Decent food for a decent price. It’s perfect for lunch. They also have daily specials for $ 6. I usually get the cheese quesadilla which is cheesy and good. The tortilla soup is kind of oily.

So I ate on the Millenium Dogs side — not the Taco Fresco side. I was not happy. I ordered my food and stood waiting while three employees behind the counter actually just stood there having a conversation. They then prepared two walk-up Indian meals that weren’t on the menu for two random people before making anyone’s hot dogs. The bun was stale-ish, the dog wasn’t even particularly warm, and they had a long line and a lot of people waiting due to slow service. Their prices are low for this area — $ 3.50-$ 6.50 for dogs, Polish, and beef. Cheap and edible(my meal was $ 5.75), but probably won’t come back.

I purchased the shrimp taco meal. I took the meal to go and to my surprise the shrimp had an unappealing smell. I explained the situation to the staff and what I experienced, no one seemed to be concerned. I will never return due to the lack of customer service and the shrimp which appeared very spoiled.

I will not be returning to this place. The manager/supervisor is such an ass, I don’t like the way he treats his employees. Don’t just sit there looking at your clock, it’s not going to make them work faster! If I could give negative starts I would!

Taco Fresco On a bitterly-cold February day, around 6 pm, I walked by Taco Fresco as I took the pedway to escape the Chiberian outdoors. As I hoofed it past, Taco Fresco looked like a downtrodden chain store in a strip of fast food holes in the wall(sorry Starbucks…). But a bear has to fatten up to stay warm in hibernation; so I stopped in for take-out. It was far better than my expectations. The chicken fuerte burrito was tasty, and I also got a tamale which was good. My favorite part is that they had about four different flavors of salsas in little cups that you could take with you, and they were flavorful. The guy behind the counter was more than helpful as well. No gourmet food here, but for serviceable food, a friendly face, a good selection of salsas and convenience, I’ve got to go four stars.

I went to this Taco Fresco location in the Millenium Street Station for my work lunch during the day. All I can say is that I had a bad experience with one of the staff. I was there with a co-worker/friend and I mistakenly grabbed more like«slightly touched» the wrong oder(which was my co-worker’s order of shrimp yada yada). I didn’t even lift the bag of food off the counter before the line cook went ballistic and yelled at me saying why did I take the wrong one. I explained that I couldn’t understand what he said since he had a heavy accent when he called the order and it was my mistake. Needless to say, they just lost a customer. It was an honest mistake and I technically didn’t even take the wrong order… it never left the counter!

Meh meh meh, meh meh meh meh. Meh meh. Meh meh. Meh. Don’t go here unless you want shitty Mexican food or if the restaurant across the way doesn’t accept your coupon(which I’ll complain about in the next review).

For a healthy, cheap taco option Taco Fresco is the best. They have a great beef taco special on Tuesdays — 2 tacos, rice, beans and a drink for $ 5.50. I don’t like refried beans, so they always gave me double rice. I’ve been to other Taco Fresco locations in the city and their specials are not nearly as good. I tried their quesadilla once. It was fine, but just too small. The best thing here is their lean beef. I’ve even tried to duplicate it. They won’t share the recipe. :(

It’s surprisingly good for train station Mexican. The quesadillas were completely serviceable, and they have about 8 varieties of homemade salsa. The line was very clean and all the toppings looked fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch, even though I’m a pain in the neck about Mexican.

Well, I do love the chicken quesadillas and the choice of salsas. And while I like the taste of the shrimp tacos, the shrimp are too rubbery. But the chicken quesadilla makes up for it. Pretty much the only place I’ll eat when I’m at Millenium Station.

Hmmm… I hadn’t eaten here in years. On a recommendation I had stopped by here several years ago and had a fantastic Yellowfin tuna burrito. Being the rare occasion that I was in that part of the loop yesterday, I decided to stop back and get one of those delicious and unique tuna burritos. Meh is an understatement. The burrito, well… it lacked everything. The ingredients were unbalanced; it felt like it was crammed with iceberg lettuce and the tuna that was used was kind of like canned. All in all it was a far departure from what I had in several years ago. I guess if you were in a pinch, i’d recommend it, but keep in mind it’s not exactly cheap!

