This is our 5th time here in the past 6mo’s. Tonight — celebrating our 5yr wedding anniversary — we enjoyed the fresh made pasta and steak poutine. I promise you — you will never have a bad meal here — not only that, but the staff is very personable and Matt, the chef and owner, is a unique character who takes great pride in the quality of his food and service. I firmly believe this is the best restaurant I have eaten at … I have travelled the US and tasted quite a few places … I couldn’t believe that the best food I would find was in my own back yard. Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed. T&@$@$‘s

From top to bottom Virgil’s delivers a 5 star experience. Everything is made there, and I believe made to order. So while the wait is longer, it is worth it. There are many beautiful pictures to keep you entertained while you wait on your meal. The service keeps you satisfied in the meantime too. Our waiter was very nice, answering all our questions about the menu and the restaurant; all while keeping our drinks full. The food was fantastic. Even though I loved what I ordered, in the meal competition, my husband’s Cubano won. I only had a little bite and it has me wanting to go back. The portions are satisfying and the ambience is casually romantic. We were there for lunch and it was quiet. We’ll be back to try their other offerings!

We Always Love This Place, Something Different And Seasonal on the Menu, and all Locally Sourced and Very Fresh! Their Sunday Brunch i Wonderful, so hard to choose a single Item, I usually order 2 – 3, and take the rest home for next 2 mornings! The Mimosa’s and Coffee are the Perfect Starters, Fresh OJ, and the Bartender is always recommending New Things to add to my Coffee… Bad Bartender! :D We love to have Dinner here as well, been coming since they opened Many Years Ago, and will be there next Sunday for Brunch! Great Little Locally Owned Restaurant with Fresh, Creative Dishes featuring the Finest Local Ingredients… Can’t Beat It!

We arrived for our reservations on time and was immediately seated. We ordered drinks and starters. Drinks was very fast. We ordered the larder board which was very good. It’s combo of bread, different cheese and Italian meats. Goes great w wine. Me and my wife invited our neighbor. She had the chicken dumplings she said it was very good. my wife had the scallops she also said it was very good. and I luckily had the stuffed pork chop w potatoes and green beans. I expected pork chop to be dry cause most baked stuffed pork chops are dry. It was the very best pork chop I have ever had period end of story. If you go to Virgil’s you have to have the pork chop. The seasoning and flavors are a work of art. They blend well together. Desert was very good. Service was top notch. I will be back

Wow. Can’t say enough good things about this place! Everything was fresh and very fairly priced. French onion soup – onions were tender, Gruyère cheese was melted to perfection, broth was exceptional, not too salty like some places. Bread was homemade, Pizzette with goat cheese was fab, kettle chips were nice and crispy, hushpuppies came with amazing sauce, and definitely the best Reuben I’ve ever tasted. Next time I need to save room for drinks and dessert! Received a full tour of the backyard garden from the chef, he had us try a few tomatoes, herbs, and flowers. Awesome patio back there with shade and fans to keep it cool. Excited to come back.

Decent gin drinks, interesting atmosphere. A little overpriced for what it is but still pretty solid selection in Bellevue.

My son and I went for dinner a few months ago. The place is very charming, so much«ambiancer» and friendly staff. So nice and helpful to this handicapped woman! BUT we were not happy with the menu choices. I don’t remember what we ordered or the details now, but we let our fantastic waiter know we didn’t like the food ~ NEVER expecting to get the meal at NOCHARGE. Now I want to go back and try again! Our tab was only about $ 26 as I recall, we had appetizers/salad or something but not a full meal because we didn’t like the choices. Menu changes regularly ~ they didn’t have what I found online. I still highly recommend the place.

I have recently discovered Virgil’s café and I can gladly say it’s worth every penny! The food is freshly made, and they have different specials every week! They have a beautiful garden, where they get all of their delicious ingredients! Also all the staff members are amazing people as well as the owner Matt. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for good food and good people!

We LOVE this place! We have been here for brunch, lunch, dinner, special occasions, holidays, and special events. We’ve never had a bad meal or poor service here either. The Cubano is one of my favorite things to eat, along with the sweet potato fries. The biscuits and gravy they serve at brunch sometimes is one of the best I’ve had the pleasure of eating. The biscuits are light and fluffy and the gravy, made with goetta most of the time, is really rich. The menu changes all the time based on what they can get the freshest and/or what Matthew has growing out in his garden at the back of the restaurant. There is a small patio you can eat on, which is nice, but not dog friendly(just FYI). His menues are always creative and full of flavor and various options to try. The inside is nice and decorated with art from local artists. This place is a must if you’re looking for some delicious, creative comfort food! Also, the front door is not the entrance, which is actually at the side of the building between it and the building on the corner. Just a tip for newbies, because every time we eat there we see no less than 5 people walk up the steps to the front door and yank on it, despite there being a sign which points them to the side. :)

Food was fresh and local. Homemade pasta. And without a doubt, the best hush puppies I’ve ever had in my life… Service was awesome… Will be back!

