Cotixan Mexican Food

I took 20 minutes to get my order. The girl at the register is very rude. Once I finally got my food I was very disappointed with the taste. I don’t think I will be coming here again, it was a bad decision to come here in the first place

I often find myself eating here since I enjoy shopping in the Terra Nova shopping center, but after 3 strikes this taco shop has now struck out.
First strike, ordered carne asada taco and CA fries. Both had cold pre-​cooked meat. Apparently they cook the meat earlier in the day and build a little mound of carne on top of a cutting board and then just serve it up whenever anything carne is ordered. I know because I was watching the kitchen the entire time.
Second offense, requested a chicken bowl on Friday night and they told me they did not have any chicken left and I could only get carne asada or carnitas. After last time cold carne meat I was not interested and then just told them to forget about it.
The straw that broke the camel back, came again just a few days ago and again they refused to make a chicken bowl by stating that there was no more chicken. I laughed and said so I cannot order pollo asado burrito nor a pollo asado taco either? They said no because there was no chicken to cook.
How does a taco shop stay open when half of their menu is chicken and all they ever have to cook is carne asada or carnitas and that’s it?
I’m done, I won’t be coming back. I can’t take the stupidity from this place no longer and the denial of service.

Probably my favorite California Burrito in the area! And all of the cashiers I have met at this location are very friendly.

We’re new huge fans of this place! We were skeptical before bc it seems dark from outside but every time I go there’s someone cleaning. They have our favorite carne asada fries with a great a balance of toppings. The workers are friendly, although not very talkative.

I came here today for lunch and was able to place my order within 2 minutes of walking in here. I figured our food would be ready soon. We waited close to 20 minutes for our food… The cashier woman was not very friendly. Not once did she smile, and when she handed me back my card and receipt I was never told «Thank you» or «Your order will be ready soon». Nothing.
Once we got our food, 2 orders or carne asada fries and a drink, I was happy to see the large portions they have. After taking my first bite though, I was even more disappointed. The food was tasteless, we had to drench it in salsa just to taste something.
I don’t know what is more «BLAH», the woman at the cash register or the food.

Came here for the first time today! Got my food to go. Very disappointed! I ordered a surf and turf I ate half it had one shrimp and some of the Asada was burnt! I couldn’t even finish it! I will never go to this place again!

I live up the hill from this place and always see it when on walks with the family. I was finally able to come tonight and it was alright.
I will start with the negatives unfortunately:
— 1 star off for the service. The food came out in a timely manner, but boy was the cashier grumpy. She didn’t crack a smile once and it came across to me like I was inconveniencing her in being there.
— The restaurant itself was very dirty. When I walked in, I noticed a good amount of the tables to be dirty with food and the tables themselves in bad shape. I ended up eating outside.
Now to the good part, the food.
— I ordered some carne asada fries and the fries were well made! I get carne asada fries everywhere I go and usually they are over done and dry. These were perfectly textured and browned. Nicely done.
— They had a good mixture between meat, fries and sauces. Usually you get too little of one of those but these were perfect.
— The size was a fair amount for the price. I pay usually over $ 10 at Lolita’s, so it was nice to have it under that amount.
Overall it was nice to find out that the food is pretty good at this location. I’ll have to give the service another chance to redeem themselves next time I go.

First time here… It’s not visible from the Main Street. But talking about the food. We got the mini tacos special, carne asasada … It was today’s special «Tuesday»

Salsa was not my favorite but over all it was good

A bit hidden, and there are two entrances on both sides of the building (odd). I only got a cali burrito but it was good, nothing to holler about though. The sauces they have are of the normal kind, red and green. Service was average, speed was average, it was just a normal mexican taco shop.
If you’re looking for «round the clock» cali burritos, carne asada burritos/​fries/​chips, this place will suffice, nothing wrong here. Next time I am in the area and I’m craving, this will be the first spot that comes to mind.

Never again would I eat here again. Food has no flavor and the place is dirty. Have a look around before you order.

One of the worst taco shops I’ve ever eaten at. Food taste overcooked. Service is slow. The place itself is dirty. The sauces they have available are laughable. Avoid this place.

I still go to this taco shop because it is a hit or miss. Sometimes the cashiers are super nice and the food is great. Sometimes the cashiers will talk trash right in front of you but think you don’t understand because they are speaking Spanish. Sometimes the food is burnt.
My advice is to go during the day when the cashiers seem to be more nice and ALWAYS check you food before you leave to see if it is burnt or not.

Carne Asada fries are excellent up to the 4^th bite. Then it’s a mission trying to find any meat left in the plate. (Small personal size).
Now horchata waters are not refillable as before. That costs about a buck for refill.

