I’m not changing my rating because I still love them, but yesterday disappointed me. My food was 20 minutes late and cold causing me to throw out 2 of the 3 items ordered. When the driver finally got here, he called from the sidewalk instead of going inside and ringing bell. Extremely lazy, especially after having to wait so long. Yesterday was a waste of money, but I know everyone has a bad day. Maybe I’ll try again in a few weeks.

Fantastic food. A unique and delicious take on Philly’s Classic. Warning: the restaurant does not give a damn that you are in their business. They will ignore you and become impatient with your order. Don’t let it bother you, they make great food – they don’t need you to be happy. I’d skip everything except the cheese steaks – the pizza is New York style and let’s be honest, you don’t want that in Chicago. Get the classic philly with spicy peppers. Awesome.

I had one experience here, and it was surreal. My wife and I used to live on the East Coast and often miss some of the food from there — a good cheesesteak is one of them. We figure a Philly place would know what they are doing. We were wrong. The time we went, we were literally the only two customers in the place — around noon on a Saturday. She ordered a plain cheesesteak, I got mine with onions. Literally 40 minutes later(I timed it), they come out, and they are inedible. They killed my wife’s with so much black pepper that’s all she could taste, and spit it out — mine, however, was so stomach churningly disgusting I spit it out immediately. The onions were absolutely rancid and the roll was as stale as concrete. While discussing whether we should complain or not, we heard who we believe was the owner or manager loudly curse a customer out(bringing the total to three people in the place). Not wanting to get into a screaming match with a guy that clearly has anger management issues, I stroll over to the trash can to throw out our sandwiches that obviously had only one bite each, when the manager closes in. «Hey! You want that to go?» he bellows at me. I’m a little surprised that he even suggested that, I mean, who in the world has taken only ONE bite of a sandwich and says, «Hmm, I think I’m full?» I say, «No thank you.» He asks, «Aren’t you hungry?» I reply, «We didn’t care for them.» This goes back and forth a few times because he seems to not understand what that means. Pushing the issue, he bellows, «Stay, I’ll get you a bag.» Now I’m done and want to leave, so I say, «Listen: I’m trying to say these were disgusting and we will not eat them.» His squinty-eyed response: «The f**k you say!» and storms off. Needless to say, we will not be going back here ever again.

Hands down the best Philly in Chicago. Don’t waste your time with any other hole… this is the place to be. Take my word on this, I’m an official Philly boy. Me Me a Philly Boy.

I have food poisoning. We ordered some food. It came and was cold. The order was poorly assembled and the cheeseburger lacked cheese. Thirty minutes after the meal I got sick. I have been sick for 3 days with various digestive upsets. It is Monday and I haven’t been able to eat a meal since I ate that meal on Friday night. The cheese fries are pretty good, though.

The cheesesteak you’ll get here is like a poor mans, generic version of what you’d get in Philly(but not for a poor mans price). I just moved here from outside of Philly a few months ago, so this has to do… Mostly no one in Chicago knows how to make a cheesesteak. I’ve only had one better one in Chicago… But none of them are really like what you’d get in Philly. Anyway, these cheesesteaks are REALLY greasy. If you want a giant, greasy, meat filled sandwich, that will make you hate yourself the next day… this will hit the spot! The people who work here have tended to be friendly, which is always a plus!

Every time we order, they get our order wrong, even though we have them repeat the order back to us. Then when they send us out the re-order, it arrives an hour later, we are charged for it, and I have been told I, as the customer, am wrong. Food is still good. Just don’t order for take out.

Oh… oh yeah. Good, greasy comfort food. Ordered a foot long cheesesteak with whiz and onions and a side of cheese fries through GrubHub. Food arrived a full 40 minutes ahead of when GrubHub said it would which was awesome. As for the sandwich itself, it’s on par with anything you’ll find at Pat’s or Geno’s in Philadelphia. Steak itself was well seasoned and the bread more than held its own, soft but not falling apart due to the contents of the sandwich. The cheese fries were everything you’d expect from a good cheese fry — coated in melted cheese, a little on the soggy side, great flavor. People comment on the price and yeah, it’s not«cheap,» however you do get what you pay for. In my case, enough food to last the entire day. I’ll absolutely be going back to these guys when I need some good, greasy grub.

Philly’s Best does a good job. Their sandwiches are tasty, and the pizza is thin and yummy. So why am I not giving it 5 stars? Well, the food is good, but certainly not great. There are better philly and pizza places within easy walking distance. The service is mediocre. The price is a bit on the high side(I’d say $$ for sure). I will give them that their service is fast and the food is descent. A solid 3-stars. And I’ll be back. I just won’t expect to be blown away.

