large. My wife got the fried zucchini sticks and I tried a few, very tasty! Everything I got was a nice portion and the cost, surprisingly, wasn’t too much! I would go back for sure sometime. Much better than Jolly Burger IMO.

My bf wanted to go to a «hole in the wall» burger joint, so I agreed. We were going to go to this one on the same street, but they were«closed», so we drove a little further, and saw this place next to The 40. I’m very happy we ended up coming here. Its not an AMAZING burger place, but it is amazing considering how cheap it was. $ 40 for 2 burgers, 2 fries, chilli cheese fries, two grilled ham/cheese sandwiches, 2 sodas, and a shake. Well worth it for the price. Fries were good, burger was good, shake was freaking delicious! I got a peanut butter chocolate shake. First of all they use real peanut butter *drool*, and secondly they use real ice cream, thirdly it was $ 4 for a large, so freaking good. I’d go back for a burger every once in a while but HOTDAMN I’ll be back for the shakes like everyday lol.

This small walk up burger stand, has probably the best milk shakes I have tried. They have a list of different flavors and they make the shake nice and thick. The burgers are old fashioned style, chili cheese fries are delicious too.

I just moved up here from the bay area and passed by this place while apartment hunting. After a couple of months, today I decided to give it a shot. I worked for nearly 8 years at a burger place with this same ambience. Little window. Little tables. Simple menu. Fries burgers and shakes. It was even called Sam’s. So I needed to see what this place was about. I ordered a bacon double cheeseburger. Large fries. Small chocolate shake. And two grilled cheese sandwiches for my kids. Total came up to a little over $ 18. Better pricing than my old place. But I see why. The shake was amazing. Tasted like they used real ice cream and the fries were good. But the burger was sub-par, at best. I am guessing they don’t actually have bacon, or they forgot it. Because it was missing from my burger. The bun is entirely too big for the patty size, which is relatively small. I had to add pickles to it. And I ordered extra mayo. Big mistake since it seems that’s the only sauce they put on to begin with. You can’t have a burger without mustard, so I added my own from home. The flavor of the patties was nothing to write home about. Based upon my first impression, I will not be returning. They only received two stars because their shakes and fries are decent. Next time, I’ll make the two+ hour drive to the bay area and get a real burger from Sam’s in San Leandro.

I stopped for a burger with all the produce to eat in the car. I was really happy that it was just like an old fashioned burger like the kind I used to have at «Rita’s» down the street(no longer there) at Sylvan Corner. They toast the bun and put lots of lettuce with onion and tomato(kind of a wimpy piece but tasty). The sauce was delicious. Like a thousand island with mustard. My only suggestion is that if you want a meaty burger, order a double because the patty is on the thin side and there is a lot of bun. Other than that, it was very good!

I so rarely give 1 star, a little bit of effort and I’ll index to two; however, the burger was the worse I’ve had, they don’t have Diet Coke, and they don’t take credit cards — three strikes rule in effect. The burger was quite a bit smaller than the patty that you get on a McD’s cheeseburger and yet the bun was as big as a BK whopper, plus the meat had no flavor.

Food: Burger and onion rings were good. Better then average, a little on the greasy side, as long as you’re okay with that. Ambiance: Old school drive in burger joint, can sit outside or there is a small inside area. Service: Simple and nice. Price: Under $ 10 easily. Overall: If you like burgers and happen to be in the Citrus Heights area, Sam Classic Burgers is worth checking out.
