This is a breakfast place. They serve breakfast food. Eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. are not that hard to cook if you have a kitchen ready for it. That’s about all Yolk has going for it. This location in Northwest Station sucks because it’s near nothing and parking blows every day of the week, even on Sundays. Food is fine. They serve no liquor which is lame. Nothing special to see here.

First time here and it won’t be our last… Decided to try something new from the diners my husband and I have went to before… Absolutely delicious! Thanks Yolk!

The service was excellent even though the place was crowded with the NYE morning crowd. The food was amazing and all reasonably priced based on the high quality and large portions. Defiantly coming back!

Have you ever walked into a place, had a great meal, and then realize you can’t really love the diner your in? I want to rate this place higher because the food is good. The ambiance is really cozy for a brunch restaurant in the Loop, and I’ve had multiple items on their menu that are really good. What makes me rate lower is the staff… and usually that’s not something I rate too heavily on; however, there are 2 or 3 people who work at Yolk downtown that are just blatantly rude and completely unprofessional that it just gives me a bad taste in my mouth every time I leave Yolk. When I go somewhere, I’m pretty low maintenance. I don’t have any allergies or meal restrictions. I don’t try to make any changes to menu items. I don’t require a lot of attention at all when I’m dining anywhere. Bring me a drink and the food promptly and I’m all good. So, it always baffles me when I go somewhere and I’m being completely pleasant and respectful but the staff I’m talking with is just being flat out rude and disrespectful. I’ve had that happen multiple times with waiters at Yolk and with the Hostess. So, yes, food is good. Nice place overall, but if you’re someone who needs good staff in order to enjoy an experience… then this place is definitely not for you.

My friends and I met here on a Saturday at 11:30AM. There was no wait for us. I order the Yolk All-Star Breakfast with scrambled eggs and berry French toast. It was absolutely delicious. I recommend asking them to give you warm syrup.

Went for breakfast today around 11am and we were seated right away. Service was quick too. I ordered the winter special, sweet potato hash, and my friend created her own skillet. I love sweet potato and the waitress suggested it as she said people have been ordering it like crazy. Definitely recommend as an easy delicious brunch place. My only complaint is they don’t have any non dairy milk/creamer for coffee, other than that no complaints.

A better version of IHOP: large, standard breakfasts delivered quickly and with a everyone-is-rushed atmosphere. Tastes well and the prices are fantastic(except for the coffee, you will not be here long enough to get a refill).

Huge portions, long lines during lunches, in a shopping mall. Pretty standard I would say and the food is just that. The service is fast which makes a good lunch spot, but there’s nothing really to rave about. I would say this is in par with a Denny’s or IHOP, maybe a dash bit better in terms of atmosphere, but who cares when all you want are good eggs with some eggs, and eggs on the side right?

Yolk was recommended by a friend for our visit in Chicago. It was a 6 minutes walking distance from our hotel so we arrived a little bit after they opened at 6AM. The décor inside was very cute and lights were very lit. The staffs we encountered were very nice and polite. I started off with a nice strawberry lemonade while my fiancé had a freshly squeeze strawberry orange juice. I had their chicken and waffle top with an over easy egg, the yolk with the gravy was just bomb!!! My fiancé got the red velvet french toast which was also really good; he finished his plate! For the portion size the price is extremely reasonable. I will definitely be back when I visit.

We stopped in for lunch and had an enjoyable meal. Décor: It’s a pretty standard breakfast/lunch spot and is nicely located in the CitiCenter. There are a bunch of tables, for any size group, and the window-walls provide great amounts of natural light. We sat in a booth, in the back, and despite worrying that we wouldn’t be seen there were no issues at all. Bathroom: Standard, clean, got the job done. Staff: Our waiter was quick and friendly, even though it seemed like he had a bunch of tables. And our food was prepared quite rapidly. Food: We kept things pretty simple with a Citrus Blast salad(very tasty) and a club sandwich(nicely sized and delicious). The food came out tasting great and very fresh and the serving sizes were very ample! Value: The prices are right where you’d expect at a place like this, you won’t break your wallet but you won’t feel like you stole from the place either. We are fans of Yolk, both this location and others, and will probably return in the future.

This review is for a Yolk breakfast we ordered through GrubHub. I never post reviews, but due to the horrible experience I had with this place I felt compelled to leave a review. We ordered the all-star breakfast, and we chose to have chocolate chip pancakes as a side. When we received our order, the chocolate chip pancakes were packed in the same container as the eggs, sausage, and bacon. Please note that the pancakes are very large, and the container they use to pack the food is definitely not big enough to carry eggs, sausages, bacon strips, pancakes, and maple syrup. The pancakes looked like they were made in a rush, because instead of the chocolate chips being INSIDE the pancake, most of them were just smeared on top. The eggs, sausages, and bacon had chocolate on them, and so did the whole maple syrup container. See the attached photo. In addition to all of that, our food was cold and soggy. We called Yolk to complain and the manager was incredibly rude, saying that if we wanted the pancakes to be packed separately then we should have asked. This is ridiculous, because when we ordered from them last time, our pancakes were packed separately as that is what anybody with common sense would do. She didn’t even offer to replace our order and didn’t want to issue a refund. We called GrubHub to complain and they called the restaurant. The lady from GrubHub told us that Yolk wanted to replace our food. We refused, because after the manager of the restaurant being incredibly rude to us, we didn’t want to give them our money. She put me on hold again and spoke to Yolk once more, and she told me that they didn’t want to issue a refund. GrubHub is amazing, so they refunded us themselves. The lady from GrubHub told me that I should never order from Yolk again, as they were not nice to them either and have very bad customer service. Just drive on over to Wildberry. They are absolutely amazing over there and the food is 100x better.

