First of all, let me begin by saying I’m not even a student at UC but hangout here when I want to comfortably watch football games and drink beer at a great price. My boyfriend(an actual UC grad student) and I first checked out the Catskellar on a Friday evening due to their«Friday Flight Night». You get 45oz. flights for $ 10 of any of their available seasonal craft beers. This is an excellent option for people like me who are amateur beer drinkers and are getting more accustomed to exploring different styles and tastes without the commitment of a whole beer. There are tons of beers to choose from even on their regular menu and they also have bar food options. During the day, they have several lunch specials as well. The Catskeller is truly a hidden gem in the center of campus that more students should definitely check out. There’s other daily specials such as Trivia Nights, Jazz Jams, Pint Night, Beer tasting and Live Music. The employees are pretty chill guys with excellent taste in music and the locale is clean and safe, perfect for those wanting to go out drinking and walk back/take the shuttle home.

By far, one of my favorite places to visit while back at UC. The selection of beers for an on-campus bar is unreal. From the beer tastings to the $ 1 Nattys during football games, you really can’t go wrong. Beer flights available as well! Oh and try the Skeller Sticks! Love this place!

Five stars for a great bar. Not just five stars for a great campus bar, just a great bar in general, regardless of location. The Catskellar is located right in the middle of campus on the bottom floor of Tangeman University Center. You’ll probably miss it if your not looking for it. The location is perfect for students. It allows you to stop in, in between classes and grab a beer, something to eat, or even just chill out and play some arcade games and pinball. The beer here is always on par with other bars in the area. They are always changing their taps and there is something new for you to try every time you go. I appreciate how they don’t lower their standards because they are on a college campus and only serve Bud Light. Some nights they have live music and other performers which is great. They also serve food which I’ve regrettably never had before but it looked decent enough from what I could tell. Oh and they also have shuffleboard, automatic star for me! All in all, when I went to UC I considered The Catskellar one of my safe havens. Surprisingly, not a lot of students know about it. Either that or they’re not a fan of good beer. Regardless of the reason, The Catskellar is an easy 5-stars for me. And I recommend if your on campus to stop in and check it out.

Catskeller is a great place to go on UC’s campus to get a beer. For the most part you won’t be able to take advantage of everything they have to offer until your Senior year, Grad School or if you are just coming by campus for this great hidden gem. Catskeller has great beers on tap and they are always a great price. They also have a lot of other beer choices in bottles. During the year they have pint nights where you can get a beer and pay a little extra to keep a glass. Other than the beer they have pool tables and shuffleboard that is a lot of fun as well as plenty of tables to sit at and live music. The food is ok, it’s a lot of fried and easy to prepare food. However, the price is right and for a quick snack to go with a beer it’s great. There’s also food upstairs in TUC if you prefer. If you’re on campus and want a good beer at great prices Catskeller is the place to go.

I work at, and am a student at, UC. I have walked by the Catskeller many times, but this past week finally had a reason to be on campus at a time when a drink would be appropriate. The place has a great selection of beer, user friendly in it’s organization and/or for those who are not beer savvy(see: me). I am not a beer fan, but they did have a few brands of cider I’d like to head back to sample. The décor is cool and relaxed with some fun murals on the walls and college/bar memorabilia around. There is a stage for live music and they play a local station, indie music, otherwise. Additionally, there are games to play and many places to sit(high tops, large meeting style tables, bar seating, etc.) so whatever your group size or motivation for heading over(getting buzzed or forgetting a bad exam) you’ll find accommodations to fit your needs. I think the Catskeller is a great addition to the university and will be back for some drink sampling some time soon. The food isn’t much to rave about, so do yourself a favor and eat beforehand or head to Mick and Mack’s for something tasty.

Located in the Tangeman University Center(T.U.C.) basement in the heart of the University of Cincinnati campus, Catskeller is one of the only on campus bars in Ohio, offering one of the best beer import selections in Cincinnati. Stop in to check out the weekly imports on tap or order your favorite import off the fixed menu. Prices are affordable, with the average beer costing around $ 3.50. The food selection is mostly fried food and does not taste very good. I was told by the bartender to order food from the food court upstairs. I was shocked by this, but after trying the chicken fingers, fries and pretzel, she was right. The food was just plan bad. The beer on the other hand, was quite delicious. When ordering beer off the menu, you will find that each beer type is broken down into sections, making it easy for you to find your favorite brew. I was contemplating ordering a draft beer from the board behind the bar but found the writing on the board hard to read and stayed with the fixed printed menu. For the more adventurous types, ordering from the draft beer selection on the board could be fun. Cost for bottled and draft beer are about the same. After ordering your beer you can enjoy all the amenities offered by Catskeller. They have pool tables, shuffle board, arcade games, and many other bar recreation sports. There is plenty of room for large groups and on the weekends you can catch local bands playing on the small stage located near the entrance. If there is no band playing they tend to play the local campus radio station which features pretty good music for the younger crowd. I gave Catskeller a 4⁄5 only because of the poor food, but minus this the place is a solid 5⁄5 in my book, and I will be making more stops in during class breaks in the future. Go Bearcats!

