The customer service was excellent, they were welcoming from the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out!

One of the best Potbelly shops I have visited. Usually get a big wreck on wheat with everything on it. Ice cream sandwich is also great!

I grew up two blocks from the original location and I just want to say that franchising the greatest sandwich shop in Chicago has ruined there customer service completely. I went there everyday for high school lunch and have recommended it to everyone I have ever known. But, that has all changed. Don’t order over the web. Don’t call in an order. They either mess it up or don’t actually deliver the food. Then they have the nerve to call and tell you they messed up but will doing nothing about it. I think they just killed customer service. It’s even funnier because I make my living in the industry. So sad to see a Chicago institution be ruined so badly. I believe today marks the day that I cease my relationship with them. Thank you for all the memories. Sorry your manager had such a bad attitude. She actually blamed me for there incompetence. My delivery driver forgot your food so it won’t be coming at the time we said. In fact it won’t be coming at all because She was incredible rude on the phone. So I canceled the order and will never order from them again. I hope your corporate office reads Unilocal.545 w Madison in Chicago if anyone cares.

Came here on the recommendation of my wife. We ordered a sandwich and soda each and was able to eat for $ 16. Staff was friendly and food was prepared as requested. However, I didn’t find the sandwich savory compared to something like Penn Station. I also felt like the roast beef lacked the darkness that roast beef does. Looked more like roasted pork. Not sure I would recommend this place compared to other sandwich shops.

Told the preparer no mayo, no mustard, no oil, everything else. I got just the basic sandwich. And long line with sandwiches literally backing up like a sitcom episode.

This place makes really good sandwiches. They have a great atmosphere and the service was pretty good as well. I didn’t even realize it was across from the station and I’m glad that I did find it.

Solid food and malts, but delivery sucks. I suggest whoever is running this location order up a sub from a nearby jimmy johns. Hire more people… it shouldn’t take more than a half hour to delivery some sandwiches and chips. If it didn’t take an hour and 15 to get my food, I guarantee i’d order more often.

Last time I come in the place. Not that busy at all while putting my salad order in…(ordered a sandwhich as well), never order a salad mind you. So they shout it down the line, I get down to the salad sataion… no one is there, the person that prepared my sandwhich, only asks what’s on the sandwhich, not if there’s anything else I ordered. I suspect since no one is at the salad station and I was just handed my sandwhich, my salad is at the register — I get down there, no salad… the woman asks me if I «called it in»…uhm, well no, your employee did, she says«see you have to stand at the salad station and tell them what you want, what you want in your salad»…really? okay… why am I now getting this information while paying? The employees, weren’t so rude as much as they were extrememly disintereted in helping people, and bored out of their minds. Fine, alot of us don’t like our jobs, but if you can’t bother to ask the customer the simply phrase of «anything else?»…maybe the service industry is not for you– especially when someone is hungry. I can’t really blame the employees they must be trained by the managers, and if they are a true reflection of their training, then the management must not care, and I don’t either, which is why this PB’s blows, I wouldn’t give them squat, and I urge whoever is reading this to avoid this store.

It’s everything you’d expect. A bit crowded during busy lunchtimes, but otherwise OK.

I’ve been to several Potbelly locations and this one is the largest. They have your standard sandwiches, Your standard antique/kitschy décor etc. The people-watching, however, was superb. I saw a man walk through the door with a giant fishing pole and order a sandwich. Where are you fishing, sir? The Chicago river? The service was, in my mind, exceptionally fast in this location. It’s a good thing, too. It was lunch time in an area full of hungry office workers and I made it through the line in roughly 5 – 10 minutes. I’d go there again without a doubt.

My wife and I eat here on a regular basis for lunch during the week. The service is prompt, employee nice, and quality of food above par. I like the ‘live hippy music’ they bring in on occasion, as it helps to solidify the ‘hippy’ brand associated with Potbelly overall. I do wish that they would continue with this dogmatic approach and implement a recycling program, for much of what is thrown in the garbage, could be sent out for processing.

Every time we visit the Lyric Opera of Chicago to see a opera(Went almost 5 times last season), we stop here. We grab our usual sandwichs and eat fast. Invariability, we make it to the Opera house with very little time as buffer. But before leaving Potbelly, we grab a Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie and save it… until Intermission, and we savor the cookie.

As usually the staff was very friendly and efficient at this location and most PB locations. New Farmhouse Salad although on the heavy side for a salad, especially with the buttermilk ranch dressing, is awesome and makes amends for previous transgressions. I got it without chicken which a) makes it about a $ 1 or so cheaper and b) I think added to the flavor because unless the chicken was cooked 5 mins. ago I feel like it always ends up being dry and lacking flavor no matter where you get it from and especially at a fastfood place. We are back in business for sure.

Oven-toasted sandwiches, better prices and quality than Quizno’s. The chocolate chip oatmeal cookies are spectacular and soft-baked. Well worth the trip on their own, and only $ 1.09 before tax. The milkshakes are pretty good too. This Potbelly’s location opened about a year ago. And not a moment too soon. For a few months there, there were only two Potbelly’s within two blocks of my office. This location is a lot like the others. It has a nice patio area just a few yards from the canal, but the outdoor dining is a bit better at the Adams street location, which has tables right beside the fence over the canal.
