This restaurant recently had a face lift, unfortunately the customer service did not change that much. This place is super slow. The cashier’s apparently have no clue of the meaning of customer service. If you have a special order it is a good chance they will screw it up. Please pay special attention to your receipt they may accidentally overcharge you.

I have been a Popeye’s fan for years, and had never had a bad experience at one until i visited this store. This is by far the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. For one, the customer service, if you can call it that, is a joke. A lot of young people who have no training and many of them, not all, but many, with bad attitudes. The drive through is a travesty. When you do finally get to place your order, and you pull to the window, they then ask you to back up «past the trash can and pull back up». I assume this is to reset the timer so their times can look good. I normally avoid this Popeye’s location like that plague, but on this particular day, Sunday February 15th, I had a moment of weakness. I had been out most of the day, it was snowing, and I was just ready to get home, and it was on my way home. So, I went through the drive through and ordered 8 pieces of chicken mixed, spicy, to go with the sides I had already prepared at home. The young lady on the intercom asked me if I would like the special, which was 10 pieces for the same price, I said sure. When I got to the window I was told that it would be a 15 minute wait for the dark spicy, would I like all white meat spicy for the same price or they had mild ready. Not being a fan of white meat, I opted for the mild. My son would eat the white meat but I won’t. So they filled my order and stupidly I didn’t check it prior to leaving, when I got home(2 blocks away) I discovered it was all white meat, spicy. I immediately called to register my complaint. I was told I could come back up and they would replace it. I informed them that I really didn’t want to come back out today(it was cold and snowing). The lady I spoke with, Candis, was very nice and said that’s fine, if you come back tomorrow we will replace it with a 5 piece, and told me to ask for her when I came. So needles to say that day I ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and called it a day. The next day I returned to Popeye’s to get the rest of my chicken. A young lady, and I wish I could remember her name so I could call her out on her, took my order, I asked for Candis. I was told that«she gon already». So I told her why I was there. She proceeded to inform me that she knew about the situation and that she was the one that fixed my order and that I had told her I wanted all white meat. I told her that no I didn’t. I don’t even like white meat so why would I have told you that? She said«well whatever. .. .. . I’ll fix the order — what you want». I told her that I wanted mild and in the order I wanted one breast. I had a friend coming over that day that can’t eat spicy and I knew he would want the breast and being they messed my order up the day before and it was there fault I was back up there, they could throw in one piece of white meat. She informed me that I couldn’t have any white meat and that she would only give me dark meat. After a brief argument, I told her to just give me the number to Popeye’s corporate office. She walked off with an attitude and got on the phone. After being gone for several minutes, she returned with a name and number written on a receipt. When I glanced at it I could clearly see that it was the number to that store location. I said this is not Popeye’s corporate number that’s this store number. She said«this is corporate». I told her that there was no way in hell Popeye’s would have anything corporate at this ghetto location. She said whatever and walked off. I left the store and found Popeye’s corporate number online and filed a complaint. This is the worst Popeye’s location in the nation. Take my advice don’t ever go here. I hope that it get’s closed down.

Stopped in for a quick lunch on Monday afternoon. Popeyes is Popeyes, pretty much no matter where you go. Well except for that one downtown… (clears throat) This particular Popeyes is a very clean one. The food they gave me was piping hot and tasted good(in other words it was cooked thoroughly) and the service was professional and fast. From the time I placed my order to getting my food = 3 minutes. I’ll be back Popeyes, now that I’ve found one on the South Side near my house that I like…

This is the worst Popeye’s location! The customer service is non existent. The employees are rude and have an attitude. They also lie to the corporation about wait times by asking everyone who comes in the drive thru to back up to the garbage can and pull forward again. They are ALWAYS out of something whether its hot sauce or a side dish. I have NEVER been satisfied at this location and I do not plan to ever go back. They need to fire everyone there and start over. I will be calling the corporation to report them. The only positive is the chicken is usually hot and good.

This is by far the best Popeyes I have ever set foot in. I’ve been to about 4 others and I don’t know why but they are always lazy, getting your order wrong, or horrible service. But this place takes the cake! Congrats Popeyes on 35th!

I went through the drive thru tonight and ordered a strawberry cream cheese pie. The cashier, and his nastiest voice, told me it would take seven minutes. Then he said, «We have apple pies ready… take one of those.» I told him that wasn’t what I wanted and he said, «Well you gonna have to wait.» What kind of nonsense is this? My last visit there, a few weeks ago, resulted in the cashier leaving two items out of my order. I try to support businesses in my community but this restaurant seems to make it hard and sometimes impossible.

This location makes it seem like you are in a maximum security bank. Glass at the counter blocks staff from customers. Maybe this was needed 10 years ago, but Bronzeville has come a long way since then and most other restaurants don’t have it in area. It’s incredibly hard to hear the order takers through microphone system. Same story with drive threw. Service is slow. They ditched Pepsi for Coke products and mac and cheese, which also gets negatives in my book.

This is got to be the worst Popeyes I ever been to. How do you explain running out of chicken at a chicken restaurant, really. Terrible service, all most of them seem to have an attitude. No ice is no ice sorry you got it wrong. This is a pretty regular occurrence. Hate coming here but live so close and I love Popeyes.

Popeye’s is a great franchise all on its own, so it automatically gets four stars in my book. This location is in a difficult spot, since it’s directly next to a KFC, directly across from Wings Around The World, and there’s a Church’s within a few blocks as well. Still, I always have to stop in at this Popeye’s if I’m ever in the area. It’s not uncommon for me to have a bounty of wings from WATW and still walk into Popeye’s to get some biscuits, french fries, and maybe a couple of pieces of that spicy fried chicken as well. This location in particular could use with more specials /family meals. The smallest special at this place(other than the Wednesday deal) is something like 10 pieces of chicken and two large sides. I’ve been to other locations with more offerings to get me a good deal on some delicious chicken. Still, it’s Popeye’s and that’s what gets it four stars. The staff is average and the deals are minimal, so it shall remain at four stars.

Unprofessional teen Employees acting a fool inside and thugs hanging outside. Took 20 minutes for 2 piece in drive up. Drive the extra miles for another chicken place. They need to close this one down and build a church.

Despite there being 4 other fried chicken places on the block, Popeye’s is always my choice. Watch out for the 8-piece special on Tuesdays and the month before Marti Gras.
