Classic pub environment with a great beer and liquor selection, chill jazz with the Sunday afternoon football on mute. The only thing missing is the local customers. Maybe if they turned up the heat it would help.

Ooh my gosh I can’t believe I forgot to update my review. I’ve since moved closer, and this bar has become a weeknight staple for my friends and me(and my dog). It’s so relaxed and nice, I’m glad to have it as a midpoint meet-up location between a few of us!

Great go-to local bar. Walking by it looks pretty unassuming, but it’s actually a very pretty bar inside. Tons of beers on tap, great mix of selections. They also have various specials during the week, one night deals on local Chicago beers etc. They also have a really great trivia night on Thursday nights at 8pm, which is usually pretty busy and lively. Get there a little early to snag a table!

Huge beer list and great staff. The owner is often behind the bar and really takes the time to get to know everyone who walks in. They are a cute neighborhood craft beer hotspot. We first got to know them because they were hosting an event during craft beer week. It was so much fun in this little bar and in 2015 they even hosted a sours beer night. We have had many events here and the owner is always more than happy to accommodate any sized group, let us bring in food, open early and reserve space for our crew. You just have to ask and she is happy to make exceptions. We recently had our second fantasy football draft here and have had multiple birthday parties. They even have a jukebox and dart boards in the back. They are right by a Thai restaurant which you can bring in from next door or have food delivered. This is a really good meet up location for small groups or large alike.

My favorite place for trivia in the city. Big craft beer list, that’s kind of their thing – don’t worry, hipsters, they also have tallboys of PBR. No food but they encourage bringing on food from outside. A tamale guy comes in usually too; at a dollar a tamale it’s pretty great, if you are down with buying food from a guy with a Styrofoam cooler.

Sweethearts. Great beer selection, personable staff, snide remarks. Absolutely a treasure to Chicago.

One of my favorite bars in Chicago. Great location, beautiful inside. Quiet enough that you can have conversations with people but still a great atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff. Really big selection of beer and cider. I end up there most Thursday nights for trivia. Green Lady trivia night is the best I’ve found in Chicago. The cherry on top is the fact that the«Tamale Man» invariably makes an appearance.

Good Joint! Big bar top on left side/spare well done interior. DARK! Every time I’ve been there it’s been busy but not like packed, which is a plus. It’s always the same woman behind the bar, these nice and easy on the eyes, real easy! They have a GREAT list of Draft Beer as well as bottles & cans/lots of local stuff as well as some pretty obscure sours. Pricing is about average/my only complaint would be that it smells kinda funky right near the front door? Maybe a dead body. get dat did

This is my new Regal Beagle(google it – it’s a 70’s reference). I love the casual vibe here. And the beer and booze selection is awesome. Melanie — the owner — has treated me like a lady every time I’m in there and I am no lady. But she makes feel like one and that is much appreciated. If you love trivia, go on Thursdays. If you love a cool place to have a beer, go everyday.

My goto bar in the neighborhood. Best beer selection in the entire city, up there next to Hopleaf. If there is a new brew from your favorite brewery or an eclectic brewery you are trying to find, check their beer menu for it here: it’s constantly updating and rotating. No food, but you can bring in or deliver here. They have a giant stack of delivery menus behind the counter and there are lots of good take-out options within walking distance(New England Seafood, Café Orchid, Phở’s). If you are here around 10 Alberto the neighborhood Tamale guy will sell you delicious tamales for $ 5! Trivia on Thursdays is the best!

A visit to The Green lady was a real mixed bag for us. In the win column: Great craft beer selection on tap… truly fantastic. The blonde bartender was very extremely nice and helpful. Laid back atmosphere with good music. Craft Beer week event had extra special items to drink. Met some fun Hawks fans at the bar and shared tips on where to watch games in the city. You can bring food in since the bar doesn’t serve food. The not-so-good: The bar was quite busy and the staff seemed overwhelmed for the Beer Week event. The quality of service was all over the place, sometimes friendly and other times very harried depending on who took your order. I had asked about the beers on tap for the event and just got a blank«Whatevers on tap» shrug off… luckily they put menus on the table later with more details. The FB event mentioned brewery glasses would be given out but we received differing answers from the staff about it(ultimately pints yes, tulips no, then the table busser took all the glasses away regardless), also there was a table of food in the bar but no one around us knew if it was for the event or the birthday party also taking place. Just a lot of general confusion and mixed answers from the staff that night. Ultimately, I think I would really enjoy this bar on a slower night. Unfortunately my first experience was a very busy Beer Week event that they were taken over by. It’s a nice space with great selection and one of the bartenders in particular was lovely the whole time.

