I love this place. I started going here back in the spring of 2012, when I moved back to Chicago. The tokoyo sunrise is a delicious array of flavors and is always presented so nicely. The sushi chefs take their time and it shows in the presentation. They have other foods, besides sushi, like PADTHAI. No matter if you are dinning in, taking out or having it delivered it always looks and tastes amazing! They always remember who you are and are extremely polite and kind. It is a BYOB place too. You can’t beat it!

I’m in love with this place! I think I have found my new favorite Sushi place to order from(grub hub) while I’m at work. Everything was exceptional! Can’t wait to order again!

Staff is really nice and the food is good. It’s also almost always empty so good for groups and you don’t need a reservation.

Went for lunch today Great! Very fresh. I had the spicy Nano special Miso soup, seaweed salad, spicy tuna roll and 3 pieces of chef’s choice All were excellent, seaweed salad comes with the sushi on the plate, not with the miso– they didn’t forget ;-) for 10.00 it was perfect for lunch! Husband had the drunken noodles — very good too! I had a bite, very tasty and spicy for a cold, rainy day. Came with miso soup and 2 mini Thai rolls For 6.50! — star, Only problem was the dance/electronic music playing on a Tuesday at 12:30, at a little too loud of level. Service was excellent! She was very efficient and nice. Altogether: fresh, affordable lunch, great specials, byob and great service. Easy parking as well. Will be back!

I have list of Ramen places to go and this isn’t one of them but It was so close where we were, I made the adventure of trying it. I had the miso based and enjoyed it. It had a good taste, very light and the pork didn’t taste too fatty. The only other thing I tried is the calamari, and yeah it was good. Definitely would come back for the Ramen. The staff was very nice, just be aware that this place is pretty small.

$ 53.00 and a $ 6.00 tip: sushi was mixed with hot food when delivered. Messed up my whole meal. Cucumber salad mixed with hot food when delivered too. So my cucumber salad, mini Godzilla, tekka and California were all ruined because they were warm. I’m not too sure that would’ve made a difference though. Worse pad Thai ever tasted. Peanut sauce was okay. Crab Rangoon was no biggie. Took over an hour to deliver. For what we paid, definitely expected a better meal. The reviews sure did fool me. Customer service on the phone was really nice.

I order delivery from here at least once a week. I’m addicted to their Spicy Tuna Tartare. They have great offers too.

UPDATE: I used to love Nano Sushi. See my first review below. Since then, have gotten food poisoning and they have taken forever for small-ish rolls that made me sick 2 times in a row(glutton for punishment, or an optimist). Maybe it’s better if you eat in, but can’t deal with being sick anymore. THEYAREALWAYSATMYHOUSEINUNDER40MINUTES. The most recent delivery was 33 minutes. Some of the items are hit or miss, but the ones that aren’t a miss are absolutely amazing My family and I can order from here and find enough things we each like to satisfy everyone. Some things to avoid/note: I don’t like their octopus nigiri. It’s very chewy. Their eel nigiri is good, but drenched in sauce. Like, drenched. Their miso soup isn’t very good(but I adore miso soup so I still order it. I’ve just had way better) They don’t salt their edamame, kinda weird My favorite is the potstickers, tempura, Big Gun roll, and Thai iced tea. My mom loves the tempura as well, and the California roll. I use grub hub and have only gotten sushi and appetizers.

Although I have only been here twice I wanted to wait and give it another try before giving this place 5 stars. Let me start with the service, they are all very nice the waitress and the chefs always make sure you’re satisfied. My husband and I had 4 types of sushi but I can’t really remember all the names we did have the heat wave and mini Godzilla which literally makes a party in your mouth once you take that first bite!

Quite possibly my favorite sushi spot! Not a large location which I prefer. BYOB is an added plus. I prefer rolls and I’ve yet to be let down. My fave — California crunch. Yes a California roll is for beginners but the crunch gives a warm added twist to a plain California. Mini Godzilla is a close second. Fish has always been fresh in my opinion. We’ve also enjoyed their pad Thai for our son and have not been disappointed :). ENJOY!

Fantastic sushi across the board. Great BYOB place. The mini Godzilla is the greatest sushi of all time!

I’m sorry, but I don’t trust the freshness of their sushi. I had a bad experience here with a friend and will never go back. We ordered a pretty good assortment of nigiri and rolls. We tried about five different items, one was fresh, the rest were horrible. We were so disappointed, we didn’t even bother saying anything, we just mentally wrote them off for life. BTW, this place always seems to be pretty empty; not many customers. I’ve learned one thing about sushi, you need to go to the busy places that turn their inventory. This is very important!