My wife and I came here on a Friday night, a little bit late in the evening. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food was great! I guess they have a new chef that’s only been there about 6 weeks, but he really takes a lot of pride in his work. We definitely felt this way with our entrees. We had the tenderloin entrée and the salmon entrée. I believe they were specials that night. The décor is kind of quirky, but overall, a good dining experience.

The food is as good as advertised, but they only ever seem to have 1 server working, so be prepared to wait. I really don’t want to do business with a restaurant that treats their customers like that.

I have lived in Bellevue for nearly 8 years. I think Virgils came along shortly thereafter or has been here the entire time. I have had countless meals in this establishment. Celebrated birthdays, wedding anniversaries, engagements, holidays, etc here. I have never had a meal so bad here as to warrant a negative review or to swear it off forever, but thats because I am an adult. I like Matt’s cooking. I like his specials, I almost exclusively order those. The poutine is outstanding. Sweet potato fries are excellent. Whenever Matt is baking anything its always good. Also, I particularly have enjoyed the staff that have come and gone over the years. Even the staff that I did not love was still professional and prompt. For me, it has been an excellent restaurant. I feel lucky to have a place that is down the street, that serves that kind of quality, at that price point. But thats me. I sincerely hope Matt continues to do well, that he continues to offer paella nights and pig roasts, and all of the other fun inspired things he has done over the years. Thanks, John B.

I last dined at Virgil’s a few years ago and prior to my Unilocaling. So I was excited to reexperience the restaurant that had been one the best new establishments in resurgent Bellevue, KY. Sadly, the poor service left a shadow over the evening that the exceptional cuisine couldn’t overcome. The server wasn’t rude or anything they just lacked the experience of serving a cloth napkin meal. I feel the management has dropped the ball on staff training and the chef is left scrambling to save the game. The restaurant wasn’t busy and there were no large tables so I can’t dismiss this as purely an off night when the service should have been on point. The food however was delicious and didn’t disappoint. The hot slaw salad was quite tasty and the steak au poivre poutine was a French Canadian masterpiece. Then we ended the meal with crème brulé and pot de crème that left our party with no want for anything more.

We really enjoyed our visit. The artwork on the walls were incredible. The food was just average and overpriced. I had the shrimp creole and my wife had the Reuben. We were not impressed I had better Cajun at Popeyes.

We came for lunch on a Saturday and unfortunately were not too impressed. We were the only ones in the restaurant and while the service was fantastic the food was nothing to write home about. The lunch/brunch menu was pretty sparse– we ordered the Cuban sandwich and I love Cubans– but this one was just pretty average– nothing about it stood out. We also got the French Onion soup which was not bad– but it was this really thick consistency– like the onions were pureed into the broth instead of just being in the broth which we didn’t really care for. Our friend ordered an omelet which looked great so maybe it’s best to order breakfast instead of lunch. They did have a nice draft beer selection and a cute bar area. It’s a very cozy atmosphere which I really liked. We had been looking forward to trying this local favorite for a long time but I think lunch just isn’t the time to go– will have to come back and try dinner and hopefully it will be a better experience.

Virgil’s is amazing. Not just because of their food but because of Matt. On a snowy day in March, he delivered an order to our house! It was the best lunch date I’ve had in a while! Thank you Matt & Virgils. So glad the neighborhood has places willing to go the extra mile for a neighbor.

I went here with my family a few weeks ago, and have to say that the food was deliciously indulgent. I don’t think the chef has ever found a vegetable he couldn’t cover in cornmeal, wrap in bacon, or deep fry. But if you go in knowing that, and expecting that, you’re in for a hell of a good meal. From appetizers to desserts, everything is made in house, and everything tastes it — homemade in a good way. That being said, the fried chicken was disappointing — when everything else is so good, and this is a southern-influenced restaurant, you expect perfection in a fried bird. It was just decent. Stick to literally anything else on your menu and you can’t go wrong, though you’ll pay a high price for the privilege.

Seriously, THETOPS! Matt(head guy in charge) creates fun and amazing dishes that make you want to order one of everything. I wish there was a tasting option so that you could try a bite of all of the menu items! I would get that everytime. Definitely check this place out for brunch! Our past visit offered Spicy Chicken & Waffles… but hold on… the waffle was made of Mac&Cheese!

The dishes were a bit of a mixed bag. The Brie Pouch was amazing but the Frog Legs were just ok. Dessert was overdone on the flavors. The hush puppies were disappointing but the mushroom appetizer was delicious.