The beer list was pretty awesome and for a laid back, let’s have a beer at the bar kind of place this place hit the mark. They have these big windows facing Lincoln avenue and while we had a drink there last night they had the big windows open which I really enjoyed. The only downside was the bartender. Her attitude towards me and everyone else in my party ranged between open contempt and a visceral effort to tolerate my existence. I don’t know why, we weren’t loud or obnoxious and I like to think I’m a pretty respectful customer, but when I asked if they carried a particular type of beer she looked at me like I asked for her panties and gave me a sharp«no». Her attitude didn’t steer too far off the path of that charm and made for a uncomfortable experience every time we ordered a drink. The place was cool and the beer selection was pretty great but I think next time I’ll peak my head in and see if that bartender is working and come back another time if she’s there.

This store front has gone through many changes and owners throughout the early 2000’s. But The Green Lady seems to have settled here and if they continue with the delicious brew choices I do not see them going anywhere any time soon! Against The Grain, Spiteful, 3 Sheeps and Dog Fish Head are some of these great brewery’s beers they offer, and we’re talking draft pours here! Great prices for unique beers, friendly and relaxed service and an overall interesting learning experience is offered each and every time at The Green Lady. Thanks for a great night out and I shall see you all soon.

The Green Lady is terrific. I feel like it’s a bar that’s for beer lovers and it loves beer lovers in return. The first time I visited was during craft beer week and it was packed with craft beer lovers and craft beer makers. Particularly, the guys from Distortion brewing who are homebrewers; any bar that makes space for local beermakers to showcase their stuff is already earning an ‘A’ with me. When you think of a bar you think a nice dark, wood bar with some comfortable seating in a plush but unpretentious environment and that’s not crowded with flannel shirts and neck beards. The guys behind the bar weren’t snooty about what you chose, because if it’s on their it’s obviously going to be good. The Green Lady is as close as you can get to a perfect bar.

These are the kind of bars I like. Laid back, not overly crowded(well, it was on the Saturday night I visited), clean bathrooms(even as it got later in the evening) and an interesting brew list. GL is a great spot to check out if you’re in the mood for microbrews. The list was huge! Check out for their current list. They’ve got them on draft, in the bottle and cans. This place also seems to be the spot for celebratory drinks as I was here to celebrate a birthday and there seemed to be another group celebrating something as evidenced by the food they brought it.(I guess you can bring food in too!) Seating – high top tables, stools at the bar and a couch layout. There’s also 2 dart boards in the back. Service was ok. I didn’t appreciate my pint glass getting taken away prematurely. Perhaps I’m just used to people asking if I’m done with my drink first. Although once I got my glass of water, someone was coming around often refilling it if needed. By the end of my night, there was a different server that was much nicer and more animated than the server before him. This place does start to play the music loud as the night moves on, which I think is unnecessary as «dance club» or «rock club» is not the vibe I get from the place. Drinking and loud conversation. Fun times.

I am not the type to seek out a bar with a huge beer list… but my friends are, and so I gladly joined them at the Green Lady to celebrate a birthday and enjoy some beer. There was about 6 or 8 of us and we were seated at a table. The service when I got there was really good, the server was attentive and knowledgeable. She helped me pick out a drink. As they got busier though the service definitely took a nose dive. I would say that I can understand that, but really, the servers were chatting with people at the bar. And why can’t the guys who are taking empty glasses also bring full ones? I’d give them 5 stars if the service was a little better(or maybe just consistently good?). The atmosphere is good and it’s a pretty bar(should it be handsome instead of pretty?). It’s clearly fairly new and well kept up. The music did get louder and louder as the night went on. I think I left around 11 and I’m pretty sure we were screaming at each other at that point. Or maybe I was just screaming at people? Sounds like the kind of thing I’d do after lots of beer. I’d go back to the Green Lady if I were with someone who really likes beer. Sadly, wine and liquor is more my speed, but if you are looking for an impressive beer list… check out the Green Lady.

Last year, I was here for a friend’s birthday. And it was great. And I told my wonderful beer-loving husband about it. Fast forward 50-ish weeks or so. It’s my birthday weekend. My sneaky husband has indicated to me that I am to get in the car and he’ll drive us somewhere. And that other people may or may not show up. As you’ve probably figured out, we ended up here, with six friends joining the merriment. One brought cookies, and a glorious time was had by all. I will note that as the night goes on(especially on a Saturday) the music did get louder and the bartenders are not *quite* as attentive to individual tables — largely because there are more people around, I’m sure. It does seem like they could use another person sometimes, but I’m glad they’re doing well. It’s a great neighborhood bar that’s nowhere near my neighborhood, but I’m always happy to visit.
