So disappointed, this place went downhill. They raised the price of their burger by about $ 5. My burger was so overcooked it fell apart when I bit into it. It broke into about three pieces. I’ve never experienced that anywhere. The bartender standing right in front of me never asked me how it was. No one said bye or thanks as I walked out either. This used to be my favorite spot, I recommended it everyone. Not any more. It’ll take a lot to get me back in there.

Not the same place I used to hang out. I used to love The Brew House. I thought I would stop in last week since they made a showing at #37 in Cincinnati Magazine’s 45 best burgers. Well here’s the rub. After making that ranking they changed the name of the burger from the big jack to the Cameron. The price also changed from $ 6.50 to $ 11!!! If this were gas it would be called price gouging. At this point I really didn’t want the big jack/Cameron anymore but I asked our hostess if it was worth the $ 11. Her response was you’ll have to make that decision… wtf?! I’m not giving $ 11 for a burger that was just $ 6.502 weeks ago. At this point I was ready to get up and walk out. I ordered the chicken wings with a side of fries. What I received were chicken fingers overcooked with side of fries. The place that I used to love has now become the place that I would never step foot in again. So sad

We live close to brew house and visit periodically. The food is great, service is awesome, and the owner is super nice. Always a good time!

Brew House has great burgers, and used to have a good menu, but the new owners have decided that the food they want on the menu is better than the popular menu items. Some of the most popular items are being phased out, on the premise that they«did not sell well». In reality, they are popular with customers, but not the new owners. All well and good(:-/), but there are other issues. We all understand that prices need to go up every so often, but, instead of raising them gradually, some menu items have gone up more than 50%. The«Big Jack» burger(voted one of the best burgers by Cincinnati Magazine, just this month) went from $ 6.50 to $ 11.00, and they changed the name. I stopped in the other day for lunch, and witnessed more than one table(more than two…) look at the menu, pay for their drinks, and leave. The website has not been updated, so be forewarned.

My wife got a half sandwich and soup, my son a grilled cheese, my cousin a French dip panini, and I got the Tally Ho Burger with a Wiesemann’s beer. All of the food was really good. I would definitely come back again!

Had high hopes for this place ever since I’d heard that they were one of the two places in Cincinnati(besides Park + Vine, which I love!) that carried vegan goetta. Was pretty disappointed to not see vegan goetta on the menu. The server for that night came to us and took everyone’s order but mine, so I had to rush after him to say you never took my order, and then I asked him if they had the vegan goetta that wasn’t listed on the menu, and he didn’t know what vegan meant. I told him if he could ask the chef if they had the vegan goetta and to check which of the breads were dairy– and honey free. So he said he’d go ask the chef, but it’ll be a while before he can get back to me since it was a busy night. He comes back after a while, says they have vegan goetta, and then I asked if he’d confirmed about the vegan breads, and he didn’t know and said he assumes rye is always without dairy, and I asked if he was sure, and he wasn’t, and I said never mind, I don’t need anything. I understand it’s a bar and not usually a conducive culinary environment for vegan food, but hey if you’re getting publicity for carrying vegan goetta, you need to list that on the menu and let your employees know what vegan options are on the menu. I was just there to benefit a charity for trivia(which was fun but poorly organized), so I just paid the suggested donation and didn’t end up having anything to eat at the place. It also took our server more than half an hour to close one of my friend’s tabs. Disappointed! I really wanted to give my business to this place especially for the vegan goetta and because I value local businesses that offer cruelty-free food options.

What’s NOT to love about this place: great black bean burgers and sweet potato fries, a huge beer list, friendly owners and employees, interesting locals and an old-school, kinda kitschy atmosphere. Plus, it’s half a block from my house so I can walk there in yoga pants and not feel out of place. We tend to come more in the fall/winter, but with ongoing renovations including a back patio, it should soon be within our wheelhouse all year long.

Awesome burger, fries and slaw. All very fresh and hot. Value can’t be beat for a double cheese burger. A few good bourbons and nice beer selection. Fun characters at the bar with nice juke box to top it off. Very much a local place. Perfect.

One word: Amazing! Don’t listen to the little man Dax V. Clearly it’s a guy with no friends and if he doesn’t get service in a busy place right away it’s bad and has no money because he wants a craft beer for bud light price. Music was great beer selection was great people were great. It’s a great bar in an up and coming neighborhood.

Beer/service review. First timer patron and if you’re looking for solid draft options, Brew House has you covered. They don’t carry a huge volume on tap but they’ve got good stuff plus good bottle/can selection. That said service is ehhh. Tuesday night, not that busy and not very attentive bar tender. Place is kinda hipster neighborhood village dive which is cool, but it’s so hipster they left the lipstick on my beer glass. Glad they like to clean around here… All in all, not terrible.

Went here after work with friends for a couple beers and appetizers. Had no trouble getting parked in the lot. Inside is very retro. Staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. They had a decent draft beer selection, and good bottle choices too. The menu is limited, but solid. We shared nachos(everything came on the side except the meat and cheese, which I like, because I prefer to «build my own»), cheese sticks(okay), and wings(tiniest wings ever, but crisp and good wing sauce). This was a great little bar to hit after work and relax with co-workers. I don’t live close enough for it to be *my* neighborhood bar, but if I did, it might just fit the bill. Speaking of the bill, my boss picked up the tab(cheers!), but everything was really reasonably priced.