I had the lemon poppy seed/blueberry French toast here, and it was absolutely amazing — not too sweet, very fluffy and a perfect portion size(maybe a little bit on the small size if you’re a bigger eater than me?). Service was very friendly, and we were seated quickly even though it was packed. Overall, so great, and such a great location!

Came here for brunch. The service was really quick, but the food was okay. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Came with three pieces of chicken tenders with a bacon filled waffle and gravy on top. The waffle wasn’t as crispy and could’ve used an extra 3 – 5 minutes. The chicken was good, but would’ve preferred a big cut of breast/thigh versus tenders. My wife ordered the croque madam, which she enjoyed. Turkey & ham smothered in between two slices of French toast. We were both stuffed and reasonably priced. Would order something else if I came back.

Meh. I’ve experienced better. I ordered the All-Star breakfast — 2 eggs(the way you like it), 2 sausage links, 2 bacon strips, and your choice of either 2 pancakes, 2 slices of french toast, 2 crepes, or a half waffle. The eggs were cooked OK, but the bacon had a lot of fat to it. Overall, for $ 14, I expected to be a lot more full, but was easily able to finish the meal.

Seriously one of the best breakfast spots I’ve been to in a while! I loved the modern feel of this place. It’s family friendly, and the service is fantastic. There’s a ton of items to choose from on their menu. We went with the El Torero Scrambler and the Huevos Rancheros. Both were were AMAZING, and served with a side of fresh fruit. And I’m not talking«filler fruits» that nobody likes, they actually provided the good stuff: watermelon, pineapple, grapes and oranges! The portion sizes were HUGE too. We each only ate about half of what was on our plate… so you could probably even share a dish. Plus, their coffee at Yolk was really great! I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a yummy and hearty breakfast.

I have tried eating at Yolk many times in the past;however, was never able to do so due to the long wait. My boyfriend and I decided to try this location and are so happy we did! Arrived around noon on Sunday and there was no wait at all. I would highly suggest coming to this location considering it’s a little hidden in the train station and less of a crowd. The food was excellent. I had two scrambled eggs, fluffy pancakes, and fresh fruit. Prices were higher for breakfast but our service was superior and so was our food. I can’t wait until the next time I’m back in the city and can go back to Yolk!

If you love brunch food this place is a good place to go. It’s a bit pricey compared to other brunch places I’ve went to but they do give a good amount of food. I had the Irish Benny($ 11.49) and it was ok. The corn beef hash over powered everything else. It was still good and if you love corn beef hash then get this because they give you a lot of it. The only negative I had with this is that the fruit seemed like it was just thrown on the side and I personally don’t like my fruits touching my meal. My husband had the Tour de France, three different flavor French toast. It included a banana nut topped with bananas and a side of peanut butter.(This was our favorite one). Next was an orange flavor, sweet, topped with strawberries with a side of orange marmalade, tart.(This was our least favorite). Lastly a poppy seed toast topped with blueberries with a side of maple syrup. This reminded us of a poppy seed muffin. All in all it was good. We didn’t wait too long and the customer service was excellent. This place is a must try if you are in Chicago.

I am so excited, I’ve found another great place for breakfast that is within walking distance of my hotel and meeting location. I’m an early riser and Yolk opens early, so we’re a perfect match. I arrived shortly after opening and was promptly seated by one of the hostess. My waitress was friendly and quick to bring my morning coffee. As I glanced over the menu, I was shocked to see their omelets are made with 5 eggs. I can barely finish an omelet made with 3 eggs, so I knew immediately knew to look at other entrees. I choose two eggs scrambled with link sausage, which came with red potatoes and a short stack of pancakes. My eggs were fluffy and I was surprised that I got three huge links of sausage. The diced red potatoes, were a crispy and a nice change to the typical hash browns side. My pancakes were plump and fluffy, and waiting for a smear of butter and hot maple syrup. The servings were large enough to feed a hungry man. The Yolk filled up fast with other diners and you could tell how they were greeted, that they were regulars. As it got busier, my waitress still remained attentive to my table. My only negative about Yolk is the yellow décor, I felt like I was inside a Yolk.

My friends and I came here for brunch after we ran the hot chocolate 5k/15k. We purposely came to eat here to avoid the big runners crowd who would be eating at brunch places closer to the race area. There were 10 of us. unfortunately this Yolk can’t seat us altogether in one table so we had to split. There were 6 of us in one table and 4 in the other. It was pretty crowded for a Sunday morning which we found surprising since this is in the business district of downtown so we thought most people wouldn’t be in this area on the weekend. I ordered the egg florentine and my husband ordered the pot roast benedict. He also ordered the soup which was pumpkin and apple… none of us really liked the soup. My florentine was good. my husband enjoyed his benedict as well. Our other friends seem to enjoy their food as well. Nothing was wrong with this place — tasty brunch and it wasn’t too hard to get seated with no reservation.