Recently had an adequate meal here. The rolls were much better than the nigiri, which mostly tasted over-refrigerated. Lots of the rolls are spicy, though(one included a whole, unseeded jalapeño), and lots of them have fried things in them, so they’re not precisely showcasing the fish. The BYOB is a plus, and the room is sleek and attractive. Service was friendly and the total cost of the meal wasn’t outrageous. But I’ve had far better mid-range sushi at other neighborhood places, so I probably won’t be back.

Hubby and I tried this the other day and it was pretty good… nothing outstanding, but everything we ordered tasted fresh, looked nice. The service was also very friendly. Overall we shared a few rolls(pictured), some rice and calamari. My only gripe is the ambiance/cleanliness. While I’m sure the black and red look a lot more sheik at night, during the day it had more of an old strip club sort of feel. Also, there *must* be a better place for their fridge/freezer than right next to the bathroom. It’s probably the OCD in me talking, but I just felt that was a bit too close for comfort. As an aside, I could also hear the microwave going, which was a little disheartening.

Nano Sushi is, hands down, my favorite sushi place. The owner and the supporting staff are great! They always remember us when we come in. If our favorite table is taken the also always give us the pick of the available tables. As for the food, from the appetizers to the sushi to the warm entrees, it’s all terrific! The Gyoza is great and the Crab Rangoon is hand made and also is very tasty. As for the rolls, my favorite is the Ghost — nice and spicy and full of flavor. The White Out is also another favorite — perfect flavor with excellent crunch. We usually order the same thing every time we go, so one night they brought us a «surprise» roll which was made up of all our favorite parts of the other rolls — they’ve kept this recipe and make it for us when we come in. As for the warm entrees, the Basil Chicken is very good and will always make it extra spicy if you ask. The setting is great as well. The lighting is nice and the music is appropriate for just about anyone. Often times we get there for a late dinner and end up closing the joint, the staff never make us feel like we need to leave and are always very nice when we finally roll out of there. This is absolutely my go-to place for sushi. Love it!

Came here after reading all the great reviews on Unilocal and a recommendation from my sister. On a Tuesday night, I came here with a party of three. As we walked in, we noticed the place was small and cozy looking. The black walls, red cushion seats, and dimmed lights created a romantic atmosphere. As we sat down, menus and water was given to us. We ordered immediately: — Spicy Tuna Tartar: tuna on top of avocado with black tobiko. The tuna didn’t taste fresh and the texture was mushy. The hot sauce oil drizzled over the tuna tartar and on the plate created a nasty oily film. — Rainbow Roll: assorted fish(tuna, salmon, white tuna, squid) on top of California rolls. The texture of the fish tastied chewy and not fresh at all. The sushi was wrapped poorly and just started falling apart when picked up. One of the worst rolls(if not the worst) I have ever tastied. — Mini Godzilla: shrimp tempura with masago, cream cheese, avacado, and cucumber sprinkled with flakes of tempura and drizzled with spicy mayo and unagi sauce. This roll was the one of the best tasting out of the bunch. The shrimp tempura was fried just right and the cream cheese gave it a nice flavor and texture. — Ebi Tempera: shrimp tempura with cucumber, masago, and avacado in a unagi sauce. This roll was pretty tastiless to me. Did they forget the seasonings? — Big Gun: spicy salmon, shrimp tempera, cream cheese, and avocado drizzled with spicy mayo and unagi sauce. This roll’s ingredients complimented each other well. The only bad thing was that the sushi was also poorly wrapped and fell apart like the rainbow roll. — Heat Wave: spicy tuna over spicy shrimp, cucumber, avocado, tempura crunch with unagi sauce and black tobiko. This dish had fire surrounding the sushi which gave it a nice presentation. But besides that, there was nothing wow about this roll. It didn’t have any taste and the fish wasn’t fresh. — Salmon Unagi: The salmon was not fresh at all. It had the same chewy texture as the fishes on the rainbow roll. — Sweet Shrimp(raw shrimp): The shrimp was overcooked and was tasteless(according to my friend, since I don’t eat raw shrimps.) — Tamago(egg): The egg was just mediocre and had no taste. Overall, I’m very disappointed in this establishment. I have tried so many different types of sushi restuarants from buffets type styles and traditional styles, and I would say this is the worst place I have eaten sushi. The fish was not fresh and everything was poorly made. If you are in the area and is craving sushi, I would recommend you to find another place.

BYOB’s that actually have atmosphere are not always easy to come by. This place has got it. It was bustling at 8pm on a Saturday night, I would think about making a reservation next time as it’s small and there’s not really much room to wait around. The menu offered a number of vegetarian rolls all in the $ 4 – 6 range. The portions were generous, lots of deliciousness crammed in each piece. The seaweed salad was good as well, but beware vegetarians — it arrived with a dollop of fish eggs on top! I almost mistook them for shredded carrots, thank goodness I realized this drastic error in time. The service was great, they even invited us to start with our BYOB’ing while we waited for our table, offering glasses and a wine opener. I’m definitely looking forward to going back here!