I wish I could give this place more stars because I was met at the counter with a friendly smile and good service, but the burrito was SO bland, that I spent the next 15 min eying the hot dog place next door, where you could get a nice Chicago style hot dog for $ 2.75. I got the chicken burrito fuerte without the jalapeño cream salsa because I don’t really like cream-based sauces. Originally, I thought this was a good idea because this is supposed to be a «healthy» burrito – it’s made with chicken breasts and fat free beans. Normally, I try to eat healthier, too. I didn’t think not having sour cream or aioli would be problematic, because whenever I go to Chipotle or any authentic Mexican restaurant in my SF ‘hood, my food still tastes amazing without me having to use any cream-based sauces. Here is where a good concept failed to translate into good execution: 1. As it stood, the burrito is still advertised as 587 calories. If you’re trying to lose weight, it’s all about calories in vs. calories out. And that’s a decent amount of calories for a «healthy» burrito. 2. As I mentioned before, totally bland. If they added spices or even cooked the ingredients in a 99% fat free chicken broth, it would have given it some flavor, any flavor. At the end of the day, I think Judy L. put it nicely in her review of this place: «I’d rather eat an unhealthy taco and die of a blood clot than eat another one of their burritos again.» I’ll second that, with a side of fries, please.

Taco Fresco’s marketing theme is healthy tacos but the taste of their tacos is so bland, I’d rather eat an unhealthy taco and die of a blood clot than to eat another one of their burritos again. The flavor of their burritos and tacos do not mesh together when you bite in. Instead, imagine taking a scoop of flavorless black beans, scoop it in your mouth, a spoonful of rice that’s missing butter or salt, put that in your mouth, a few bites of extra lean chicken and then chew them all together. Their guacamole is the only thing I would go back for because it has little to no onions(dislike raw onions) and it’s a bargain for $ 1.65 compared to Chipotle’s hefty $ 3.

I just went there for lunch for the second day in a row — yesterday was chicken burrito fuerte(super healthy burrito according to its description) and today the healthy tilapia tacos. Yum! Loved it both days. I’m sold. TF is on a short list to become my new«go to» lunch joint. Not only tasty and fresh, but I really like the option to substitute healthier items. My only hang up lies in the beans and rice. They’re both just okay. I’d never order them separately as sides, but with a combo they rounded out the taco combo lunch. Salsas are plentiful and fresh too. The jalepeno has a good kick.

Not bad at all Tacos are my number one fast food, so you can imagine how excited I was when I saw a taco joint opening up in Millennium station. I had to leave a bit earlier to try and grab a bite and not miss my train. I opted for a steak burrito, because I just didn’t feel right ordering non-authentic tacos. Everything seemed fresh since business was booming. They about 5 — 7 salsas to choose from, so I asked one of the guys which one they liked. He recommended the jalapeño one so I grabbed it along with the sent hottest one. I can’t remember the name of it, but seriously, don’t bother. The jalapeño salsa is the best they have. Over all the burrito was pretty good. I went back a second time and ordered a shrimp burrito made«healthy» There was something just off about the taste. I think part of it was that the guacamole tasted a bit old, but the other thing was that the combination of flavors wasn’t good. I think it’s a good place for a quick bite, but doesn’t beat an authentic burrito, and I pass up a great Mexican joint on my way home. The food is better and a lot cheaper.

I like this Taco Fresco for what it is: a less greasy Mexican food joint that’s close to work. There’s usually a line out the door, but seeing as they just opened, I think they’re getting better at handling the hoards. I’ve had the steak burrito combo meal, which was fine. The burrito is good and not as greasy as some other Mexican joints. The rice and beans, however, leave a lot to be desired. Bonus point for the 7 or 8 salsas to choose from.

Recently opened, the craze has died down so I made my inaugural visit. I’ve been to a few other TF’s and didn’t like them(at all, actually), but I went in open-minded… I ordered the steak burrito combo meal. The burrito itself was OK. The meat was good and flavorful. It also had shredded iceburg lettuce and tomato, and I think maybe cheese but I couldn’t taste it if so.(No sour cream). But overall it was better than I remember it, though not as good as Chipotle(nor as high quality of ingredients inside.). More on par with an average taqueria. If the nutrional info on their web site is correct, a burrito here though is half the calories it is at Chipotle(it’s also much smaller though too). The rice and beans aren’t anything exciting. $ 7 for a steak burrito combo meal. Some are more depending on the meat… Drink choices are coke fountain; no real iced tea, just the high fructose corn syrup infused fountain version. No Mexican drinks… One thing I saw here that I haven’t at other TF’s is a salsa selection… 10 or so different salsas to pick from. I tried one and it was good. The place is fairly enviro-unfriendly… they put everyone’s meal in a plastic bag whether they’re sitting 5′ from the counter or taking it to go, completely unnecessary. Edit: OK … today it came in a paper sack instead. +1 ! I’ll give it another whirl!
