It is with a heavy heart that I must say goodbye to Bistro B. It looks like they’ve closed. I promised I wouldn’t cry… Now where am I supposed to go for cheap and delicious spring rolls? Someone tell me: where am I supposed to go?! Commence dramatic weeping.

Whoops, never reviewed this place! For starters… If you ever are brave enough to do the«Phở King» challenge— eat the noodles first. It’s a common mistake of rookie Phở eaters to try and tackle the broth before noodles. :) I love trying new Vietnamese restaurants because there are so many to choose in OKC. I opted for Bistro B for my third week living in OK. If you ever want to take someone to a Vietnamese restaurant, take them here. The variety is there and it’s super duper clean. I know how some people are weary of trying ethnic foods because of cleanliness so ya. Their menu is expansive and my eye’s lit up when I saw they had Banh Xeo. I ended up with a lunch special of red rice and chicken because it’s a little less messy. The red rice wasn’t exactly how I imagined it, but it was still tasty. The chicken skin was crispy and the meat was juicy. This dish comes with slices of tomato and cucumber with a side of fish sauce which was a little on the weak side for my taste buds. I also ordered spring rolls because Julie made them sound delicious of course! They are really fat, meaning filled with goodies. I can’t say they are my favorite in town, but pretty darn good. Funny-beside me, a table of 4 Vietnamese men were literally gulping down large bowls of Phở. I’m making a mental note to try that next time.

Tracy S’s review reminded me I’ve been meaning to try this. I checked it out today for a late lunch and I really was impressed. I only had spring rolls, but I’m somewhat of a spring roll expert, and they were fantastic. And there was so much FOOD. For $ 4.23 I got an iced tea and a huge serving of spring rolls. The order is technically two, but they are so large it is more like four. The peanut sauce is delish, and the service was friendly and helpful. It was a great deal and I will totally be back to try the famous phở. The location is really convenient and I’m looking forward to trying more good stuff at Bistro B. Good call, Tracy S.

Stick with the traditional Vietnamese dishes. Avoid the western influenced dishes and you’ll be golden. Bun bo hue was fantastic. Don’t forget to try the Phở King challenge. Looks like nearly three gallons of phở in a gigantic basin. The thing only costs about $ 20 if you can’t eat it all. My favorite part was watching the interaction between a young lady and a server. Young lady complained that the egg in her dish wasn’t prepared to her liking. Server explained that she didn’t specify how she wanted the egg prepared, and so they prepared it in the traditional manner, stating that egg with noodle is prepared differently from egg with rice. Later, young lady said she wasn’t going to pay for her meal. Argument ensues. Manager finally says forget it, just don’t pay and leave. But the best part was when she left and the staff reflected on the incident, ultimately arriving at the conclusion that such a young lady is a shame to her family and what irresponsible parents would have raised a child to expect a free meal for an error she made. This was all in Vietnamese and so lost to most. I got to hear it, and it was platinum.