My dude and I recently moved to Walnut Hills and have heard everything about this place from«Super awesome neighborhood dive bar» to «Super scary don’t go there dive bar.» Having lived the last several years in New Orleans, we know a thing or two(or 50) about dive bars, so we had to check it out. We ended up going here right before Trivia Night(every Monday, I think), which was a little awkward because I felt bad about taking up a table when we weren’t really playing. It seems like it might be fun if you have a big group, though. Both of us got burgers. This was the only major food strike — we’d seen some great reviews of the burgers, but they were a little on the raw side for us(I tend to order mine medium, dude orders his medium-raw. His was pretty much rare-rare-rare). On the other hand, the apple crisp was delicious. And the fries that came with Dude’s specialty burger were incredible. Really, really good. I don’t know if they were beer battered or what, but very tasty. Brewhouse has several(but not a ton) of regional beers on draft. They also had a pretty good bottle list. Service was that appropriate dive bar/diner mix between no-frills and cozy-friendly. Also– free WiFi! I definitely think we’ll check it out again, but next time I might go for the BLT or fish and chips.

My narrow mind had decided what this place was all about before I even walked in the door. But my little brain had no idea what was in store. It’s perfect. Everything that I want from a bar like this. Their beer selection is absolutely amazing and covers a way wider variety of beers than I had initially thought! The food – I had the fish and chips – was delicious. My friend had a burger which he really liked, and their menu made it pretty difficult to decide. The service was friendly and prompt with both servers apologizing for our party having to wait a few minutes longer than they thought we should’ve. The demographic seems to be a great blend of everyone. It was incredibly comfortable to be in the bar. We are going to try and do their trivia nights on Monday also now!

UPDATED: Been here twice: First time I got the Cajun-style grouper dinner with two sides(I picked cole slaw and baked potato from the sizable list). It was one of those meals I wished would never end — delicious fish was meaty and nicely spicy; cole slaw and potato were flat-out fantastic. Nothing elaborate, just extremely well-prepared pub grub that’s several cuts above average(and at a very reasonable price — less than $ 9 for the entrée). On my second trip, I opted for the daily burger special(check their website for each day’s offering, although you can always pick your own extras from the long list of options). I got a classic — grilled mushrooms and onions with swiss cheese. It was a great burger, cooked to order(medium) and served on a high-quality bun with potato chips and a few pickle slices. Easy parking, a full bar with some good bourbon options, a small selection of draft beers and a fridge full of wonderful craft brews made this place damn near irresistible. The warm and friendly service pushed it over the top. Can’t wait to go back and try a burger(they have daily specials on their website, too). Highly recommended if you don’t mind eating in an almost window-less bar while some hot R&B plays in the background.

I was really happy to see that the Brew House is still going strong! When I left Cincy in ’96 this was my «Cheers», and every where I’ve lived since I look for that same community atmosphere to no avail. I miss Jack’s salmon club and Italian sausage hoagies, and the outrageously friendly staff. I miss dancing on the bar during Big Band night and doing body shots with hottie bartenders. I miss the comforting oddity that the Brew House is to those in the know, and I miss being able to stumble home after a good night of boozing. Sigh… one of the few things I miss about home!

The atmosphere is interesting, a mid century pub feel. I’m a vegetarian and there are plenty of options on their menu that one can use to make a great veggie burger. Today I had their special, a reuben burger and it came on a fresh rye bun. It was ridiculously delicious. The staff is super friendly. This place is a great surprise. I’ll definitely be back.

I have to describe The Brew House with a term that Tracy Jones coined years ago, «It is what it is». And what it is would be a dive bar with great food and freindly service. The food is what you expect from a dive, and that’s what you get.

One of the staples of Walnut Hills is the Brewhouse, and for good reason. Lunch time at the Brewhouse is always hopping. Folks that work in the area and neighborhood folks all pack the place for their daily specials. Once you enter from the outside world, it may take your eyes a few minutes to adjust to the muted tones of the classic décor, but come in and stay for the food, indeed. They have an extensive menu of sandwiches, burgers and old school entrees such as open faced roast beef with mashed potatoes. My favorite is the Park Avenue Swiss Burger, named after the cross-street right in front. It’s a decent sized burger with mushrooms, carmelized onions and swiss cheese which is served with chips and pickles. They usually post their lunch specials on the website each morning, along with the soup and dessert of the day, as well. Everything here is reasonably priced and always filling. There’s a back room with a large-screen tv and one of the more eclectic jukeboxes in town, as well. And yes, as the name implies, there’s a divey bar with some of the cheapest beer specials I’ve seen outside of the west side. Recently the long-time owners of the Brewhouse have sold the business but so far, it’s still the well-kept gem it’s always been. I was surprised to learn they now deliver, as well. I look forward to seeing more of their improvements on an already good thing.