I stopped coming here simply because they are extremely over priced! But today I thought I’m in the mood for a slice of pizza… Even though I always and only go to Blaze Pizza down the st. Here at Philly’s 8.25 for 2 slices of pepperoni & cheese! Mind u, Pizza that’s been sitting in this cabinet with a hot light over it to keep it «warm»… I could’ve gotten a whole freshly made pizza at Blaze Pizza with all the fresh vegetables and meet I want for the same price. NEVERAGAIN will I set foot in this place!

EGADS!!! A large cheesesteak and a single slice of cheese pizza put us back nearly $ 20!!! To break it down, the slice was just over $ 3 and the cheesesteak was around $ 13. With tax and we were looking at a bill of almost $ 18! That’s all you get, just a sandwich, no drink or fries. Folks, that is crazy absurd money to pay for a sandwich and a slice of pizza(jeez, even Whole Paycheck charges only $ 3 for their slices and they come w/toppings!). Having grown up on the East Coast, I swear I could get an entire whole pizza and a large sub for the same amount! The sandwich itself is okay, a lot messier than cheesesteaks I’ve had back home(be prepared to use a fork as the bread will likely fall apart at the bottom). My half fell apart quicker than the dipped Italian beef I had last month! The pizza was okay though the crust was inedible-stale and hard as that week-old baguette you forgot you bought and is now collecting dust on top of your fridge(and by «you» I mean«I»). Once again, I’m forever disappointed at how hard it is to find a good slice of pizza in this city w/o spending crazy cash… I had their fries a long time ago and thought they were okay, nothing worth paying extra money for on top of the pricey sub. Nope, sorry, there are plenty of places where I can get a great Italian beef or burger w/fries and a drink for less than $ 13. If I need to fulfill my cheesesteak craving, I’ll just wait until I’m back home. I guess if you want to spend that much on a sub and you don’t see yourself heading east, by all means try it out at least once. It’s not horrible but for sure not worth the $$$.

Absolutely decent. This food-stop has a big menu of options. I order hot chicken wings while my date ordered deep dish pizza. The deep dish was ready to go and served immediately while my wings took about 15 minutes. The taste was okay for everything. The pizza was pretty dried out but my wings were large and tasty; a little too much sauce. Overall the place works for a pit stop. I wouldn’t plan to go here for the best food in the area. There’s some steep competition.

I used to visit frequently when I studied at DePaul. Stopped by recently and they still serve a great cheese steak. My go-to is the small philly cheese steak with provolone, peppers, onions and mushrooms and an order of cheese fries. The large size is a massive amount of food. A few minutes later they called my number and I dug in. The sandwich had plenty of thinly sliced steak, super melty provolone, and a good proportion of grilled peppers, onions and mushrooms. The cheese fries are traditional steak fries doused in melted cheddar sauce. Since I’ve been visiting I’ve only ordered the philly cheese steak although they have an extensive menu and sell pizza by the slice. It’s hard to deviate. It’s been awhile since I been and noticed they opened a gyro place next door.

Updated to 5 stars. I felt it was time for an update. This joint has become my go-to sandwich/delivery meal spot. I’ve ordered at least six times via Grub Hub. My favorite is the Italian Combo(Italian Beef & Italian Sausage) on the Garlic Roll. This is the one place where you don’t miss having the beef be dipped. It tastes amazing. Everything is seasoned and prepared just right. The sides and tenders are good too! I’ve had most of them, at least once. Delivery has always been fast. Typically, they arrive in 30mins or roughly half the quoted time.

I loved my food. Sandwiches and grinders and what have you’s are always delish. Just be weary of placing an online order for pickup. Ordered 2 grinders and 2 sodas. Ordered online at 7:55p and they said it would be ready by 8:30p. COOL! Got there at 8:35p with no pick up order in sight. Guys in the back apologized, started my order and had it out in 10 minutes, NICEJOBFELLAS. I guess the guy in the front never sent the through, easy mistake. But this isn’t the first time its happened. And probably wont be the last. :( I want to love you. I really, really want to but I just can’t right now.

Had dinner here tonight after a DePaul basketball game and in the middle of a blizzard. My companion lived and worked in Philly and has been raving about this place for a while! The food was good — the counter staff exceptional and just an all around good experience. I’d come back!