Avoid this taco shop if you value your health. We went into Cotixan last week. We sat down at one of the tables while we waited for our food and saw dust and grease caked on the ceiling fan and grates as well as in all the door frames. My wife got ice from the soda machine and it smelled moldy.
When the food finally arrived it was greasy and bland.
With so many amazing options for Mexican food in the area DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY here!

I don’t typically write bad reviews but this one deserves to be written. The food here is not what I remember from 10 years ago when it was the best taco shop on East H in Chula Vista. I initially ordered a Chicken salad off of their «light» menu 15 minutes later the cashier returns to tell me «We’re out of salad» oh-​ok I reply… Then I notice a sign that says any burrito can be made into a bowl. Sounds good to me. This chicken bowl looks dang near identical to the salad, so I asked Cani have a chicken bowl? She said «Sure» um ok… I reply. My next question was Well do you have lettuce? Yes she says. Smh at this point. Ok chicken bowl it is. My bf ordered a chicken veggie plate 15 minutes prior… You remember when I initially ordered that salad they didn’t have. Ok the clock is ticking. Another 15 minutes rolls by, by this point 6 different customers have came & gone ironically enough all have ordered bean & cheese burritos. While my bf & I are sitting waiting for our food we notice the cook continuously warming stuff up in microwave & keeps looking @ us all suspect. What’s her problem? Oh we get it? Our food was frozen, not fresh! Which makes this whole situation even worst We’ve waited almost 45 minutes for a To-​Go order of 2 items that were FROZEN! Needless to say food was boring & we were damn near falling asleep. What have we learned here??? Only order Bean & Cheese burritos from here, THE END.

Came here for Taco Tuesday. Mini Tacos are only 99cents (carne asada $ 1.25). The marinade of their carne asada is tasty and their meat is really soft. Salsa bar included and fountain drink refills are FREE. (Horchata is included as a fountain drink.) They also offer beer at this location. I qas quite impressed too for the chef came around to give us free Banuelos (tortilla chips with cinnamon and sugar) and to personally ask how we liked the food. There is parking both in front and at the back of the shop. (Entrances on both sides.)

Located in a mall area off of the H Street I-​805 exit, this place has always been known to me as the over-​pourer of sour cream on their Carne Asada Fries. It’s funny because though I appreciate the generosity on the fries, I discovered that an extra buck is charged for any sour cream on their California Burritos.
When I came in, I noticed that they offer a California Burrito with bacon, so I tried it out. I didn’t realize sour cream and guacamole weren’t included, so I had to go back to the register and request with the additional price. The bacon was crispy but actually quite salty, so the sour cream and guac helped to somewhat neutralize it. ‘Twas hard to finish, though.
The next time I crave a burrito, I’ll probably go elsewhere.

I found a Fly in my menudo today. The manager didn’t say anything just gave my money back … Poor service unsanitary kitchen This place or dump gets poor reviews and theres a reason behind it that u may have to pay attention to

This is about the 4^th or 5^th time I have to cancel my order due to lack of hygiene, tonight I was watching the cooks talk in the back, one was scrubbing floors the other one (Martin) was scratching his head. After I placed my order Martin goes and grabs the tortillas for my tacos without washing his hands.
I ask Him to wash his hands and he got all upset, really I don’t want him touchingly food with his nasty hands, this is what they do when we’re watching them, imagine what they do when we don watch them.
Don’t try to call the 1866 Cotixan number cuz nobody answers and the voicemail is not set up yet. I have called 5 or 6 times.

I had a good and out of the ordinary grilled chicken salad from here. I say so, because it is not on the norm that I got to a taco shop for a salad, but I did. However, I did cheat and ordered a side of three rolled tacos with guacamole and cheese as well. Shhhh…
First of all, the salad was large and came with a pile of fresh greens, bell peppers, and tomatoes, (
) but the amount of chicken was less then I imagined. On the good side, the chicken was well cooked, could of used some more seasoning, and was tender. I liked the fact that they included a good amount of grated salty strong flavored cotija cheese. (
) The cheese had a nice aggressive flavor and added a nice saltiness to the whole salad. A good salad, but it needed more protein.
The rolled tacos were pretty good too, and arrived with a moderate of mildly flavored guacamole, a lot of shredded lettuce, and some of that great Cotija cheese. (
) The shredded beef inside came with a good amount, was tender, and mild in flavor. (
) I liked eating the rolls with their red hot sauce from the salsa bar. (
) It was a little spicy and had good flavor. Good rolled tacos.
Overall a good grilled chicken salad and some pretty good rolled tacos. The salad was $ 4.99 and the rolls $ 3.55. A weird price, but that’s what it was.
