The Original Mama Mia’s

Both times I’ve visited, the staff and manager/​owner were surprisingly discourteous as though they somehow resent having to speak to or serve their customers. The pizza, itself, is rather bland and is easily inferior to the food from other pizza places nearby, including Dominos! Save your money and eat elsewhere.

Stumbled upon this late night gem tonight. Good food and great service! John was super helpful when ordering and helped us pick the best pizza for our group. Check it out, they are open late and deliver!

Love the pizza here. I usually get sausage and pepperoni. They’re not skimpy with the ingredients! I also love the cheesy curly fries. They’re addicting. The tiramisu is delicious. The prices are reasonable.

This place wasnt good when the original owner had it. It was a spot to order a pizza at 3am before Sarpinos came around (not that they are much better)
Now with the new ownership, this place is awful. The food has changed flavor, for the worse.
The staff is weird and creepy now, especially the owner/​manager John who will give you a slice with his bare hands into a Styrofoam box, after touching money and credit cards.
I’m only giving this review an extra star because of how late they are open. If they werent open until 3am, I would give 0 stars if possible.
Oh and not to mention the prices have went up. A slice and can here is almost 5 $ now. Go to als during lunch and get 2 slices and a can for just about the same price.

Horrible. Ordered pizza for delivery. Told it would be an hour. Food never showed up. Called twice 30 min apart and was told it was being delivered both times. Ended up going somewhere else cause they never showed (McDonalds because after 3 hours nothing else was open). Horrible service, total scam.

It was open at like 2:00 A.M. The food was decent and it was relatively inexpensive. We did have to wait quite a long time for the pizza. That was the only real downside.

Best pizza on Cumberland Ave more ppl should try this over Al’s greasy over priced pizza. This place has great size n fresh slices always available now it’s cheesy n good

Ordered takeout at 12:15 am got my pizza at my hotel door in less then 30 min, so yummy, I got the thin 2 topping for 16 bucks, this will be my go to for late arrival flight to Ohare.

We ordered from Mama Mia’s tonight around 7:10 pm through Groupon’s website and almost immediately received an email confirmation that the order would be delivered between 8:10 and 8:20 pm. At 8:50 pm when we still had not received our order, we called the business and was assured that it was on the way. The order arrived at about 9:00 pm, and although I asked the delivery driver not to ring the doorbell, he rang the bell anyway. We weren’t thrilled with the service at this point, but were starving and hoping the the food would make up it.
I honestly can’t tell you how the food was because we weren’t able to eat it. We ordered four pasta dishes and they were packaged in the typical «foil on the bottom/​plastic on the top» to-​go containers. But they had stacked the heavy pastas on top of one another so the containers on top had squashed the containers on the bottom. That’s not typically a big deal, but it’s a huge deal when the plastic top breaks and pieces of plastic get into the food itself. Two of our four pastas had pieces of plastic in the food. They had also put garlic bread in with the pasta, and it was flattened by the time it arrived to us. Again, that’s not so bad, but the garlic bread was so stale that we couldn’t even bite through it. We’d also ordered mozzarella sticks that were ice cold by the time they arrived to us.
After multiple conversations with the manager (in which he said he’d have to call the owner if we wanted the order sent out again and/​or a discount on the order — as a side note, I’d recommend that the owner give a manager this power so a call to the owner isn’t necessary), we finally decided to return the whole thing and get all of our money back. I also put in a call to Groupon to ensure a refund was processed.
I had high hopes for this place because it’s close to where I live and relatively inexpensive. But overall, it was disappointing, frustrating, and a general waste of time. There are a number of great Italian restaurants in the area, and I would recommend taking your business elsewhere.

I love this place! We LOVE the fact that they are open until 2am! This is our go to place after going to the Allstate Arena!

This was the only option for late night food in the area. They have classic American staples of pizza and wings, which are any 3am muncher’s favorites. We ordered for 8 people and it took about one and a half hour from the time we ordered to the time we could bring the food up to the hotel room. The wings were fatty and the pizza was subpar, but I rate this place 4 stars because I was happy they were able to get us food when nobody else could. For that reason I advocate for Mama Mia’s as the best after mid-​night spoil yourself meal.

Definitely a quality and taste change after new ownership. Chewy and doughy pizza. Miss the thin and crispy slice. Paid 9 bucks for 2 slices and a can of Coke which I thought was high for the taste and quality of the product.
Hopefully they catch on and improve the food.

The new ownership has significantly decreased the quality of the pizza served here. I used to stop in and grab a slice every once in a while, but now there pizza never seems fresh, the pizza is much more doughy and has a lot less cheese than before. Not what it used to be.

