The USO is definitely worth checking out if you have a lengthy layover at MDW. Military personnel and their families have been afforded this cozy bunker in Concourse C. The C Concourse is somewhat quieter than the adjacent A and B Concourses and is the perfect spot for the USO since it’s a little off the beaten path. Although it doesn’t seem like much at first glance, the USO serves a vital function. It can mean a lot to a tired soldier to be able to enjoy fresh fruit, coffee, and a sandwich where the only other option is overpriced airport food in a noisy, crowded concourse. I saw some very tired soldiers resting, while others were recharging electronics or enjoying complimentary refreshments while catching up on MSNBC or just zoning out. No restroom inside but the restrooms right around the corner are super clean with full length stall doors in a relatively low traffic area. The USO is funded via donations and is a very worthy cause. Kudos to all the generous donors who make the USO possible!
