Bleh. Couldn’t finish my food it was that bad. Dry and all around unappetizing. Lacked a lot of flavor. The cheese dip was a weird goop that wouldn’t separate from the entire mass without effort. I’d rather go to Taco Bell. Two stars because the waitress was nice and attentive. They really need to redo their food.

Found El Chico because we needed to go to the mall. Early Sunday. Need to say that it lived beyond the critiques we read. I am not one to eat velvetta cheese on my food, so I chose the carnitas tacos. They were spiced just right but most importantly not as greasy as carnitas can be. That’s a plus. Rice and beans industry standard. Wife had avocado enchiladas which contain avocado, spinach and onions. They were very good.

Back in the day a visit to El Chico was a special treat. A visit tonight found mediocre if spicy food. The queso was dissatisfyingly spicy and the presentation disappointingly lack-luster. The food quality gets good marks on freshness but the out-dated vibe and blah looking plate sucked the wind out of the potential excitement. The prices were average but not a good deal considering the overall experience. I ordered the fajita chicken chimichanga. It was well prepared with pieces of tasty if dry chicken. The GB&D crust was good and I liked the cheese in it. The retried beans and Mexican rice were up to the role but did not lift the plate to any culinary heights. The service was lackluster as well. I will not be returning here.

My wife and I just moved to Edmond and have been trying out all of the restaurants. We signed up for their email and received a free entre. Good thing we did. The food is average or below. Rice and beans are not Mexican. Much better places to try. We figured when we saw it in the mall area it was probably too Americanized. Struck out.

Picture a good chain tex-mex restaurant in your head. Now think of the dumpster behind said restaurant and you’ve got El Chico. I could go on & on about how not good this food is but I would just be kicking a dead horse, avoid.
