We have been to Kanak three times now recently(two for dinner and once for lunch buffet) and it is always excellent. Wonderful preparations and always a nice sized portion on the dinner menu items. The lunch buffet had a good variety, including fish pakoras, and the food was hot temperature which sometimes is a problem at buffets. Attentive, friendly waiters. Simple, clean interior. Appropriate pricing. Our go-to Indian place for us.

Great food and plenty to choose from off the menu. The special chicken tikka masala is very traditional and comes out fast. The vegetable fritters are also very well prepared with a variety of sauces to try. All kinds of nan as well. 4 stars for atmosphere, but what can you do. As someone who has had homemade Indian food, this is a good bet for keeping with the traditions. A must try in Montgomery.

I’ve never had Indian food before so I don’t know what to compare this to, but I really enjoyed it. I got the chicken curry which came with rice and an order of naan. The service was excellent and I thought everything tasted great but I wish I had chosen higher on the spice level. Now I have an excuse to come back!

Eat here all the time. Today however is my last. They made a mistake with my to go order(chicken instead of lamb) that I did not notice until I was home and serving the food to my family. Called the store and they offered to make a replacement. I went to pick it up and I asked them to also credit that item from my meal since I had to drive back and I missed the meal with my family. The manager told me that he would credit the entire meal but that they would no longer serve me in the future. I asked for clarity on that statement and was told again that I was no longer welcome at this store. I told him to keep his food and to forget about the credit. He obviously needed it more than me. I will never go back to a place with such disregard for the customer.

Excellent food, fast service, decent prices. I’m partial to the Chicken Curry and Plain Paratha but everything I have tried has been delicious.

Second to nan! We ordered the shrimp saag, chicken Tikka masala, chicken curry, rice pilaf, and two nan for take out. Although the wait to get the food was a little longer than prefered it was well worth it and we will be ordering again. We have been to another local Indian restaurant which was delicious as well but this Nan was second to none. Can’t wait for the midnight leftovers.

Skip the lunch buffet. It’s over priced and many of the dishes weren’t even stocked on the buffet. Unlikely that I’ll return, but if I do, I’d order off the menu.

This is the worst indian restaurant in cincinnati. We went forvlunch buffet last week. But didnt eat anything. I dont know who is their cook, but he dont know ‘C’ of cooking. I first tried chilly chicken. omg, it was like dry tomato chicken. Then tried wings. They were horrible than chilly chicken. Then i tried goat curry, which was ok. Tried Fish fry, it was cold & taste less. By that time i was out of options, because they dont even have biriyani. I dont know how he got those 4 star. But that was my first & last time. I would recommend others who like to taste how worst indian food can be coocked.

This place is pretty good. I tried this because a friend suggested it. My only complaint is I’d like to see more vegetables. There was a goat dish and a few chicken dishes in a bunch of sauce. There was a tofu dish. Some warm carrot dessert that I’d never tried, it was delicious.$ 10 for the lunch buffet was a little more than I usually pay for the Indian buffet. There’s no price for the buffet listed. The food was good, but it wasn’t the best.

My wife and daughter recently visited Kanak India restaurant. We had eaten there once before and really enjoyed the food. This time, she had an Entertainment Book coupon for 25% the total bill. They both ate and enjoyed their meals and even bought a third meal to carryout. The decision to eat at this restaurant(and certainly to buy a third meal) was predicated on the assumption they would honor the discount they published in the Entertainment book. After the meal, my wife presented her payment along with the coupon. After a very lengthy absence, my wife hunted down the waitress to find out what was going on. The waitress informed her would not honor the discount. My wife asked to speak with the manager and the waitress told her there was no manager on duty but she had talked to him/her on the phone. She also said there was a sign out front that explained they do not honor the Entertainment Book coupons. My wife went out front to check and there WASNOSIGN. She told the waitress there was not a sign and the waitress rudely argued that there was. My wife said, «Show me» and they both went together to look and indeed THEREWASNOSIGN. The rude waitress did not resign her position upon confirmation she was wrong. My wife again asked to speak with a manager and was refused. She was forced to pay full price for a meal she would not have ordered had she known the restaurant would not honor a coupon they published. They lied about the sign on the door and showed extreme cowardice in refusing let her talk to a manager knowing they were wrong. While we enjoy the food, we will never again visit this establishment given my wife’s treatment. We will not give another dime to these thieves, cowards and liars. There are many Indian restaurants in the area and we will only do business with ethical businesses.