We strolled in for the first time at 10pm after realizing that the central gyro place next door was closed. It was very good! The customer service was great and very attentive. We had a special $ 25.95 for a jumbo pizza four toppings, one appetizer & a 2 liter. For the appetizer we got the fried calamari which was delish. On the jumbo we did sausage, pepperoni, spinach and onions. Very very good pizza! The place is small but very nicely decorated. Great atmosphere. They did mention to us that the front windows are opened during the day. Can’t wait to try their pasta! Go check them out.

This used to be my favorite place for pizza but I feel like In the past few months they’ve been really slacking. I ordered a stuffed pizza for delivery and it came burnt! I really don’t know how they sent out a pizza looking like that. I called and complained and they said they’d send a new one and that the driver will pick up the first one. The second one they send was perfect but considering we were starving and ordered this pizza around 8pm, we didn’t get to actually eat until 10:20 pm.

This is the only pizzeria in the area that I have found that has football/​party (3 feet of pizza) for a good price. We ordered 6 of these fantastic pizzas for our daughters birthday party. The delivery guy showed up to survey the scene a few minutes early and we showed him where we wanted the pizzas and he took care of the rest. He was very polite and considerate of our party space.
The pizza was served to our guests a few minutes later and all I kept hearing was «Where did you order the pizza from? It’s fantastic! I’ve never seen a pizza this big before». As a party host, all I want is for my guests to be happy and also not have to break my bank account while I’m at it. Kid birthday party expenses can certainly add up! I was happy that my guests were happy!
If you are looking for exceptional customer service and great pizza look no further to Mama Mia’s pizzeria. This place is under new management and it’s a good thing considering all the other poor Unilocal reviews on here. They have really turned this place around and are on their way to making this one of the finest establishments in the area.

During the day the place is nice, the staff is friendly and for the most part the orders are correct&on time. However, once you get past say…10pm the place turns into a hell hold. I’ve ordered many times after 10 thinking it was just that time but no, the pizza is always burnt and the staff is always rude.

I read a couple reviews and I wanted to just ignore them and give these guys a shot… This is fed a place you order from when you don’t want good service… I order zucchini sticks small 10 inch veggie, carrot cake and a ginger ale they call me 45 mins later they called and said they are out of artichokes so my meal came to 31 $ instead of 33 $ when the delivery boy gets here 1hour 15 mins later (it’s late at night) he hands me my food and says I forgot your pop. I said lol you forgot my pop? Which I saw happened in another review. Ok so he goes to get my pop. Then he comes back with my pop I have 40 $ I said yeah I am going to need some change 8 $ tip for you for what? I don’t think so. He looks at me with this face like «are you serious» yeah I am your a delivery boy you should be carrying money on you. He went down stairs and got me my change. Finally I pay the guy give him 5 $ tip I was going to give him 3 $ I should have he even knew I should have by this response «thanks beautiful» so basically what i gathered from this place is they aren’t professional they are open until 2am which is nice. But I was to hungry and tired to even bother arguing. I won’t eat here again bc of the U professionalism. It makes me think something gross could be in my food (this is what to expect when you eat here) and btw cake is really good zucchini fries OK pizza was OK not enough sauce at all the cheese wasn’t melty it was a little hard. (Btw pizza boy smelt like weed) which is prbly why he forgot my pop and didn’t carry any change on him or he really thought I was going to give him a 8 $ tip lol

This review is specifically for Manager John. «YOU» are the MAN!
I ordered a plethora of food for myself along with 6 of my co workers. Close to 100 dollars of food to be exact. Our order which was originally taken by another employee was mishandled beyond belief and frankly as incomplete as it could have been.
We received our order. We were NOT happy. I called and around closing time to share a few words with the Mama Mia employee who took my order. I asked him to make things right for me and my friends.
What had happened next is something I did NOT expect. John the manager shows up at our door. He professionally explains the situation that had occurred and how communication had broken down amongst the employees. In addition to this he brought the completion of our order and MORE. He made things right, just like a manager should. We couldn’t believe our eyes on how above and beyond he had handled the situation. All of us were in shock and awe.
It gets better. The next day John calls and leaves me a voicemail offering to treat our party to dinner to (once again) make things right. He wanted to give us the opportunity to experience his establishment the way it should be experienced.
I can’t begin to express how much this means to me. This is what good customer service and business practice is all about.
John, I will never forget how you turned a mediocre, borderline unsalvageable dinner around to one of the most enjoyable late night delivery experiences I have ever had.
