Kamps 1310 Lounge

I have only been here a few times. It’s nice and clean, good food and place to try out.

Pro:
1) The atmosphere is good. They’ve redone a lot of the interior and it’s nice. It’s also not pretentious (e.g., they’re not trying to pretend to be an A-​list bar in NYC).
2) The live music is pretty good.
Cons:
1) The bartenders are very slow. I arrived early, there were about 7 people at the bar, and it took 10 minutes to get a drink.
2) Related to #1, it takes forever to get your tab because they’re still technologically in the 20^th century.
3) The bartenders aren’t that great at making mixed drinks. I had the worst Jack and Coke I’ve ever had at Kamps. It was one-​fifth Jack, one-​fifth Coke, three-​fifths ice. In other words, I got an ice water with a touch of alcohol in it.
4) After I decided to switch to beer to avoid the bad mixed drink, they tried to serve me a warmer than room temperature beer «because something broke in the back.»
As a caveat to my cons: They may have just been having a bad night. I plan to go back and give it another chance. If they could fix all the relatively easy to fix cons, this would be a cool place.

Kamps Lounge has undergone some major changes in the past year, if you haven’t been there, I encourage you to venture out. There is live music every Friday and Saturday, and not the techno-​dance that Kamps was once known for — these are legitimate rock shows in an intimate atmosphere. Kamps has recently remodeled their restrooms, vamped up their cocktail and bar menu, and weekends are now 21+. These changes provide a better atmosphere and use of a great space. The place is huge! If you are hungry, the burger and the japanese po’ boy are a couple of my favorite things on the menu. The venue is non-​smoking with a patio.

Went to this bar once. Won’t be back again. Bartenders were extremely slow, forgot to make my order at one point and then took 15 minutes to close my tab. To top it off, they decided to fraudulently give themselves a tip that I didn’t leave and I had to dispute it with my bank.