Meat is not cooked properly for briyanis. Would not recommended this place for good briyanis. Chappatis are buttered rotis over here so pls be careful when you order. Only satisfaction is that chicken tikka masala was good.

Highly recommend for lunch buffet. The servers are attentive and the food is great. The buffet does not have the largest selection of «go to» Indian food, but still, the basics are there: chicken curry, jasmine rice, samosas, etc.

I’d describe the food here as heaven on earth, lol. I’m a big fan of Indian food so I maybe biased…

Horrible experience. what they call a biriyani is actually a pulao. who puts green peas in biriyani??? the kulfi was rock hard and tasted stale. Pathetic. The rasmalai is a sweet dish which is supposed to be served chilled and they served us HOT rasmalai. The server who was serving us was eating at the adjacent table instead of serving us.

My husband and I recently went to Kanak with two friends for dinner. We were seated right away at a sticky table and then we waited a very long time to put in our order; we had to flag down a server. The food was typical Indian fair with lots of vegetarian options for me. I love super spicy Indian food and always make a point to order the top heat level… not spicy enough at all! This always disappoints me a lot when I get Indian. The service was fairly poor. Our water ran out and we had to flag someone down for more rice twice because we only got one dish of rice for four adults. The food was okay, but I don’t think I would go back due to the unwelcoming service. Prices also seemed a little higher than other Indian places in town.

I have really changed my tune about this place. Recently they have spruced up the restaurant, adding some more seating and new staff and it’s back to being one of my favorite places to go for good food. The owner recognizes us and greets us warmly, but I see him do that with a lot of people, so it’s clear that the friendly vibe is a constant. I see people from all walks of life eating here and having a good time and the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. The spice level is great and the food comes out of the kitchen fast. The naan is especially good, soft and fluffy and perfect. I had a pretty mediocre review up before but I’ve changed it because they’ve changed and I’m happy to have my comfy old restaurant back!

Located in a strip mall, Kanak was spacious and clean inside with casual, classic décor. I had purchased a Groupon, and we had no issues using it. We usually try to make it a point to mention it early on, so there aren’t any misunderstandings. Since we had the deal, we had no choice but to order off the menu… which is a good thing because I otherwise eat wayyy too much at Indian buffets. We started with an appetizer that we hadn’t tried before. I can’t remember what it was called, but it consisted of crispy fried bread stuffed with onions and some other veggies and spices. We also had Paneer Bhatura, which is crispy layered fried bread stuffed with homemade cheese and Paneer Makhanni, which is kind of our go-to order. If you haven’t tried it before, this is homemade cheese cubes cooked in tomato and cream sauce. It was really creamy, and everything was really tasty overall.

Cincinnati loves its Indian restaurants, but this one didn’t have the«wow» charm of its cousins. I ordered the chicken tikka saag, and I was content. The spice level was a smidge dishonest, in my opinion, verging on the conservative side, but savory nonetheless. Kanak is owned by the same owner as Ambar and Dusmesh, so if you like either of the above, consider your meal a general success. The restaurant is small enough to hear yourself talk, and ideal for small groups. A comely bar awaits those of us who prefer takeout. The service is prompt and friendly. So, bottom line: you’ll have a decent meal here for a fair price, but nothing that sets it apart from other Indian restaurants.

I like this place, but I don’t love it. Some coworkers and I were looking to get out and try some Indian food, and Kanak it was. The interior was pretty nice, albeit unassuming and pretty standardly Indian(all of you Indian restaurant frequenters know what I’m talking about). As usual, I opted for the paneer makhani. The spice was good and the naan was good as well. My biggest complaint about my meal was that the paneer was not super flavorful or fresh. It was okay, though. In short: Kanak was good. Everyone seemed to enjoy their dish respectively. Is it my favorite? Absolutely not. Then again, I’d be more than happy to return if the occasion arose.
