I’m really sad this place closed. I lived directly upstairs and Bourbon became like my Cheers. Every bartender that worked here was rad as hell, the regulars(aside from myself) were a hoot, the drinks were always cheap despite my «friends» discount, the food was always good, and the music was usually streamed from my iTunes, ha! Some nights they had live acts or the Coffin Banger would come in and DJ. Thanks, Kevin! Whiskey Wednesdays = love

If you’re looking for a bar that has a great selection of beers and bourbons, enough room that your drink isn’t spilled when you leave the bar, great indie rock music, and enough TVs to still catch the game, Bourbon is the place. I’ve yet to have a bad time here and Halloween is jamming.

Great place to watch a kentucky basketball or football game. The guys who work there are pretty cool. The girls are pretty mean/rude, but I’d be mean/rude too if I was a girl working at a bar. It’s a cool place to drink. I wouldn’t come here looking for a fantastic meal, but the tots are pretty awesome to eat while drinking.

Came here one time on a Monday because we saw on a website that they had ½ priced bottles of wine and $ 5 pizzas. Once we got there we found out that was not the deal. We were very sad. However, there were only about 5 other people in the entire bar, so the bartender said he would give us that deal. We tipped him a lot. The pizza was good and the wine tasted great! Probably more so because of the special… but it was still tasty. I’ll be back eventually.

one of the most beautiful phrases in the English language: «½ Price Whiskey Wednesdays». ‘Nuff said.

I went to eat here on a rainy Saturday with my boyfriend.(All he wanted was their tots, and made that extremely clear). When we walked in we saw a waitress, and she mumbled something to us. When we couldn’t understand her we asked her politely to repeat herself, and she said: Sit wherever u want.(In an uninviting tone). We then sat at a table near the back, and waited at least 5 mins for her to come up to us. She then said: Do you guys need something? No, were sitting here because it seems like the cool thing to do. I asked her for menus, and two drinks. She then walked over to get her food that had been sitting under the heat lamp for what seemed like 10 min(appetizing). She then talked to the bar guests for awhile, and continued to waltz around looking confused. She didn’t pay any attention to her guests and just wasn’t hustling at all. The place was pretty full, but she made not attempt to do her job. So, we waited another 5 mins and still had nothing in front of us. We then left because I had to be at work in a couple hours, and I didn’t know if I was even going to get my food by then. Being in this industry, I am understanding to human error and know that people make mistakes. We all have off days, but to treat someone with blatant disrespect and then want to get paid for it is ludicrous. Being in the service industry is a tough deal sometimes, but it’s a choice. She should have chosen the latter.(Oh, and my bf still wants his tots)

I want to give this place 3 ½ stars, but since I can’t, then I have to give it 3 — based on my experience alone. We were excited to try this place — it looked pretty cool and laid-back. Just our style. Drink selection was decent, but really you should just come here for the bourbon, I guess. We ordered our food: andouille stuffed jalapenos for an appetizer, and then i got the fried green tomato sandwich and my boyfriend got a burger. After the first andouille stuffed jalapeño, we were like«Damn, these are awesome! A little spicy though…» and then after the 2nd one, we were both literally crying. I have a fairly strong tolerance for spicy foods — I love spicy food. After these little deep-fried peppers from hell, though, I felt like my mouth was going to literally melt out of my head. I have never been in such pain like this before. I mean, literally tears-streaming-down-my-face-and-I-absolutely-couldn’t-do-anything-about-it crying. And you’d think that something that spicy would have a warning, or maybe the dish would come with a nice piece of bread, or some crackers, or a tall glass of ice-cold milk. Something to soak up all that capsaicin. But no. I had to go over to the bar, tears still streaming down my face, and ask the waitress to get me some f***ing crackers. Apparently, the closest thing they have to crackers is oyster crackers. One little package. Couldn’t you have spared a sister a freakin’ BUN??? Needless to say, the rest of the meal was not that fun. I remember the fried green tomato sandwich being really good, but a little greasy. The burger was good, too. And I totally agree with another reviewer that said that the tator tots are amazing. It’s like they fry them with crack or something. Awesome. My mouth was shot for the rest of the night, though. I didn’t even want a 2nd drink. And please don’t make me tell you about the next day. Let’s just say that excessive amounts of capsaicin can do strange and horrible things to your digestive system. I don’t think that I’ll be back. Unless it’s with my favorite enemy and then I’ll joyously recommend that they try the andouille-stuffed jalapenos!

When I first moved to the neighborhood I would walk by Bourbon always thinking that I should stop in, but it took a few months to finally do so. The exterior is excellent, with big windows and a highly stylized, yet simplistic awning. The style of the exteriors carries over to the inside, with each table being candle lit, and a very lounge-like feel, with soft colors being used throughout the bar. It never gets too crowded, and sometimes I find myself to be one of the only people there, which can be confusing as they have a solid Bourbon selection(obviously), good specials(half price whiskey night!), and bartenders who know what they’re doing. I don’t know what’s missing that is keeping Bourbon from becoming a more popular spot. All I know is once it all«clicks» at Bourbon, this place is going to explode.