Who would have thought that such a great bar would be on a college campus? My friends and I have been here several times(although we are young professionals rather than students). The bar is usually not very crowded and well lit. There are great free and inexpensive games to play(corn hole, pool, air hockey, etc). On one occasion we brought our own food(pizza) and ordered beer at the bar. The beer selection is good and well priced. The only issues with Catskeller is they close earlier than most other bars and parking is difficult and far away.

As every other review states it is awesome that UC has a bar on campus. From the standards to microbrews this bar has a great selection of beers with a darn cheap price. The staff are friendly and know what they are talking about. Before hitting a basketball game at 5⁄3 friends and I try to hit up here for a beer since the selection and price are so much better than the stuff they serve at Nippert and 5⁄3rd. Every UC student must have at least one beer here. It’s also cool they have TVs and pool tables.

Catskeller is a must-visit for UC students, especially those over the age of 21. Located in the basement of Tangeman, Catskeller has a feel of a college dive-y bar but with an upscale beer selection. They are going to have your general domestics(at least a few of them). However, where Catskeller excels is having local brewerys and other microbrews on tap, or in bottles. The price on beer is hard to beat in Cincinnati. There are some great selections of micro/local brews for under 4 dollars. Some of the higher end stuff is about 4 – 5 for a snifter. But with these beers at other locations, prices are typically about 1 – 2 dollars more. Domestics usually run around 3 – 4 dollars. They do have food here, although it really is hit or miss. It’s pub-y food. Fries, sliders, etc. The Skeller sticks(breadsticks stuffed with cheese) are the best thing(as long as they cook them for the length they need to be cooked.) Several times I had chicken fingers that were not fully cooked — but this year, they removed them from the menu in favor of chicken rings(definitely glued together processed meat in the shape of a ring), which maybe wasn’t a bad decision since they are less thick. They also do pizza. You can also just wander upstairs where there are several fast-food restaurants. I’d suggest that if you’re dying for food that isn’t below average. Regardless, the food is cheap. They have combos for around $ 5.50. It’s hard to beat that. They have games, TVs, pool tables, and occasionally live bands playing. For the most part, it’s a hang out spot. Somewhere to enjoy a beer after class or before the game. Catskeller does fill up before UC football games, so beware! Get there early! Overall, it’s hard for an on-campus pub to get much better than Catskeller. The price is right and the beer is good.

On UC’s campus with one of the best beer selections in the city with student-friendly prices. Knowledgeable staff and more than 60 craft and international beer selections. During the regular academic year, they have a weekly Pint Night program on Wednesdays and host regular beer tastings and festivals at very reasonable prices.

You literally have to go down in the basement of Tangeman University Center(TUC) on Main Campus to find it, but once you do, you’ll be glad you took the trouble. Not many universities and colleges have their own fully stocked bar on campus, so this itself gives Catskeller the one up. The cozy, dimly lit space sets the mood perfectly for a college dive bar. Loved the ambience when a friend & I went to check out a Bell’s Brewery tasting recently(which was well organized & executed) and apparently they always have tastings, which again is a very rare concept for a college bar. I can’t wait to come back with coworkers for happy hour and fully check out the food & beer options.

The Catskeller is so convenient as it is on campus. Very few campuses in the country have actual bars on school property. There are many TVs and couches to sit on. They also have several games you can play(though not free). It is a good place to meet up with friends. They always have an interesting selection of craft beers and don’t really sell the standard beers like Miller or Bud. The idea is to drink quality beers, not to drink quantity of beers. I do wish they had some local staples like Hudepohl and Christian Moerlein, though. Great place with great atmosphere. I have never tried their food, but I am pretty sure it is decent/good.

Catskeller is a nice place to hide out on UC’s busy campus. Located on the bottom level of Tangeman University Center, Catskeller has lots of different games available to play, including pool, cornhole and some arcade units. You can also enjoy any number of sports events on their big screen TVs. Some students might be surprised to find they can grab a beer right on campus at Catskeller, but it plays into the whole vibe of the place. Live music can be found there several nights of the week, with a reoccuring series, «Acoustic Brew,» on Thursday nights that hosts singer/songwriters. The sound wouldn’t hold up well for a louder rock band, but it does well with jazz acts and folkier music. Standard bar food is also available for those looking for some heartburn.

Alright so the fact that this bar is on UC’s campus is already a bonus, does it help that I have good friends that work there? Probably. This is a great place to hang out and catch lunch and a beer in between classes or a live performance on weeknights. Pool tables, cornhole, DDR, and basketball shootout make this place real inviting. My favorite place to go during UC football games, because let’s face it, no one really goes to watch UC football games.

Open for lunch through dinner and into the evening Catskeller is the best place to hang out and grab a drink on UC’s campus. Catskeller also has one of the best beer selections in all of Cincinnati and regularly schedules beer tastings and dinners throughout the year. Located on the 1st level of Tangeman University Center, Catskeller offers a variety of food and drinks at prices much cheaper than other Clifton bars. Thursday nights offer live student performances each week with no cover. Pool tables, shuffleboard, cornhole, darts, arcade games, a jukebox and enough TV’s to show every game are a few of the other reasons to stop by Catskeller before, between and after classes.
