Great little place for a show, Not a huge fan of the bar atmosphere. a little too Dark and not quite a dance club from what I have experienced.

I am glad to see a venue like this in the hood. The sometimes have some pretty compelling lineups, and an ok beer selection. Good DJ, decent patio if a little parking-lot-y. On the minus, the covers for the bands are a bit steep and the DJ room is absurdly loud. I like loud music as much as the next guy, but if you are in there rather than the band room chances are it is to talk with someone. Something about the venue comes across as trying too hard. I would not be real shocked if it was the same Tini Martini owners with a different«theme». It’s not as if it is all bad though. I think if they can bake it a little more it can be a decent venue for up and comers. Just not for 10 bucks a pop for local acts, I mean come on.

Ultra Lounge isn’t the type of place I think of when looking for when I think of kicking back and having a few drinks with friends. Me + hanging skulls + punk music = not so much. However, this little punk/metal music venue + bar wasn’t so bad. Yes, the music was definitely loud(and definitely punk or really hard rock) but there was a laid back vibe, great drink specials, and friendly bartenders. Although there’s no cover to get into the bar area, be prepared to spend a few bucks if you’re headed there to see whatever band is playing. Overall — Ultra Lounge isn’t quite my scene. But the drinks were good. The people were cool. And you have the option to see live music. Would I go back? Eh — I wouldn’t rush there, but if I were in the area I wouldn’t be opposed to stopping in for a drink.

Yeah, this place pretty much just kicks ass all around. Super nice doorstaff, cool bartenders, good music, different types of music in the downstairs and sideroom. Cool outdoor smoking area and a pool table. What else do you need in a bar? In my top 5 bar choices in Chicago fo shiza.

Cool punk rock club. Great to see another live music place in the neighborhood. Went there last night on a Thursday and no cover for the two bands which were good. Maybe the owners have read some of the other posts about a cover charge during the week. I agree that they need to turn down the DJ, most people in that room that are not watching the bands want to be able to have a conversation. I will be back.

It is very small. The bathroom is gross. Bars are not my thing, but I just wanted to note that the DJ side as much too loud. It hurt my ears after 15 minutes. There was also a live band playing next door, it was kinda neat looking at that, but the music blended somewhat, not that either was exceptionally good for me to care. The sound quality from loudness isn’t always low, but in this case it is. It was scratchy and the sound system is terrible, not unlike other places though. Not that different from other bars, but it is much louder and smaller. If you like small and loud then this is your place, and its very close the the Western blue line.

Interesting little music venue in Logan Square. Parking can be difficult to find as there is no parking behind the building itself. It is reserved for a place next door. However, it is near the Blue Line, but the California stop nearby looks a little shady. There’s no cover, however, I had to pay $ 8 to see three local bands play. They checked my ID at the door, then I was told to go to the table near the doors that lead into the show room in order to get my wristband. I waited and waited and no one was there. Kept looking around for someone. Finally I just decided to go through the doors to see if I could find someone, not that I really wanted to pay $ 8 dollars. Of course, as soon as I do that, the door man dude says to follow him to get my wristband. So I paid and he gave me my wristband and I was back in the show. I stood near those doors for the majority of a set and the doorman was not paying attention to anyone that wanted to come in and out. He was just on Facebook all night. Whatever. The show room is pretty small, so the music ends up being very loud. You can actually hear better if you’re just outside of the room. They also have a good beer menu. Of course you can get the Logan Square special of PBR and a shot of Jameson for $ 5, but I like good beer so I had a bottle of La Fin DuMonde, which was very high in alcohol content but still very good. They also have some Robert the Bruce, Ranger IPA, Centennial IPA, and some other crafts. They also have your standard domestics, imports, and liquors. People are able to come in and out via the back door, which can be problematic for bands who need to stay there and watch their equipment. There is also an outside smoking tent for those that need their fix. Overall, it’s a decent venue for local bands, but not a place I would go to if I didn’t have to.

Very cool that they turned this place from weird Latin club to an awesome little venue for punk & metal shows! I love the large outdoor area to get some air when its gets to hot and/or crowded

I like this place. Most importantly you have three major parts to it. A bar /stage area intended for intimate crowds which are more times than many the best shows you can possibly experience. A bar/area with a dj that spins mostly rock n roll, metal, and punk rock and a pretty wide open outdoor seating area. The beer prices are pretty normal bar prices and the area is on and off with parking(depending if the congress theater has a big event going on.) but I always look forward to band I know that is playing or a low key to kick it while listening to good tunes.

There are two rooms, each with a bar. There’s «no cover» but if you want to get in the room where bands play, then it’s $ 8. This is pretty ridiculously high it seems like there are only ever 10 – 15 people there to see bands(if that many). It sucks for the bands, because they don’t get to play to a new audience– they’re only playing to their friends who are willing to pay the price(and haul their asses out to this place). They have alright specials, if you like PBR and well shots($ 5). The patio in back is huge and a great palce to sit around with friends. Come winter, I won’t enjoy sitting around inside. In the regular bar area, they play music loud enough to compete with the bands in the next room. Good luck ever having a conversation. Also, it will say Tini Martini on your credit card.

Ultra Lounge is well… the ultra spot. I like bars that have a lot going on in one place. Ultra has a main bar area, a stage room for gigs, an outdoor patio on which you can smoke and they sell hot dogs. Yeah, I love the variety when I’m here. It doesn’t look like much from the outside and you probably expect it to be lame seeing as it was once called Tini Martini, but it’s a little haven for punkers and weirdos – which is great.

$ 8 to get in the door on a Wednesday? Really, guys? On a typical weeknight, you’re not getting more than 20 people in the door, and all of them are the friends of people in the bands. So you’re using our good will and love of our friends against us. It doesn’t make me love you, Ultra. I know I will go here again(probably once every eight weeks or so) to see friends’ bands. So, whether I like it or not, you will continue to take $ 8 from me once every couple of months when somebody I know plays a show here. But, this is not a good way to grow beyond getting 20 people in the door. Here’s your problem, Ultra. You’re booking unknown bands, who can only get so many friends to come out on a weeknight. If you want more than 20 people at any given show, you need strangers who like to check out new local music — folks like me – to come out. At this $ 8 price point, it ain’t gonna happen. So, instead of becoming a fun, vibrant, exciting place to experience interesting new local music, you’re becoming an uncool, out-of-touch place where friends and fans feel ripped off. Another gripe: having an ear splitting DJ playing metal to precisely no one in the room next door while my friends’ band plays is uncool.(Especially when I just paid $ 8 to see ‘em.) Actually, this might be even lousier than your wicked high cover. Even though I think there’s so much that’s bad about this place, there are many worse venues. Really, this is a pretty good room for a show. The sound system is loud; the space is nice enough; the Logan Square location is pretty good; and the sound guy does an above-average job. Ultra has potential and could be really cool! But it should rethink its business model.

Nice place with nice people, good varying music. Djs are great, bands that come in are great, and staff is pleasant.

The return of the dirty rock club. .. like it ever left. Extremely dark, appropriately scantily clad bartenders, somewhat limited selection of booze, skewing towards whisky and PBR. Specials. Live music. Sexy crowd. Somewhat loud. Attitude. Have I mentioned a sexy crowd? Very. Always appealing. Terrible location, though — but near transit, so that’s a plus.

I’ve gone here a couple of times & have always had a blast. Pretty good drink specials. I was there on a Thursday to watch a friends band play and ended up staying all night. The DJ’s in the bar were good and I’d definitely go back again.