Rather bizarre is what comes to mind when I think of my experience here. I took my bourbon-loving friend here, thinking it would be just the spot to make him happy since we’d dragged him out on the horrendously windy, snowy, & sleety Saturday night. The place was dead, which wasn’t surprising given the weather. I asked the bartender if they had a drink menu and she said no. I found this rather odd, so we decided to just get beer instead of trying to muddle our way through choosing a bourbon. Later, I saw someone else reading a full-page list of their bourbons so I’m not sure if she forgot they HAD a drink list or what… Later, my friends asked the bartender for two shots. She didn’t know how to make the shots they’d requested(Buttery Nipples — butter schnapps & Irish cream) but instead of asking what’s in them or looking it up in a bartending guide, she offered lemon drops. She was nice enough, but the service felt very casual as she horsed around with the kitchen staff. They also spent a fair amount of time sitting at the bar drinking(which I have no problem with) & smoking(which I do have a problem with b/c none of the customers in the place were smoking) The scene felt like the«kids will play when the parents are away»! I’m all for casual, friendly, neighborhood bar service, but this experience crossed into unprofessional territory. I think the most entertaining part of the night was when the lone other table set a napkin or something on fire with their little tea candle. The customer had the bright idea to spit the beer in his mouth on the fire in an attempt to put it out. This, not surprisingly, further ignited a nice little flaming tower between the table and his mouth. Brilliant. Well, nobody could say we weren’t entertained. BOTTOMLINE: A quiet, low-key place. I certainly wouldn’t go out of my way to go back; the service, unfortunately, crosses the line from casual to unprofessional.

While not exactly a destination bar, I do like this spot. We’ve stopped by a couple of times, usually simply because we needed a watering hole right then. It isn’t particularly smoky, nor is it terribly loud. That, I like. Service has been decent – we’ve never ordered food, so I can’t be a judge of that… this time! Can’t speak of their actual selection of bourbon, but I’d be pretty disappointed if they didn’t have good choices to live up to their namesake. If you find yourself wandering aimlessly up and down Lincoln Ave, as I am sometimes wont to do, pop in. But, I wouldn’t drive an hour from the suburbs… it isn’t that cool.

To be fair, this could be a great restaurant except that Bourbon on Lincoln just changed their chefs, so their menu was very limited. Their selection included 7 appetizers, 3 sandwiches, 4 pizzas, 3 salads, and 1 pasta. Desserts were not a part of the menu. Most disappointingly, we had been lead to believe that the menu would include alligator meat, and there were no unique food groups on the menu. Plus, the waitress, while nice, was completely clueless. We tried an array of different appetizers including: fried mac ‘n cheese(ok), shrimp atop garlic bread(A+), tater tots(good, but too salty), fried green tomatoes(A-). For my entrée, I got the green BLT(basically a BLT with green mayo and green tomatoes). It was good, but, again, too salty. My friend’s garlic pizza was also a bit too salty. On the plus side, the entrée portions are pretty sizable. All in all, I think this restaurant needs to find its groove. Give it a couple months before trying…

For those that arent aware, this place is a Kentucky Wildcats bar! It was awesome, mostly because UK is now 4 – 0 for the first time in like 30 plus years. Aside from that, the bar was decent. It was a packed house when we arrived but they let us sit back in the party room. Service was quite friendly but real slow(thats just because of the mass horde of people there). Food and beer selection was limited, but it was a great experience.

I started off being really bitter about Bourbon because they opened in Tombo Kitchen’s old space and I LOVED Tombo. But my friend convinced me to go because her friend owns the place. I’m glad I went. Bourbon has redefined the tator tot — holy shit those things are AMAZING! And if you order a side of tots, they actually bring you a massive mound of them on a plate. I seriously almost made myself sick by OD’ing on these things. Oh, and the other food is pretty good too. So tots aside, this is a pretty chill bar. I like it better than most spots in that neighborhood because the crowd seems to be a little older and more mature. Not that I’m mature(see above: making myself sick on tator tots), but I do like to be in the presence of mature folks… it may rub off. And I agree with whoever said that they had kind of a shoddy waitstaff awhile back, but I believe they’ve improved that situation.

We went in on a slow night and the bartender and chef were so accommodating and friendly. The food was very good. Lovely crabby crab cakes. They didn’t even bat an eye when I chose my Jameson over their ample selection of bourbons and various whiskey type liquors. I live close by and will be back. They always seem to be having some sort of special.

I stopped by this place on ½ price wine and $ 5 pizza night(which I believe is on Mondays), and I left drunk and totally stuffed. The bottle of pinot grigio I had was fantastic, the artichoke and spinach pizza was incredibly delicious, the service was totally attentive. The bar itself is swanky and just has a fabulous atmosphere all around. Honestly, the only thing I can find fault with is that the table I was sitting at was kind of wobbly. I’m surprised every time I walk by that it’s not way more packed than it is. One of my favorite new places!

The service here sucked during our first and only visit. First it took her five minutes to come serve us. Then the tattooed bartender tried to charge us the wrong price for our drinks(which were on special) twice. Instead of correcting the price she gave us free«Irish car bombs» which she proceeded to make with only Jameson and Guiness instead of using Baileys. She called us «pussies» because we only drank the Guiness and left the shots on the counter. I had high hopes because I love bourbon but the atmosphere was drab and boring.
