By far our go to for Mexican food. The price is good and the service is above average. I have never had a bad meal there.

This is the best mexican food in our area. Unfortunately they will be closing their doors soon. Visit it while you can.

If I could give this place no stars I would. If you want to eat authentic Mexican food this is not the place to go to. This place tastes like Taco Bell I will not be coming back

First of all, the food was really really good! I got some enchiladas with the standard rice and beans; and my fiancé got posole. The price for he soup was great :) However… The service was really slow. Horribly slow. The restaurant workers seemed to be more focused on cleaning and closing for the night then paying attention to us. Then again, they were all very nice and once you asked for something, they would come back swiftly. I’m torn. I think that I should come back on another night before I judge these guys on service, maybe it was an off night? We will see.

Ok food. Walked in, went straight to bar. Hostess makes me move 2x just to end up where I had sat within 5 minutes maybe less, saying bar is reserved??? How do you reserve a bar? Ordered Cadillac Margarita– has to be best thing on menu. Good alcohol content for the price. During happy hour. Didn’t even give me the happy hour special. Didn’t take time to complain, they were having problems with the cc machine took awhile to get my card back hostess informed me. Bean dip is cheesy I love cheese so I thought it was pretty good. Guacamole and salsa are really oniony. Wouldn’t necessarily recommend any by themselves but, they compliment each other. Flour chips were under cooked and flimsy, corn chips are a bit salty. Meals weren’t special. Server was nice but could have paid more attention, even as busy as it was. Took my order never saw him again. Hostess brought me the bill. Overall come here for drinks, nothing else!!! Just an afterthought restaurant set up was crap. My opinion needs new the guy from restaurant impossible or something!

If your looking for good Mexican food and great margaritas, then this is your place! I had the chicken floutas and they were awesome. Cooked to the perfect crisp and I got a hefty portion of guacamole. YUMM! The house margarita was delicious and I really appreciate when you can taste the tequila over the mix ;) happy hour 3−7pm! Service was great and everyone was very friendly! I hope to return soon!

This is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in town. One of our favorite dishes is a simple one but it is made perfectly, we love their beans!!! Also there nachos come with your choice of any kind of meat and they are delicious! The prices are reasonable and their staff is super friendly. Would highly recommend!

I can’t believe my family lived near here so long without trying this place out. We were recently introduced to it and have come back multiple times since. It’s now or go-to local Mexican restaurant. Super nice management and quality food at reasonable prices.

I came to La Placita Dos one night for a quick dinner because I had heard some good things about it from Unilocal and from some of my old coworkers and I was in the area running errands anyways. It’s conveniently located by the mall as well as a few other shopping centers. Walking in there is a smaller room with a bar and a larger main dining room. Service was friendly but super slow at the beginning as to where I almost walked out. I finally ordered their Two Cheese Enchiladas with Rice and Beans and they delivered Chips and Salsa to eat while I was waiting. The chips and salsa were a disappointment. The salsa is served in squeeze bottles and is not freshly made in house. The chips were obviously from a bag as well. It’s always a red flag to me when a Mexican restaurant can’t make their own chips or salsa. The enchiladas themselves were good, I really enjoyed the red sauce that came on top of them but I’m not too sure if this is made in house either. The beans seemed canned and the rice was ok. The whole meal was just ok. I would come back to La Placita Dos if someone else wanted to come here, but I wouldn’t choose to come here again on my own. There are better Mexican Food options in the area.

Great place, great/friendly/quick service, good food at the right price! Chips & Salsa are free and really tasty! I used to always get the«Patrick Burrito». However/unfortunately, lately it’s been a 50 – 50 chance if I will bite into some gristle before I’m done with this dish, so now I played it safe and get their chicken enchilada dish — which is really good and always gristle free. Before gristle in the carne became an issue here I would easily give it five stars.

La Placeta Dos is my FAVORITE Mexican restaurant here in Citrus Heights! I have never once been disappointed. I usually always order the same thing: chicken verde enchiladas with rice and beans, extra side of Green Sauce. The bomb!!! My favorite margarita is the mango margarita! The service is out of this world. I love calling in my orders and probably go in at least 1 – 2 per week. They know my order even over the phone. They treat you just like family! Very clean, fast service, generous portions, and amazing food! You must try!!!

