I’ve been going to Dr. Davis for the past 10 years and absolutely love her. She is caring, skilled and willing to go the extra mile to make sure your prescription is the best for you. As a senior now, my prescription has changed over the years from contacts, to bifocals, to trifocals. Many times I tried no line through other optometrists unsuccessfully. Then I met Dr. Davis. It took several years and multiple tries for my eyes to adjust from trifocals to no-​line graduated lenses due to so many eye surgeries but Dr. Davis got me there with patience and kindness. I have a difficult prescription to determine and fill. Although it is a little more expensive to purchase glasses here, the quality of the lense materials option (which makes a huge difference in the clarity of vision) is very high and accurate and the prescription is always right and that is the important thing. I’ve had a remake or two over the years but always with courtesy. I’ve tried to save a dollar elsewhere and had to go back as many at 8 times and the prescription still wasn’t right. Your vision is one area not to scrimp and the thorough exam Dr. Davis provides and final product is well worth the cost. Don’t let the downer reviews here influence you. There is no substitute for skill and quality. So what if the front desk could give out a few more hugs. I’ve been there when outrageous behavior from customers make me want to give them a good sit-​down.

Dr. Davis is nice HOWEVER, they are ridiculously over priced for glasses that are not even name brand. I ended up paying an arm and a leg for a pair of children’s glasses AND I have really good insurance. Not only did they over charge me for a pair of so-​so glasses for my daughter who is only 8, but they recommended the wrong size. It hasn’t even been a year yet and they are too small and too tight. They should have never let us walk out with glasses that were not sized properly. They kept insisting it was okay and I kept thinking to myself, these do look a little snug, but what do I know? I’m not an eye specialist. Not to mention the fact that the guy who apparently is her husband is like a pushy car salesman. He kept trying to get me to purchase a pair of prescription sunglasses for myself when I didn’t need it. I don’t even wear glasses on a regular basis, just for reading. I don’t even wear them then either… why would I need prescription sunglasses? Her husband should just stay at home and fix stuff around the house or mow the lawn instead of running the business for her.

The Doctor was Ok. I shouldn’t even say ok after she called me obese and offered me her weight loss program. I thought I was there for and eye exam?! It’s all about business trying to take your money one way or another. The front desk «help» is rude and has very poor manners. One: the front guy with the glasses told the other older front lady not I show me the brand name frames because they cost too much. I don’t know what he assumed in his little brain. Two: the older lady accused my kids and I of taking a frame! She literally ran after us and stopped us for that. I had asked for the prescription so I could buy them some where else because I didn’t like their frames that they had there because they were UGLY and because they don’t have a lot of variety for kids. Helloooooo lady what makes you think I wanted to steal them?! So I went back and followed her and she said «Nevermind I found them you just misplaced them» I gave her the dirtiest look ever. I had no words I was ANGRY and walked away before I went off on her. You don’t go around accusing people because you assumed. I will never again will go there. Problem solved. :-)

Dr. Davis is amazing, but her employees are absolutely rude. Young man working behind glasses counter is condescending and patronizing. Took it upon himself to give advice and determine that «100 dollars is not worth» complaining about.
If you buy glasses here that are not correct and/​or don’t work he stated that, «It doesn’t matter. If you ordered them and 5 minutes after you ordered them you don’t want them we will not give you a refund.» Continued to patronize the customers. Went on to call me a «moron» and an «idiot» because I couldn’t «understand» that it was a waste of time to ask about glasses that didn’t work. Also, stated that it was not the optometrist’s problem if «your eyes don’t adjust to the glasses.»
Final bizarre straw was he then went on to say that I was «harassing the employees» and after I asked to speak to Dr. Davis he went on to say, «She doesn’t give a sh*t.» This seems odd to me. She seems so caring and supportive in the eye exam. After I asked him if he was serious about how rude he was he then made it a point to say that he would call the police. Such a vile tactic.
Overall, if Dr. Davis didn’t maintain such a poor employee, I would continue to be a customer, but as he so childishly told me, «We don’t need you as a customer.»

I visited Dr. Davis’ office in Chula Vista. The male receptionist was rude and did not help. After I was seen by the Dr. I was told how much everything was going to be, over $ 300. When I said forget it, he then tells me I wouldn’t be able to see any other Dr. for the rest of the year through my insurance, something he did not mention before the exam. A few months after my exam I opened up a new pair of contacts and one of them was defective. When I called to ask how I could replace the defective one I was told I’d have to buy a box of 6 for $ 50. The prices are outrageous and they do not have good costumer service.

I’ve been to two or three optometrists and Dr. Davis is by far my favorite. She’s great at finding your right prescription and not over prescribing. I find that she does very holistic examinations and gives great advice. She knew I had high cholesterol and gave me a sample of vitamins to help get rid of the cholesterol in my eye. Dr. Davis also told me that I was building scar tissue because of UV sun exposure and recommended that I diligently wear sunglasses with UV protection; prolonged exposure could lead to blindness. She even asked if I had enough contacts because being a new mom I wouldn’t be able to wear my glasses for long without the baby pulling them off — she really does offer a personalized experience.
I agree with the previous posts about there not being a lot of frame selection. I’ve never had any issues with out-​of-​pocket costs. If you ask what your expense will be before you go into the appointment you’ll know what you’re getting yourself into. They key is to make sure your insurance is accepted. Her staff have always been helpful and straightforward and I’ve never once felt misled or cheated. I’ve always experienced impeccable customer service both by phone and in person which is part of the reason I keep going back.

Wouldn’t give me a copy of a previous prescription, sorry if I wanted to get my contacts overseas and never deal with you guys again but there’s a reason why I go to Bonita Point Optometrist now instead of going here. Good riddance.

Dr. Davis was thorough with my exam, even giving me a progress evaluation to make sure my contacts were the right strength and fit for me. The office is clean and the equipment is state of the art. The staff is nice and knowledgable and Dr. Davis was able to answer my questions and have me seeing in HIGH DEFINITION again!!! I am SO PLEASED with my experience!

Terrible!!! Do not go there unless you enjoy mediocre and overpriced service. Not to mention a sub-​standard selection of frames. It’s such a long story… but in short. Ask questions because the Doctor does quicky-​exams and doesn’t seem like she cares much about anything (I’ve gone to many, many optometrist before, and she was BARELY CAPABLE). The front desk is rude, inept and slow. Their prices are ridiculous, and the frames look like they are out of a 70’s horror film. Do not go here if you are looking for efficient service. There are so many better options right around the corner… good luck! and be thankful you read this, I saved you from a terribly frustrating and pedestrian experience. Shame on them!!! I would give them a –5 stars if I could. BAD, BAD, BAD!
