I threw my best friend a baby shower here and all i can say is they are very unorganized. The event coordinator is very hard to get in touch with & u would think she would be there the day of the event and she definitely wasn’t. We went the day before and they had no idea what was going up. The guy who set the tables up was sooooo rude. And we payed around 700 dollars so you would think we would get better treatment. Lesson learned. Never will through another event here.

Pompei, I’ve been here several times now, and each time I have such high hopes but am really just left with an «eh» feeling about the food. First let’s do positives. They have a lovely patio and an ample dining room, so there’s a lot of space for seating. They also have quite an array of choices when it comes to the food. Many different pizza slice options, more than your typical pizza slice carry out place. Their portions tend to be generous, and they give you a fair amount for the price. Also they do have some parking in the back! The food itself is okay, I’ve tried some of their pizzas, some of their pastas, and the arancini and have never been really blown away by anything. It does come out fairly quickly though and for a quick lunch I’d definitely recommend it, however it’s not food that I find myself wanting to come back for. A great place with good options to fill your stomach, and if you eat with your eyes, definitely the place for you as they display a number of their foods.

Have I mentioned how much I hate Pompeii! They definitely are not customer friendly I have been ordering lunches for people for the past 14 years they are the only place that will not accommodate and number the orders or indicate what the item is. Really is it that hard to do? Unfortunately it is the only place that makes salads that is available for delivery they charge enough the price of a meal in order to deliver. Personally I will try my hardest in order to buy from other places who really want my business and it usually is more than a hundred dollars!

We have eaten here for 20 plus years. Back when it was down the block and a simple hole in the wall. The family ran it, had a line out the door and good food. Fast forward, same food but huge overhead w more locations and expanded menu. We return time after time and the food is good as long as the service is there as well.

Terrible. The food is expensive, not fresh, and they seem to screw up orders on the regular over here.

Just ate lunch here as it was recommended to us. This fast-food style in a sit-down atmosphere was better than I expected! The pizza(2 big pieces per serving) was pretty good, as was the garlic cheese bread(which used more of a toasted panini bread). The establishment is clean and pleasant, with helpful staff. Good stop for a quick lunch. Arrive VERY hungry!

Pompei Management, you just lost a customer of 48 years, forever! My GF and I had experienced rude customer service at the Taylor street location while ordering delivery and while picking up our order. Today was the last straw! I just called in a problem with my delivery order from last night. I was less than 24 hours when I informed the order person that my supposed Gluten Free Minestrone soup was delivered with pasta in it. This was the first time I experienced this. Ok, so what’s the big deal right, my soup came with pasta right? I have Celiac and cannot consume food made with Gluten. I didn’t think to look inside my soup bowl last night as my eyes were glued to the TV screen. We were watching ‘The Voice’ and didn’t notice the pasta in my bowl until I was finishing the leftover soup today. No wonder I was feeling sick last night. The manager offered me a ridiculous refund of $ 2 because I hadn’t called until today, are you kidding me? What century are you in? Your soup made me sick, why wouldn’t you offer to buy me a new one or offer me a full refund… I am puzzled at your archaic approach to customer service. How do you expect to keep your doors open with your consistently rude take out, and delivery, and management personnel!!! Good luck and good bye!

Below average, definitely. Watery, flavorless fettuccine Alfredo for 11.50?!? I’ll pass next time. At least the portion was big.

Pretty good consistently decent meal. Nothing particularly special about this place except that it’s open later than most restaurants in Pilsen where I live so that’s a plus.

It’s got a pretty cool atmosphere, free parking, and the food is pretty good! I liked it, but wasn’t in love with it, you know? I had a good experience, though!

Inconsistent is probably the best way to describe Pompei on Taylor. We usually order delivery from their Lakeview location and it’s always good, but you never know what will happen on Taylor Street. We just had an early dinner and it was terrible from start to finish. When we were ordering, the owner or manager was berating an employee in front of us about cherries. They were apparently so upset about last night’s desserts that the woman ringing us up stopped with us and joined in. He finally left and started screaming at someone else. This set the tone. The food was the worst I’ve ever had at any Pompei location. My ravioli was hard and my wife’s spaghetti had an unidentifiable object in it(apparently a burnt bone). The meatballs were clearly at least a day old. Maybe instead of screaming about cherries, the owners should focus on the food quality and service.

Fast food Italian. It’s cafeteria style, which in itself is not a problem. Sadly I’ve been here a few times and the food is just blegh. The fetuccini alfredo was no good and seemingly had not a single shred of parmegiano reggiano. while it wasn’t watery, it just wasn’t flavored at all and I had to put salt and pepper all over it to make it edible. The next time I tried the plain old spaghetti with tomato sauce. Also, not seasoned and had no flavor. I won’t be back, and don’t understand the draw. I always have good service, although the people behind the counters can’t tell you much about what’s good and what’s not because they haven’t tried it. The ambiance is nice, but I definitely need better with my Italian food.

Okay pizza. But, by far the worst cannoli I’ve ever had in my life. Staff was friendly and plenty of seating and nice atmosphere. Staff member replied kindly to my last review. Im not recommending this place, but perhaps I caught them on a «bad pizza-cannoli day.»

I was looking for a place with great Salads because sometimes a nice green chicken salad is just what I need. I tried their chicken Cesar salad and I must say it is great! The chicken is cooked to perfection and grilled just right! Their dressing isn’t your typical creamy dressing its light and zangy which goes just right with the chicken. Their croutons are also great, the seasoning is just perfect. I would definitely recommend this place for a quick lunch.

Average tasting pizza, average tasting everything else. Plenty of seating for group events or a birthday dinner etc etc. They have TVs so you can even come here to watch the Bulls win! UIC Clubs host events here throughout the year. You will most likely have to meter park because you need a zone sticker to park on side streets. If I was craving pizza, I wouldn’t go here because there are a million other places for that in Chicago.

My family and I visited Pompei during a recent visit to Chicago and we enjoyed a wonderful meal. Located in an Italian neighborhood, our«hop on/hop off» driver recommended Pompei so we decided to give it a shot. The restaurant is very casual — you go through a cafeteria type of line to order your meal, but the food is excellent — generous portions of Italian-American comfort food.

Great place for a lunch in an otherwise terrible neighborhood. Parking is at a premium, get there early to try and snag a spot. They have a huge menu with many options, so it can be overwhelming when you first walk in. I was pleased with a calzone and slice of cheesecake. The place was clean, and it was a relief to have a decent lunch close to United Center.