I used to run a finance office around the corner from this spot back in the 90’s and LPD was on my regular lunch rotation. LPD was actually in a smaller building in the same parking lot as its current location back then and this was the first time in twenty years I came back! I am happy to say the LPD super chicken burrito is still the bomb! I ordered it «hot» which ensured there would be a mix of diced jalapeño’s hidden inside my burrito. There is a ton of chicken, beans and rice inside this gem. Back in the 90’s this was one of my favorite burritos and here in 2015 it still is one of my favorite burritos! I had told our server I hadn’t been here in ages and he assured me nothing had changed, boy was I glad. I also enjoy the sweet, garlicky hot sauce which I apply on my chips via the ketchup type squeeze bottle it is housed in. I know the ketchup bottle is not appetizing, but hey I can put as much hot sauce on my chip as I want, without any spillage. I think I will be back before another twenty years goes by :)

Decided to try this place out tonight because our usual spots El Tapatio and Carmelita’s were packed for Cinco de a Mayo. Shorter wait here but maybe for a reason. Service was friendly and fairly fast for as busy as they were. Price was right But food was less than impressive. We had vegetarian burrito and burrito grande. My boyfriend ordered his hot and it was more mild than hot. Mine didn’t have much flavor and was more lettuce than anything else. and expected real beans instead of retried beans. Margarita was very weak. Also, a drunk homeless dude just walked in & tried to steal a woman’s purse from her table. Staff responded right away but a little unnerving. Probably will stick to our regular places in the future.

Oh no, no Horchata but if you pay extra for their pico de gallo and their special flour chips then it may just make up for it. Had their enchiladas, guacamole which is smooth and creamy and not the chunky kind, and everything was on point. The chicharron was the only fail. Extremely chewy with hard bones and not much crunch. Skip that and you’ll be okay.

I didn’t eat here. So this is a service review. Very attentive. Clean inside with lots of help around the restaurant. Friendly and bilingual. My friend loves their enchiladas. Chips are fresh but oily. Looking around the place, I don’t see anyone upset with their food. Friendly and happy place to eat. Enjoy!

What can I say, I’m VERY picky about which Mexican restaurant I go to. Probably because there are a few regular places that I frequent which makes going somewhere new a rather skeptical decision. But after hearing from one of my former bosses from a few years back, she raves on how good the food is here. Which takes me on a journey to Citrus Heights at «La Placita Dos» restaurant. Located direction on Greenback Lane and within walking distance to the Sunrise Mall, this«La Placita Dos» location is one of two locations; the other is located on Greenback Lane but further east in Orangevale. Parking is abundant as the entire strip mall also houses other restaurants and retail establishments. Since we had arrived before noon on a Saturday morning, we weren’t quite sure if it was open or not. Luckily, they do open at 9:00am which made our search for some authentic Mexican food an easy one. The interior to this place is quite impressive as there was plenty of ample seating located throughout. The décor offers a truly Latin vibe with authentic Mexican-inspired artifacts throughout. Not to mention, there was a couple of flat screen TV’s throughout and a nice little bar area. As we entered the restaurant, we were immediately greeted and given our seats with menus within just a minute. We were then brought tortilla chips and two types of salsa(mild & hot). Interestingly enough, the salsas are in a squirt type of dispenser which I’ve never seen before. As I glanced throughout the menu, I was indecisive if I wanted to go for breakfast of lunch(as the clock was just about to turn to noon). And I noticed they have very good deals on their«Lunch Specials»(which are offered 7 days a week). I narrowed down my selection and chose the«Carnitas Taco» lunch special(for $ 7.95). This combination plate includes refried beans, Spanish rice, & garnish. My lady decided to go with a breakfast option in the«Chorizo»(also for $ 7.95). This was made spicy also also included the beans, rice, and flour tortillas. We both decide on a cold glass of Horchata to go with our meals. Both of our plates arrive in less than 10 minutes and are piping hot. The first thing I had to try was a bite of my carnitas taco; immediately I was sold! The intense flavors mixed with the tenderness of the carnitas gave me the realization that this was as homemade as it got. It truly felt like something I would eat at a family kitchen and not at a restaurant. I also loved the creaminess of the beans as these tasted better than most beans I’ve had in the Sacramento area. The Spanish rice was fairly standard but still very tasty. I also tried a few bites of her chorizo and that was also very good. This is definitely a place I’ve wanted to try for quite some time and now that I have, I wonder why I waited so long! They give you a very generous portion as my taco was about the size of 3 street tacos. The service was prompt while the the staff were polite and friendly. Overall, I would highly recommend«La Placita Dos» as it definitely met my expectations. And as critical as I am about Mexican food, that’s a good thing!
